"It was only Sanguinius's flesh that died—his soul remains in the Warp, and has grown stronger than ever. Otherwise, how do you think he could have helped his sons so many times?" Rhodes said.
Sanguinius was the best gene-father, always caring for his sons. Other Primarchs were not so attentive.
"Lord Rhodes, what exactly is the situation with Lord Sanguinius? Is he a Warp daemon, or something else?" Dante asked.
This was a problem they couldn't ignore. If their gene-father existed in the Warp, what did that make him—god or daemon? Either way, it was heresy by Imperial standards.
Mephiston fell silent too. It was a tough question.
"That's why I said not to worry. The true origin of the Primarchs is a secret known only to the Emperor and a few others. You're not qualified to know yet. Just know this: a Primarch's soul is very hard to destroy—they are incredibly powerful.
Sanguinius's soul has drifted in the Warp for ten thousand years, growing ever stronger from the worship of the Blood Angels and the people of Baal. If we find a suitable body, he can return to the real universe," Rhodes said.
"Lord Rhodes, creating a body suitable for Lord Sanguinius is not easy. Do you have a method?" Dante asked.
That was the key issue. Sanguinius's soul was so strong that even his original body couldn't contain it, much like Mephiston's condition.
With the Emperor on the Golden Throne, who could create a vessel for him?
"Of course, I have a way. I have a special method to make a body for Sanguinius, but I can't tell you the details yet," Rod said.
There were several methods. The first was super beast fusion—using the preserved body of Sanguinius, which the Blood Angels had always protected, and upgrading it with alien technology to revive him. The best material would be the flesh of an Emperor's avatar, granting Sanguinius the ability to become a giant as well.
But Rhodes had another idea: to have Sanguinius reincarnate as his child, binding the Great Angel to him forever.
As a super lifeform, this child's body could contain Sanguinius's soul, with limitless growth potential.
However, this idea required persuasion from the Emperor and Guilliman, and for Sanguinius to agree.
"We understand, Lord Rhodes. Since it is an Imperial secret, we won't ask more. We will quietly wait for you to bring our gene-father back," Dante said.
"Good! Anything else?"
"Lord Rhodes, we have one more request: could you teach us the new Primaris Astartes enhancement technology?" Dante asked.
The Blood Angels needed to recover and recruit. Their losses were huge; many successor chapters were nearly wiped out.
Dante had seen the power of Primaris Marines—they utterly outclassed the old Astartes. If they didn't adopt the new technology, the Blood Angels would be left behind.
"No problem! My procedure adds four new organs and enhances an old one. The new organs are: biochem muscles, bone enhancement serum, the Sanctus Pituitary, and the Belisarius Furnace. There's also a new black carapace made from advanced biochem skin—at least dozens of times tougher than before.
My sons also get a special pituitary for controlling their berserk transformation, but that isn't needed for others," Rhodes said.
The simplified Primaris procedure could be implemented by the Blood Angels themselves, maintaining their traditions.
"Thank you, Lord Rod!" Dante immediately expressed his gratitude.
Rhodes smiled and helped Dante up.
If he'd just sent them a batch of Primaris from another Chapter, it would have caused resentment. But now, after saving them and promising to revive Sanguinius, Dante was happy to accept the tech.
"My special pituitary is for controlling transformation, correct?" Mephiston asked.
"Yes, so only my gene-sons need it," Rhodes confirmed.
