Nathaniel left before dawn.
Sabrina awoke to cold blankets and a chilling sense of dread in her bones.
Victor's words echoed in her head.
"Loyalty comes at a price."
And now, Nathaniel was out there, gambling their future on one last job.
Sabrina wasn't going to sit back and hope for the best.
She grabbed her coat and walked out the door.
Nathaniel had planned for every possibility.
He followed Elias Corrado to a private airport outside of the city. The man was getting ready to go, and his guards were standing by, unknowing of what was about to happen.
Nathaniel moved swiftly, taking down the first two men in silence.
Then he saw him—Elias, standing at the edge of the tarmac, speaking into a phone.
Nathaniel took his shot.
A perfect hit.
Or so he thought.
Before Elias hit the ground, floodlights flared to life.
Gunfire erupted.
Nathaniel dove for cover, realizing too late—this wasn't a mission.
This was a setup.
Victor had played him.
Sabrina arrived just in time to witness the chaos unfold.
Gun men surrounded Nathaniel. He fought but was outnumbered.
And then—Victor stepped forward.
Sabrina's breath hitched.
Victor had sent him here to die.
She had one shot to fix this.
Steadying herself, she pulled a gun from her coat—one she had taken from Knight Industries.
Then, she stepped into the light.
The moment Victor turned to her, she fired.
The bullet hit his shoulder, sending him stumbling back.
For the first time, Victor looked surprised.
"Run!" Sabrina screamed at Nathaniel.
Nathaniel didn't hesitate.
Together, they fought their way out—through fire, through blood—until they reached the car and sped into the night.
Sabrina's hands shook as she treated Nathaniel's wounds in their a place to hide.
His eyes softened as he reached for her. "You saved me."
Tears slipped down her cheeks. "I had to."
His fingers brushed against her lips, his voice raw. "I love you, Sabrina."
She let out a broken laugh. "Took you long enough to say it."
Nathaniel pulled her into him, kissing her with everything he had left.
No more secrets. No more betrayals.
They were free.
But at what cost?
As she held onto him, she realized—loyalty had nearly destroyed them.
And love had saved them.
