"I didn't know which flavor you'd like, so I got original and chocolate. Which one do you want?"
Luo Ye hesitated, glancing back and forth between the two ice creams in her hands. He liked chocolate, but the original flavor seemed nice too.
Seeing this, Su Baizhou asked, "What's your zodiac sign?"
"Libra."
"Figures."
"What about you, senior?"
"Scorpio."
"Figures."
Despite Su Baizhou's usual cold demeanor, their first official meeting was surprisingly filled with effortless conversation.
Noticing Luo Ye still hesitating, Su Baizhou decisively shoved the chocolate-flavored ice cream into his hand—because she preferred the original.
As they continued walking, Luo Ye unconsciously slowed his pace, trailing behind her. He pulled out his phone and quickly snapped a photo of Su Baizhou's back. Feeling satisfied, he quickened his steps to catch up with her, smiling to himself.
Su Baizhou glanced at him but said nothing. She'd noticed his little stunt through the reflection on her phone screen. It was just a photo of her back, so she didn't really mind.
But the fact that Luo Ye was so cautious about it meant he probably hadn't dared to take a picture of her face—just her back. Judging by his pleased expression, he clearly planned to treasure the photo like a little animal hiding its newfound treasure.
She couldn't quite understand it, though. What's the point of a back photo? She was wearing a long dress today, not even showing her legs. But seeing how delighted he was, Su Baizhou grew curious.
If just a photo of her back made him this happy, how ecstatic would he be if he managed to take a selfie with her?
Her thoughts drifted to Luo Ye's message on Green Bubble the other day, where he'd said he was her fan. He really did act like an enthusiastic little fanboy.
Suddenly, Luo Ye's phone buzzed.
It was the 515 Dorm Group.
Wang Dachui: @LuoYe, Yo, where you at, man?
Wang Dachui: You're an out-of-towner, unfamiliar with this city, and you're out alone on the weekend?
Shen Qiao: Ohhh, something's up~
Li Haoyang: [Photo attachment]
Wang Dachui: Damn, no way! You're out on a date with Ice Queen Su Baizhou?!
Hearing the group chat's lively noise, Luo Ye quickly turned off his phone.
It wasn't the right time to explain anything, so he decided to pretend he hadn't seen their messages.
But honestly, it seemed like their dorm's fitness enthusiast was getting pretty close with that long-legged beauty.
They'd only known each other for less than a month, but already having meals and hanging out frequently? Something was definitely brewing.
Maybe Luo Ye was just too innocent.
After all, it had taken him from the first day of school until now just to add Su Baizhou on Green Bubble.
Of course, Su Baizhou had technically met him a day earlier—when she'd sent him straight to the police station. But Luo Ye had no idea about that incident.
The afternoon passed quickly. After strolling through almost the entire park, Su Baizhou brought Luo Ye to a café for afternoon tea.
To be honest, Luo Ye didn't really get the concept of afternoon tea.
Three meals a day should be enough—why add another one?
But sitting across from his beautiful senior, with a cup of coffee on the table, Luo Ye couldn't help but admire her.
Senior Su looks so elegant…
"What do you want to drink?"
Su Baizhou put on a pair of black-rimmed glasses, took out a copy of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes from her bag, and began reading.
"I… I'm not really used to coffee," Luo Ye replied timidly.
There was also a plate of small cakes and some nuts on the table.
Luo Ye stared at the menu for a while, but his eyes kept drifting back to Su Baizhou. She looked stunning even with glasses on.
Eventually, he decided to order the same drink as her.
"It's very bitter. I didn't add any sugar," Su Baizhou remarked casually.
"That's fine," Luo Ye replied confidently. "I like bitter things."
"Are you a fan of Sherlock Holmes, senior?" he asked curiously.
"No," she replied without looking up.
Luo Ye subtly glanced at her glasses—they were just frames without any lenses.
Realizing this, he asked, "Then… are you a fan of Detective Conan?"
"Oh? What makes you think that?" Su Baizhou finally looked intrigued.
Seeing her reaction, Luo Ye grinned. "Your glasses are the same style as Conan's. Plus, you're reading Sherlock Holmes even though you're not a fan. I guess you're reading it because Conan likes Sherlock Holmes."
Su Baizhou nodded silently.
He wasn't wrong.
Luo Ye had been a huge Detective Conan fan himself.
After all, both of his parents were police officers.
His love for Conan had even led him to read all of Sherlock Holmes' novels.
"Shinichi kudasai, mou ichido!"
Luo Ye suddenly struck a dramatic pose, mimicking Conan's iconic line.
Su Baizhou blinked, and even the nearby waiter struggled to hold back a laugh.
Luo Ye scratched his head awkwardly. "I… couldn't resist. Haha."
This guy… kind of adorable, Su Baizhou thought, hiding a smile as she returned to her book.
Luo Ye took a sip of his coffee.
His face instantly scrunched up.
So bitter…
Without missing a beat, Su Baizhou told the waiter, "Two packets of sugar, please."
Luo Ye quickly waved his hands. "No need, senior! I'm fine!"
Su Baizhou gave him an indifferent look. "If you can't handle bitterness, just drink it sweet. There's nothing embarrassing about that. Just be yourself."
Hearing this, Luo Ye stared at her, stunned.
Her long lashes framed her beautiful eyes.
She always seemed cold, but deep down, she was incredibly gentle.
After adding two packets of sugar, Luo Ye stirred the coffee and took another sip.
Even though it was still a bit bitter, the sweetness balanced it out perfectly.
Delicious.
He downed the rest in one go.
Su Baizhou didn't comment, simply continuing with her book.
The afternoon passed quietly.
As the sky began to turn orange, Su Baizhou closed her book.
Across from her, Luo Ye had fallen asleep with his head resting on the table.
This little stammerer… He must've been bored to death, yet he didn't say a word and just fell asleep like that.
Su Baizhou didn't wake him up.
Instead, a mischievous thought crossed her mind.
She pulled out her phone and snapped a photo of his sleeping face.
Luo Ye's eyes were gently closed, his lashes trembling slightly.
He looked like a carefree boy lost in his dreams, peaceful and serene.
Staring at the photo, Su Baizhou murmured, "Not bad-looking."
Then she sent it to Gu Mingxuan, who was abroad.
Almost instantly, he replied with a question mark.
Gu Mingxuan: ?
Gu Mingxuan: Wait, hold on. My dear protégé, why is my little brother sleeping in front of you? I asked you to look after him, not flirt with him!
Su Baizhou stared at the message in silence, then closed the chat.
She glanced at the sleeping Luo Ye, her expression thoughtful.
Flirt with him, huh…
This little guy might actually be fun to tease.
