"Roar! I… I feel terrible, but… but I can sense an immense, overwhelming power—so strong, incredibly strong." The Dark Eldar warrior, now transformed into a humanoid white gorilla, spoke.
Hearing this, Rhodes nodded. This situation seemed to indicate a successful perfect fusion was underway.
There are two possible outcomes of monster gene enhancement. The first is a perfect enhancement, which grants the power of the monster, allowing the person to transform into the monster form for combat. After the battle, they can revert to their original form.
The second outcome is a failed fusion. In this case, the person is completely dominated by the monster's genes, losing all rationality and becoming a miniature, mindless version of the monster.
The success rate of fusion depends on the strength of the host's genes, their willpower, and the strength of the monster's genes. If the host's genes are strong and their willpower is firm, they can successfully fuse with the monster's bloodline. Otherwise, the monster will take over.
Among all monsters, the freezing monster Guigass isn't particularly powerful. Its personality is also relatively gentle, without any violent tendencies. As such, it is considered one of the easier monster genes to fuse with.
Since the Dark Eldar warriors already possess strong physiques and resilient genes, Rhodes believed their success rate in fusing with monster genes would be particularly high. However, if it were a more violent monster like Red King or the Cosmic Monster Bemstar, the fusion success rate would drop significantly.
"Control your power. Do not let the monster's strength take over. Suppress your nature, and focus on reversing into your original form in your mind.
If you succeed, you'll become a strengthened monster warrior. If not, you'll turn into a mindless monster." Rhodes instructed.
The enormous white-haired gorilla nodded and then knelt on the ground, gasping heavily. Even its breath carried a freezing chill, causing the temperature in the room to drop noticeably.
Time slowly passed. The giant white-haired gorilla grew even taller, reaching a height of around 3.5 meters. Its body became incredibly muscular, resembling a terrifying, small giant.
The cold aura emanating from its body grew even more intense. However, the physical mutations stopped after a while.
Soon, the Dark Eldar warrior reverted to their original form, kneeling on the ground and panting heavily.
"I… I did it, Lord Loki! And Lady Lelith! I can feel the monster's power—I can transform into that monster form at will!" the Dark Eldar warrior said excitedly.
The warrior's appearance had changed slightly. His hair had turned snow-white, as had his eyebrows and eyes. A few patches of white fur appeared on his cheeks, and his body had become noticeably more muscular.
"Lord Loki, is this a success?" Lelith asked as she approached Rhodes.
"Yes, Lady Lelith! This is a perfect fusion.
When needed, he can transform into the monster form, fully gaining the monster's power without altering his base appearance," Rhodes confirmed.
To their surprise, the first experiment had resulted in a perfect fusion!
Not bad, not bad at all—this was an excellent start.
Standing to the side, Lelith nodded with satisfaction. This monster gene enhancement technique was truly remarkable. She had initially thought the process would turn her warriors into miniature monsters—irrational war machines with no sense of self.
But this result was completely different!
The warriors gained a transformation ability instead. How was this even possible? This technology allowed seamless switching between two forms!
How could a 3.5-meter-tall form hide within a body less than 2 meters tall? This technology defied her scientific understanding.
It was simply too miraculous. On top of that, the warrior seemed to have gained frost-based powers—an extraordinary ability that didn't require psionic energy or specialized weapons to use!
"How do you feel now? Is there any discomfort? How much stronger have you become? Can you use the freezing power?" Lelith eagerly asked, firing off several questions in quick succession.
"Lady Lelith! I feel great! My entire body is brimming with strength!
I feel much stronger, though my speed hasn't improved much. As for the freezing power, please allow me to test it," the Dark Eldar warrior replied. He then extended his hands, and faint white light began to gather, forming a layer of frost.
"Try releasing this freezing power or freezing an object," Lelith said excitedly.
The warrior nodded, throwing the frost in his hands toward the ground. Instantly, the area froze solid. The frost spreading from his palms turned the surrounding floor into gleaming, silver-white ice.
"Lady Lelith! I can use this freezing power, but it's still new to me, so I'll need more practice.
Also, if I transform back into that white gorilla form, I think I'll be able to unleash this freezing power from my mouth as a beam, and it will be even stronger," the warrior explained.
This seemed to be an instinct. After fusing with the monster's genes, he immediately inherits all of the monster's abilities, including Guigass's freezing ray.
However, to use the freezing ray, one must switch to the gorilla form. If not in the gorilla form, only some basic frost powers can be utilized.
"Switch to that white gorilla form from earlier right away, and fire that freezing ray so I can see for myself," Lelith commanded.
The Dark Eldar warrior nodded and began transforming into a monster. His body quickly expanded, and in an instant, he turned into a massive beast standing 3.5 meters tall.
Opening his gaping mouth, a blue-white chill began to gather inside. Soon, a thick frost ray was fired, directly freezing a large patch of land.
The power was vastly superior to the frost energy used earlier. If this freezing ray struck an opponent, it would instantly turn them into an ice sculpture.
After firing the freezing ray, the gorilla visibly appeared exhausted, reverting to the form of a Dark Eldar warrior. At this point, the warrior looked drained, sitting on the ground in a weakened state.
"Apologies, Lady Lelith! I... I'm out of strength. I feel so hungry, extremely hungry," the Dark Eldar warrior said weakly.
"Alright! Take him to get something to eat. Make sure he eats his fill and gets a good rest. Gather here again tomorrow," Lelith ordered.
Her body trembled slightly with excitement. Incredible! This transformation alone, with such a robust physique, wouldn't fall short of any interstellar warrior—and might even be stronger. And that ability to fire frost rays? It was simply perfect!
But that white-furred gorilla… it's just way too ugly. Otherwise, she might have considered enhancing this monster bloodline further.
Still, as a woman, the first thing to consider is aesthetic appeal. A white-furred gorilla? No, thanks!
"What a perfect enhancement, Lord Loki!" Lelith said to Rhodes.
"Not all monster genes are this perfect or easy to integrate. The success rate for this monster gene enhancement isn't particularly high. That earlier warrior was just lucky," Rhodes replied.
It seemed that the freezing monster Guigass' genes were exceptional and highly compatible with these Dark Eldar warriors.
"I trust your technology, and I also trust the luck and will of my warriors. Aside from the freezing monster gene that allows one to transform into a white gorilla and fire freezing rays, what's the other monster gene?" Lelith asked.
"The other is an ancient dragon monster gene. If successfully integrated, it allows the growth of massive wings, granting the power of flight," Rhodes explained.
"Alright then, my warriors, it's up to you to decide. Do you want the power of frost or the power of flight?" Lelith said decisively.
"Me! Let me go first!" A Dark Eldar warrior eagerly stepped forward, kneeling before Rhodes and Lelith.
"Alright! Tell me, do you choose the freezing monster gene, or do you want to try the ancient dragon gene?" Rhodes asked.
"Lord Loke, I… I choose the freezing monster gene," the warrior answered.
Rhodes nodded and took out a vial containing the freezing monster Guigass' gene, injecting it into the warrior.
The warrior's body quickly underwent changes, similar to the previous transformation. Soon, he regained his composure—another perfect enhancement.
"Hahaha! I've gained the power of frost! I've gained immense power!" the newly enhanced Dark Eldar warrior roared excitedly.
"Now, who's next to receive this gift?" Rhodes asked.
"Me! Let me be next!"
"Me, Lord Loki! Please, let me go next!"
The remaining Dark Eldar warriors scrambled to be chosen. However, nearly all of them opted for the freezing monster Guigass' gene, with no one choosing the ancient dragon Melba's gene.
Compared to flight, the freezing ability was more appealing to these warriors.
Before long, over fifty Dark Eldar warriors had undergone the enhancement. To Rhodes' astonishment, all fifty-plus warriors succeeded with perfect enhancements.
"Lord Loki! This is a truly remarkable invention! And the success rate isn't low at all! You're far more skilled than any Haemonculus I've ever encountered. Enhancing monster genes like this—it's simply flawless," Lelith said, bowing to Rhodes.
What she initially thought was a subpar enhancement serum turned out to be incredibly effective. Out of her fifty-plus warriors, not a single one failed. Low success rate?
"..." Rhodes.
Damn it, Balt, are you being overly cautious?
Do you call this a low success rate? Then what does that make the Space Marine modification surgery?
