Warhammer: Lord of the Endless Monster Horde [91]

A terrifying scene unfolded in the arena!

The originally dark and sinister warriors of the Dark Eldar all suddenly mutated into massive gorilla-like creatures, standing about 3.5 meters tall, with incredibly muscular builds. Their upper bodies were covered in white manes, while their lower halves were coated in brown fur.

More than 50 of these white-maned gorillas roared furiously across the battlefield.

"What... what are these things?"

"Is this some sort of genetic mutation? They... they managed to transform like this in the arena!"

"Weren't they supposed to be Frost Warriors? How did they turn into white gorillas?"

"This... this is a death wish, right? Mindless beasts could never defeat the elite Chaos Space Marines."

Some spectators in the arena began to discuss the shocking turn of events.

The mutated Dark Eldar warriors, now resembling white-maned gorillas, hardly looked like they possessed any intelligence. If they had gained immense physical strength but lost their minds, facing the elite Chaos Space Marines would mean certain death. Their odds of survival were slim to none, and they might even be in a worse state than before.

"Hahaha! So these are our opponents? What a joke! Such defective trash!" one Chaos Space Marine laughed loudly.

"Brothers, looks like this fight is going to be easy. Coordinate with each other and take them out," another Chaos Space Marine said, raising his chainsword as he spoke.

Truth be told, this battle seemed rather one-sided. Even though these were Dark Eldar warriors from the arena, they were not succubi, elite fighters from the Wych Cult, nor warriors from the Blackheart Kabal. They were just a group with slightly better physical attributes than ordinary Dark Eldar warriors, but they were nowhere near the level of the Chaos Space Marines.

If they had relied on their enhanced physical strength, combined with the Dark Eldar's naturally graceful speed and that peculiar frost ability, the Chaos Space Marines might have found them somewhat troublesome. Perhaps they would have even lost a few men taking them down.

But now, having transformed into mindless beasts—even if their strength had been enhanced and their physical attributes now surpassed those of the Chaos Space Marines—the lack of intelligence made them easy prey. For the battle-hardened Chaos Space Marines, all it would take was some simple coordination to wipe them out completely.

However, what happened next left everyone in stunned silence.

"Who are you calling mindless beasts?" one of the white-maned gorillas mocked, a look of disdain on its face as it spoke.

"Hahaha! Brothers, they think we're some brainless, low-grade flesh-modified monsters."

 "Looks like we've been underestimated!"

The group of white-maned gorillas gathered together, letting out cruel, chilling laughter.

At this moment, the entire arena fell silent. The spectators, and even the Chaos Space Marines on the other side, were utterly speechless.

They could talk! This meant they were intelligent! And with their exaggerated size and power, they were certainly no pushovers.

"Hmph, even if you've changed, so what? Brothers, form up! Let's take them down," the leader of the Chaos Space Marines snorted coldly.

Do not underestimate these Chaos Space Marines. Every single one of them was a veteran—warriors who had grown utterly disillusioned with the Empire, or who had been persecuted by it. Though they once hailed from different warbands, they had now formed a new battle group.

The 60-plus Chaos Space Marines immediately arranged themselves into a defensive formation. Those holding shields positioned themselves at the front, chainsword-wielders stood in the middle, and those armed with heavy bolters and melta weapons took positions at the rear.

The Chaos Space Marines were the first to open fire. But despite their massive size, the white-maned gorillas retained their agility. The natural grace of the Eldar, though oddly out of place on such hulking creatures, still allowed them to effortlessly dodge the bolter fire.

Even when some rounds hit their targets, they only caused minor injuries. It would take dozens, if not hundreds, of shots to bring one of them down.

After transforming, these gorillas now possessed monstrous physical constitutions, with incredible defensive capabilities.

One of the white-maned gorillas charged straight at a shield-bearing Chaos Space Marine, landing an uppercut that sent the Marine flying.

Another gorilla leaped into the midst of the Chaos Space Marines, grabbing one by the leg and slamming him into the ground with brutal force.

Another Chaos Space Marine raised his chainsword and swung it down, but it was caught barehanded by a white-furred gorilla, which then violently slammed him onto the ground.

The supposedly unstoppable chainswords of the Space Marines seemed to be unable to pierce the defenses of these creatures—or perhaps they simply lacked the necessary force.

For the first time, the terrifying strength and resilience of the creatures from the Guigass monster were on full display. The bodies of these white-furred gorilla-like monsters far exceeded anyone's expectations.

"What are these monsters?"

"Watch closely! Don't rush; this battle has only just begun," said a veteran arena spectator calmly.

"They look like they're getting a little warm! Brothers, let's help them cool off," one of the white-furred gorillas said, twisting its head with a mocking tone.

"Hahaha! You're right! Let's cool them off!"

More than fifty white-furred gorillas surrounded the Chaos Space Marines. Blue-white light began to flicker in their mouths.

The temperature in the arena plummeted, and even the spectators in the stands shivered from the sudden chill.

The Space Marines, of course, noticed this phenomenon and tried to stop it, but it was already too late.

Beams of blue-white light shot out from the mouths of the giant apes, striking the Chaos Space Marines and freezing them into statues of ice in an instant.

The combined power of over fifty of these frigid rays was unimaginably terrifying. In mere moments, the Chaos Space Marines were collectively frozen solid.

After freezing the Chaos Space Marines, the fifty-plus white-furred gorillas showed no mercy. They charged forward, smashing the frozen warriors into shards of ice.

The Chaos Space Marines were known for their incredible physical resilience, and the freezing rays alone weren't lethal—they simply immobilized their targets. Given time, the Chaos Marines could have freed themselves. But the gorillas were determined to strike while their enemies were incapacitated.

The Dark Eldars were not known for showing mercy in combat.

The battle quickly devolved into a one-sided massacre. The frozen Chaos Space Marines had no means of resisting and were violently shattered into pieces by the ferocious white-furred gorillas.

Chunks of ice, mixed with fragments of armor, blood, and broken weapons like chainswords and grenades, littered the ground.

"Roar! Roar!"

Many of the white-furred gorillas bore injuries, but that didn't stop them from letting out triumphant bellows and beating their chests in excitement.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, celebrating the victory of the gorillas.

However, what happened next left the entire arena in stunned silence.

The white-furred gorillas waved to the audience with their massive hands, and then their bodies began to change. Their muscles squirmed and shrank rapidly. In just a few seconds, the towering gorillas reverted to their original forms—dark eldar warriors.

They looked perfectly fine! Not at all like they had undergone such a drastic transformation.

"This... this is impossible! Impossible!" a human merchant exclaimed in disbelief.

"When a body grows to that size, the entire structure changes—bones, muscles, even genes undergo mutation. They can't just transform back! This isn't scientific!"

There was no precedent for a creature to return to normal after such a massive change in size.

This wasn't just a matter of shrinking—it was a complete reversion to their original form! After such extreme genetic and physical modification, they should be incapable of reverting to their prior state.

In the grim universe of Warhammer, there were gene-altering serums that could greatly enhance a subject's power, but none of them allowed for reversion after mutation.

This was utterly unscientific, defying all known biological and genetic principles. It was as if the very concept of genetic science had been trampled underfoot.

Some dark eldar spectators fell into contemplative silence, but the majority of the audience erupted into even louder applause.

This match was incredibly entertaining and full of surprises. These frost warriors had truly left a lasting impression. Everyone now eagerly anticipated their battles against even stronger opponents.

The Chaos Space Marines, it seemed, had been overconfident at the start and hadn't yet shown their full strength. But the performance of the icy warriors was undeniably impressive—terrifying physical strength, immense power, and a defense that bordered on invulnerability.

On top of all that, they still retained the dark eldar's signature speed and agility. These qualities alone made them near-perfect warriors.

But their most terrifying ability was their blue-white freezing ray, which they could unleash from their mouths. That was the real game-changer.

This was no psychic power or technological weapon—it was a purely biological ability!

Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!

The applause from the audience was unprecedentedly enthusiastic. These frost warriors had more than earned the price of admission.

Among the spectators, a particular human VIP wore a grim expression.

This man was an Imperial Inquisitor named Damz, sent on a secret mission by the High Lords of Terra.

The Golden Throne of the Emperor had suffered irreversible damage, and someone had to repair it. However, the Mechanicus of the Imperium was incapable of the task.

Thus, the three High Lords of Terra had set their sights on the Haemonculi of the dark eldar.

To his shock, Damz had just witnessed this new form of alien biotechnological warfare. If these frost warriors were mass-produced, it would spell disaster for the Imperium.

Such genetically enhanced warriors could even alter the balance of power within the dark eldar's armies!
