Chapter 11: The First Cut

Sabrina barely slept.

Nathaniel's words echoed in her mind—trust is a weapon.

She had always known he was dangerous, but now, she could feel it creeping into her skin like poison. The way he watched her, the way he tested her—it wasn't just business anymore. It was something else. Something darker.

By the time she arrived at the office, she had convinced herself to put it aside: work first, emotions later.

The office was too quiet. People were whispering, avoiding eye contact. A strange tension filled the air.

Sabrina made her way to her desk when she noticed an email flashing on her screen.

Subject: Urgent Meeting – Boardroom in 5 minutes.

Nathaniel's name was at the bottom.

A chill ran down her spine.

She grabbed her tablet and hurried to the boardroom, her heels clicking against the marble floor. When she entered, Nathaniel was already there, along with several senior executives. The atmosphere was suffocating.

Nathaniel's gaze locked onto her. "Sit."

She obeyed, heart pounding.

He slid a folder across the table. "Read it."

She hesitated before opening the file, and her blood became cold.

Inside was a leaked document—classified information about Knight Industries' upcoming merger. Information that only a handful of people had access to.

Information that had been sent from her work account.

Sabrina's breath caught. "This isn't—"

Nathaniel cut her off. "Someone leaked confidential data, and it came from your credentials." His voice was calm, but his eyes were sharp, dissecting her every movement.

Sabrina's hands trembled slightly as she turned the pages. This wasn't just a misunderstanding. This was a setup.

"I didn't do this," she said firmly.

Nathaniel leaned forward, his presence suffocating. "Then prove it."

Silence hung in the air.

Sabrina swallowed hard. She had no idea who was behind this, but one thing was clear—someone wanted to ruin her.

And if she didn't find out who, Nathaniel wouldn't hesitate to destroy her first.
