Chapter 9: Obstruction (2/2)

He sized up the crowd and the Sequence Ability Users talking in the center. No one was paying attention to him.

Qin Siyang pretended to wander aimlessly around the perimeter, searching for a trash bin filled with divine remains.

Finally, a block away from the safe zone exit, he saw a trash bin holding divine remains.

And compared to the bin at Exit 114514, the one at this exit was on a whole different scale.

If the trash bin at Exit 114514 was a luxurious banquet, then the bin area at Exit 54320 was like a grand feast.

Seven or eight trash bins were lined up in a row, each one filled to the brim with divine remains. A dazzling array of strange and grotesque remains made Qin Siyang's appetite surge.

If he could empty all seven or eight of these trash bins, wouldn't that mean he was about to take off?

Qin Siyang's heart pounded wildly as he thought about how to sweep this place clean as quickly as possible.

But suddenly, he noticed two sanitation workers covered in bloodstains standing next to the garbage station.

Qin Siyang originally planned to wait at a distance until the two sanitation workers left before making his move.

However, the moment he entered their line of sight, both of them looked up at him in unison.

After a brief moment of eye contact, the two men resumed cleaning the trash bins.

Qin Siyang, however, felt his heart tighten and immediately changed his plan.

He didn't stop but kept walking forward, getting closer to the trash bins and the two sanitation workers.

Qin Siyang acted like a student just passing by, walking past them casually without looking back.

The two sanitation workers glanced at Qin Siyang. Seeing his simple attire and youthful face, they didn't take him seriously.

Once he had walked far enough away and completely left the block, Qin Siyang finally let out a sigh of relief.

'What the hell? Why are there people guarding the trash bins? And they're in plainclothes.'

When Qin Siyang made eye contact with those two men, he had been on high alert. Though his expression remained neutral, his observation was meticulous, and his brain was working at full speed.

He realized those two were definitely not ordinary sanitation workers.

Because the stains on their clothes were too deliberately dirty.

The divine remains in the trash bins had long been separated from the creatures' bodies, and their blood had already dried up when they were hunted.

The sanitation workers he saw yesterday at Exit 114514 only had a few bloodstains on them.

Even if there were more divine remains at Exit 54320, there shouldn't be that much blood on the trash bins.

But those two were covered in blood as if they had just killed someone, drenched from head to toe—how was that what sanitation workers were supposed to look like?

It was obviously deliberately smeared.

They overdid it.

And when Qin Siyang first appeared at a distance from the trash bins, both of them had looked up at him simultaneously.

That meant they were extremely alert.

Sanitation workers should just focus on their jobs—why would they be so vigilant, constantly observing their surroundings? And both of them were doing it.

"Looks like the disappearance of the divine remains from the trash bins last night has drawn attention."

His earlier worries weren't unfounded.

In just one night, the United Government had already begun investigating the matter.

It didn't take much thought to realize that at Exit 114514, there were probably even more plainclothes officers waiting for him.

Qin Siyang sighed,"If I had only taken one divine creature remain yesterday, would this have been less troublesome?"

But taking only one divine creature remain per day might seem safer, yet he would have to go to the trash bin over thirty times to gain his current strength.

Going that many times would actually increase the chances of getting caught. He might even be caught red-handed on the spot.

Better to go all in on one big job—it was more practical.

It was precisely this consideration that made him decide to clear out all the divine remains from the trash bin yesterday.

Qin Siyang knew that his plan to obtain divine remains from the trash bins was likely finished. But he hadn't completely given up.

Even though he had no goodwill toward the United Government, he also doubted the efficiency of their lower-level operations.

Otherwise, why else would Ju'an School have no courses related to Sequence Ability Users at all?

Perhaps the situation hadn't escalated to the point where all his opportunities were cut off.

"Forget it, these trash bins are out of the question. I'll keep going forward and try my luck. Even if there's no chance, I've already gotten much stronger from yesterday's haul. This round isn't a loss."

Qin Siyang left Exit 54320 and continued along the bus route, walking into the distance.

The next safe zone exit was ten stops away—Exit 89757.

"Ten stops… Damn, I'll have to walk for more than three hours. I wonder if I can make it home by tomorrow. Maybe I'll have to sleep outside."
