The Emperor must burn a large number of psykers every day to power the Astronomican, an essential sacrifice for the survival of the Imperium. The Black Ships of the Imperium patrol the galaxy daily, bringing back psykers.
However, not all of these psykers are bound and hooded. At the forefront of the group, there are hundreds of elderly individuals holding staff. Their expressions are resolute, even fanatical. These are sanctioned psykers who have served for centuries in their respective roles. Now, at the end of their lives, they have chosen to serve the Emperor one last time.
Rhodes nodded, signaling to his scientists and pulling back the reluctant Daram.
["Let's talk tomorrow, my friend! This is the most painful part of my day! When Malcador first brought the sacrificial psykers to me ten thousand years ago, I was deeply pained. But I had no choice. Every day, I must consume their souls."] The Emperor's psychic presence carried a trace of sorrow.
These past couple of days had been the happiest in the Emperor's over ten millennia on the Golden Throne.
Ten thousand years! He finally had someone to talk to. And Rhodes didn't hold overwhelming reverence for him. There wasn't even a hint of worship. Rhodes spoke to him like a friend, not as a subordinate or servant. This delighted the Emperor. What he truly needed was a friend, not another subordinate.
The word "friend" had been absent from his life for tens of thousands of years. Subordinates, however, he had in abundance and without end.
["This is my favorite moment of the day because I get to feast. I hope they bring more next time."] The Dark Emperor let out a mocking laugh. He had just consumed a significant amount of dark energy and needed to replenish himself. Of the souls sacrificed daily, half were taken by the Emperor, while the other half ended up in the dark entity's possession.
The two were one, with the Emperor suppressing the dark entity but unable to eliminate it.
"We'll meet again tomorrow, my friend!"
Rhodes didn't stay to watch the sacrificial ritual. It was nothing more than a group of fanatical worshippers and unfortunate psykers collectively offering up their souls.
Escorted by the Custodes, Rhodes left the palace's outer perimeter and activated his teleportation bracelet, returning to his spaceship.
Rhodes still had much to do today. After fending off the attack from the Necron Trazyn the Infinite the day before, he had rushed to the palace. He hadn't yet had time to inspect the enhancements made to Mefilas.
Back on his ship, Rhodes finally contacted Mefilas to check on the situation at the ork ranch.
Currently, Rhodes' entourage consisted only of Zett and Daram. The Slaanesh killers had been sent to reinforce the Ork Ranch planet.
"Don't worry, Master! We're maintaining maximum alert status 24/7. If that bastard dares to come again, my superpowers will make him pay the price," Mefilas said confidently.
If not for the Master's emergency enhancement yesterday, which enlarged him to a height of 60 meters and gave him superpowers, he would have been captured. The steel skeleton enemy had been incredibly difficult to deal with, wielding advanced technology. Only the Mefilas's superpowers had deterred him.
"I'll send new allies to support you. The Ace Slaanesh killers are already on their way. They should reach you in a day or two," Rhodes replied.
"Understood, Master. I'll prepare to receive them," Mefilas said.
"Let's take a look at your enhancements. With greater strength, you'll be better equipped to handle Trazyn the Infinite," Rhodes said, opening the system enhancement interface to review Mefilas's upgrades.
Thanks to the 200,000 system coins spent on the giantification upgrade, Mefilas now stood 60 meters tall and weighed 40,000 tons—20,000 tons more than the standard enhancements for his species. This significantly boosted his melee combat abilities and defense.
Mefilas' height and weight could be enhanced up to five times, while his beam skills could be upgraded three times. The first upgrade required 2,000 system coins, the second 4,000, and the third 8,000. Each upgrade dramatically improved his beam abilities.
The base-level Mephilas beam could already compete with the Spacium Beam of the original Ultraman. After enhancements, its power far surpassed the beam attacks of ordinary Ultra Warriors.
The Mefilas alien also had a unique enhancement option: psychic power upgrades. Mefilas aliens inherently possessed powerful psychic abilities.
These abilities included teleportation (either self-teleportation or forcibly teleporting others), memory modification, hypnosis, shape-shifting, and forming strong telekinetic forces for grabbing, deflecting, or shielding. It was these psychic powers, combined with his beam attacks, that had allowed him to repel Trazyn the Infinite the previous day.
The most overpowered ability of this psychic arsenal was called Giantification of Living Beings. Without any enhancements, Mefilas could turn an ordinary human into a 40-meter-tall giant with proportionate physical strength and a weight of about 2,000 tons.
Superpower enhancement can be upgraded a total of five times. The first upgrade requires 10,000 system coins, the second upgrade requires 50,000, the third upgrade requires 250,000 system coins, the fourth upgrade requires 1,000,000 system coins, and the fifth and ultimate enhancement requires a staggering 5,000,000 system coins.
The price for superpower enhancement is extremely steep, but this skill truly feels like a cheat ability.
Each upgrade not only increases the intensity of the superpowers but also unlocks new enhanced abilities, such as energy conversion or manipulating natural elements.
When superpowers reach their ultimate form, Mefilas can even unleash an ability similar to Infinite Tsukuyomi. This allows them to directly modify the memories of all humans on an entire planet, casting illusions on every individual. Of course, this ability isn't limited to humans, but the stronger the target's mental capacity, the more resistant they can be.
They can create a telekinetic barrier that envelops and protects an entire planet, move an asteroid with telekinesis, and even teleport instantly with virtually no cooldown.
Absolutely no flaws—this is top-tier stuff!
Additionally, the ability to enlarge living beings is also enhanced. For every upgrade, the duration of activities for an enlarged human increases by a few minutes. Their weight increases by 2,000 tons, and their height grows by 2 meters.
In its ultimate form, Mefilas can enlarge a human for over an hour and fully control them, increasing their weight to 12,000 tons and height to 50 meters, while granting them a minor beam attack.
If this ability is used effectively, it can be incredibly useful!
This is practically like creating an ordinary Ultra Warrior out of thin air!
Just think about it—if you enlarge 10 Space Marines directly, how much power could they unleash?
Moreover, Rhodes was extremely envious of this superpower. Flying, invisibility, teleportation, hypnosis, memory manipulation and telekinesis!
Telekinesis alone can be developed into a variety of skills. Rhodes had already decided that after fully maximizing the performance of Mefilas, he would choose it as the fourth monster to enhance. This superpower is just too amazing.
"I'll enhance your power first, starting by upgrading your beam ability, then your superpower."
Without hesitation, Rhodes immediately performed two superpower enhancements for Mefilas, spending 60,000 system coins.
As for the beam skill, it was directly upgraded to the max level, and this particular enhancement didn't cost much at all.
A golden light enveloped Mefilas, enhancing both his beam ability and superpowers.
"How do you feel now?"
"Master! The power of my beam ability is now at least three times stronger than before, and my superpowers have been significantly enhanced.
I can now hypnotize an entire city's population instantly, create a powerful telekinetic shield to protect an entire city, and manipulate natural elements such as wind, fire, lightning, and electricity. I can also unleash abilities like telekinetic storms.
As for teleportation, I can now freely move anywhere within the planetary range," Mefilas explained.
With its enhanced superpowers, its combat strength had increased dramatically. If that steel skeleton dared to come again, it could easily be taught a lesson.
"I'm more concerned about the ability to enlarge humans. How is that ability now?" Rhodes asked.
A giant-sized Astartes, or even a giant-sized Primarch—though there's a time limit, the boost from enlargement is just insane!
"Master! I can now use this superpower to turn an ordinary human into a giant approximately 44 meters tall. Their weight reaches 6,000 tons, and their activity time exceeds 15 minutes," Mefilas responded.
"I see! Guard the ork ranch well. As for that guy who came to attack us, we'll go find him for revenge soon," Rhodes instructed.
This ability is truly enviable!
Rhodes even wanted to enhance it for himself right now, but Mefilas's superpowers hadn't yet reached their peak, so he had to endure a bit longer.
After finishing his conversation with Mefilas, Rhodes' remaining system coins were about 200,000.
He now needed to find a way to earn more system coins. Rhodes thought of a good place to farm points—the warp paths behind the Emperor's throne.
Zett could cooperate with Daram to slay daemons in the warp paths. In the warp paths behind the Emperor, the number of daemons was practically infinite.
To be on the safe side, Rhodes planned to first use these 200,000 system coins to exchange for two more monsters, then discuss the matter of the warp path war with the Emperor.
