Warhammer: Lord of the Endless Monster Horde [305]

The Harlequin were also very puzzled!

It was understandable if a regular Eldar couldn't send out psychic distress signals or communicate psychically.

But these were Harlequins! Each Harlequin was top-tier combat power, able to instantly kill a Space Marine—this was the standard for Harlequins.

Could something have happened to the Emperor?

Rhodes suddenly had a bad feeling.

Could the forces of Chaos have targeted the Emperor, drastically reducing its combat strength?

They already schemed against Tzeentch, turned Magnus, and the Emperor spent a great deal of power to fully purify him back!

Rhodes was very worried that the Emperor might have overexerted his psychic power and so could no longer suppress his darkness.

"Living Saint! Can you sense the Emperor's condition? You are in the deepest contact with him," Rhodes turned to look at Celestine and asked.

Besides himself, who else here was in closest contact with the Emperor? It had to be Living Saint Celestine.

After all, in a sense, all Living Saints could be considered the Emperor's daemon princes.

"Sorry, Lord Rhodes! Since just now, I have been trying to contact the Emperor, but unfortunately, I have also lost the guidance of the Emperor's Light and can no longer hear the voice of the great Emperor," Living Saint Celestine sighed.

Losing contact with the Emperor made her incredibly anxious, and she was at a loss for words. It had been thousands of years since she was chosen by the Emperor to become a Living Saint.

She had always acted as the Emperor's eyes; what she could see, the Emperor could see; what she could hear, the Emperor could hear.

Now, losing that link made her feel extremely empty, and even the psychic power the Emperor granted her was weakening.

She was created by the Emperor as a Living Saint, but she was still different from the daemon princes.

If she couldn't link to the Emperor, her power would drastically weaken. Previously, during the battle of Cadia, because the Blackstone device blocked the Warp, her strength was greatly reduced.

"It's fine. If you're lacking psychic power, I'll have one of the Emperor's Avatars supplement you! Even though Avatars can't directly link with the Emperor, they can emit the Emperor's psychic radiance," Rhodes patted the Living Saint's shoulder and said.

"Thank you very much, Lord Rhodes! The great Emperor will surely bless us," Celestine nodded.

"In any case! We must rush to Holy Terra as soon as possible—something must have happened over there," Guilliman said.

"This is troublesome, my lords!

Without Warp navigation, and unable to use the Eldar Webway, how do we return to Holy Terra?" a human ship commander said anxiously.

"That's nothing to worry about. Although we can't use Warp or Webway travel, my fortress-ship is equipped with an FTL engine, allowing us to travel through realspace at hundreds of times the speed of light," Rhodes said.

The only ones who knew Rhodes' ship had FTL engines were Guilliman and Belisarius Cawl.

Others didn't realize Rhodes could travel faster than light.

"Lord Rhodes? If your ship can do FTL travel, how long will it take to reach Holy Terra? Can you navigate to Terra?" a human commander asked excitedly.

"Cawl and I set out from Terra before, so my fortress ship's database has Terra's coordinates. We can navigate there," Rhodes nodded, went to the bridge, and activated the AI to lock onto Terra's position.

He had already prepared for this back on Holy Terra, ensuring that if neither Warp nor Webway routes were available, he could still return via FTL engines.

"Rhodes, how long will it take to reach Terra at full speed using your FTL engine?" Guilliman asked.

"There are still 2,500 light-years to go. At top speed, it'll take about half a year to reach Holy Terra," Rhodes replied.

If it was only a few hundred light-years, Rhodes's FTL engine had a clear advantage. But with thousands of light-years, FTL was no match for Warp travel.

He missed the days right after transmigrating—back then, his FTL engine could reach a star several light-years away in just a few days.

At the time, Rhodes thought his FTL engine could crush Warp travel, but after learning the real distances, he realized it only excelled within a few hundred light-years.

"What! That means we'll have to sail through this cold void for six months?"

"Not six, more like eight or even nine months. I said at least half a year, not exactly six months," Rhodes shrugged.

Frankly, Guilliman and Rhoedes had left later than the original timeline, since Rhodes had gone off to fight at Baal and was delayed.

If they'd gone at the original pace, Guilliman would already be at Terra, and he would have met Cypher and his group as well.

"No! Something must have happened at Holy Terra! If it'll take seven or eight months, we're doomed," Guilliman said.

"Besides FTL, do you have any better ideas? We can start with FTL towards Terra, and if the psychic storm subsides, we'll jump into the Warp, where it'll take at most 10 days to reach Terra," Rhodes said.

"Rhodes, we can't gamble. Father must be in trouble—we must reach Terra as soon as possible. Any way, even risky, we must try it," Guilliman said.

Rhodes was speechless. What could he do? If an actual Ultra Warrior from the Land of Light was here, they could make the trip in half a day, even a few hours, and reach the edge of the galaxy with no problem.

But there were no Ultra Warriors here—just a group of mechanical Ultramen, whose power only matched those from the Land of Light.

"Lord Rhodes! If it's urgent, you actually have a way to get to Holy Terra in half a day!" Suddenly, Salome, standing behind Rhodes, spoke up.

Everyone turned to look at the beautiful scientist in the blue uniform. Salome's reputation as a top human scientist from the Golden Age made her words very convincing—even more so than those of the Mechanicus archmagos, at least in the eyes of ordinary humans.

"Salome! Can you upgrade the FTL engine into a spatial jump engine?" Rhodes asked.

In the Ultra universe, the only thing faster than FTL was spatial jump technology—used by the Land of Light and other top cosmic civilizations.

"Lord Rhodes, I can't upgrade the FTL engine! But you forgot—under your command is a being capable of spatial jumping!" Salome said.

Manufacturing a hyperjump engine wasn't impossible, but even with several scientists, it couldn't be done—it required a civilization on par with the Land of Light.

Guilliman glanced at Rhodes.

Rhodes was also confused. Wait, there's someone under my command who can spatial jump? How come I don't know?

"Lord Rhodes! Did you forget about the Inpelaizer?" Salome winked.

Inpelaizer was not only more powerful than King Joe; as the Dark Universe Emperor's army weapon, it could travel through hyperspace.

Salome's words instantly woke Rhodes up.

Besides Inpelaizer, the cosmic monster Bemular under Rhodes' command could also can spatial jump!

"Rhodes, can you reach Holy Terra in half a day?" Guilliman asked anxiously.

"Mm, to be precise, not half a day but half an hour. I have a mechanical Titan that can spatial jump and quickly reach Terra—but it can only carry a limited number of people," Rhodes said.

"How many exactly?"

"A few hundred at most!"

Inpelaizer could carry over a hundred people, but Bemular only three, and only at primarch level, or else they couldn't endure the jump.

And the transport method was rather gross—Bemular could only hold you in his hand or mouth.

"Let's discuss the roster!"
