Warhammer: Lord of the Endless Monster Horde [30]

"My soldiers are all incredibly brave warriors! And yet, you let them rest here in place?" It was evident that the Imperial Commissar was quite displeased with Rhodes' decision to have them rest.

"This mission is a surprise attack. If you join in, you'll only increase the target size and risk exposing our position.

It's better to wait until we complete the decapitation strike, and then you can coordinate with the Space Marines and the Battle Sisters to clear out the bugs on this planet," Rhodes said.

The captain of the Space Marines and the Canoness both nodded at the Imperial Commissar, reassuring him.

They instructed him to stay with the Astra Militarum, holding the rear and providing logistical support.

Rhodes shook his head without saying a word and turned to leave.

In reality, with the aerial capabilities of King Joe, he didn't even need anyone's help for this war.

All he needed to do was recall Red King into the system's space, then pilot King Joe and the Pedan ship directly over the Tyranid tendrils, drop Red King and King Joe together and destroy their biomass-extracting tendrils with ease.

After that, he could simply fly into space and destroy the four Tyranid hive ships. The vast amount of system currency he would earn during this operation could be used to further enhance King Joe's firepower.

The only reason he brought along the Battle Sisters and Space Marines was purely to boost his reputation.

With a giant monster on his side, Rhodes didn't consider the combat power of the Space Marines or the Battle Sisters to be of much significance.

The reason he brought them along and used seemingly passionate and inspiring words to encourage them to join the fight was simply to pave the way for his plans.

Since he had chosen the identity of a Primarch as a cover, Rhodes naturally needed to increase his prestige among humanity. Being the hero who saves an entire planet was far more valuable than simply leading these people in an escape.

During a previous conversation with Elena, Rhodes had learned that the current date was the end of the penultimate year of the 41st Millennium—meaning that next year would be the final year, 999.M41.

This was a year when many major events would unfold, marking one of the most crucial periods in the Warhammer universe. The Tyranid Hive Fleet Leviathan was launching a frenzied assault on all factions in the galaxy.

One tendril of the Leviathan fleet was heading towards the Ork Empire, preparing for the epic Octarius War between the Tyranids and the Orks.

The defense of Baal, the homeworld of the Blood Angels, was also about to take place. At the same time, toward the year's end, the ever-defeated but ever-resilient Chaos Warmaster, Abaddon, would launch the 13th Black Crusade, tearing the galaxy apart with the emergence of the Great Rift and plunging the Imperium into darkness.

Rhodes needed to be involved in these events to earn more system currency, and he might even have to split his forces, as these wars were happening nearly simultaneously.

In the future, Rhodes would need to summon some powerful kaiju—perhaps even intelligent monsters or cosmic warriors.

At the end of the year, the Primarch Roboute Guilliman would awaken from his ten-thousand-year slumber with the help of the Adeptus Mechanicus Archmagos Belisarius Cawl and the Yvraine of the Ynnari.

This newly revived Primarch would lead the Imperium into the Indomitus Era, ushering in the even darker and more brutal 42nd Millennium.

The Space Marine Polar Warriors here was a successor chapter of the Ultramarines, and Rhodes wanted to leverage his half-Primarch status to reach Macragge, the homeworld of the Ultramarines.

Getting involved in Guilliman's resurrection would allow him to stay close to the Primarch, giving him even more opportunities to rack up achievements.

The Terran Crusade, the Battle of the Lion's Gate, the Plague Wars, the Indomitus Crusade, the Psychic Awakening, the Great Rift, the Arks of Omen...

His monster system allowed him to earn system currency by slaughtering Tyranids, which meant he couldn't just sit back and develop safely. This system was designed to make him constantly stir up trouble.

Rhodes had a theory: if Tyranids could be converted into system currency, then perhaps Orks, Chaos Daemons, Chaos Space Marines, Necrons, and even the T'au and Aeldari could also be turned into currency. Maybe even humans.

Of course, since Rhodes himself was human, he immediately dismissed the idea of earning system currency by killing humans.

Besides, humanity's reproductive ability was far inferior to that of Tyranids and Orks. As for Chaos Daemons, as long as the Chaos Gods willed it, they could create an endless army of daemons at any time. These three factions would be his main targets in the future.

"Lord Rhodes, we've familiarized ourselves with your weaponry and equipment. When do we set out?" The Polar Warrior Captain approached him and asked.

"The sooner, the better. We must stop the Tyranids from absorbing more biomass. If you're ready, we depart immediately," Rhodes replied.

"Understood! I've gathered all our melta bombs. Once we reach the Tyranid Hive Fleet's tendrils, we can plant the bombs and destroy them," the Polar Warrior captain said.

These melta bombs were originally meant to take down a Titan-class creature, but now they would be used against the Tyranids. Regardless of the target, as long as it was xenos, there was no problem.

"Inform all your troops to board King Joi. We're going to exterminate these bugs," Rhodes ordered.

Soon, all the Battle Sisters and Space Marines boarded King Joe.

Meanwhile, the Imperial Commissar stood with the remaining Astra Militarum, standing at attention as he saluted Rhodes and the warriors, his eyes filled with solemnity as he watched them depart.

Rhodes was speechless—he was taking them to a high-level battle to grind experience, not sending them to their deaths. This was a power-leveling session with a carry, got it?

King Joe's flight speed was incredibly fast and exceptionally stable. The passengers barely felt any turbulence.

In less than an hour, King Joe arrived at the root of the first Tyranid Hive Tendril.

Without hesitation, Rhodes ordered King Joe to initiate a directed energy attack. This wasn't the Pedanium Main Cannon, so it could fire continuously while still packing significant firepower.

The four-ship sections of King Joe immediately released energy beams—brilliant blue streaks of light shot downward.

Boom! Boom!

The Tyranids caught in the beams were instantly obliterated into pieces, utterly annihilated.

"The flight capabilities and sheer firepower of this thing completely surpass every Titan-class war machine the Imperium has. Truly a relic of the Golden Age," the Captain remarked in awe.

Unfortunately, such pinnacle human technology from the Golden Age could no longer be replicated. If only these war machines could still be mass-produced, humanity's resurgence would be unstoppable!
