Chapter 46: Blood Battle

"Bang!" The door was violently struck from the outside.

"Crack!" A hand covered in green scales brutally stabbed through the door, and soon, another hand followed. The two hands swung and tore with reckless abandon, like two chainsaws, quickly creating a large hole in the door.

Next, a half-beastly young man squeezed through the hole. Gao Yang immediately recognized him as Ah Zhi, the literary youth from the village.

His eyes bulged grotesquely beneath his glasses, leaving only eerie white sclerae. His face was twisted in rage, his mouth dripping with hunger-inducing mucus. Half of his body had already entered the room, and he muttered, "Human, human, human..."

"Bang!" A bullet pierced through his eye.

"Ah——" He screamed in agony.

A sharp Tang Dao (Chinese sabre) was driven into his open mouth, piercing through his throat. Ah Zhi convulsed a few times before finally falling still.

"Sizzle!" As Qingling withdrew the blade, a splatter of blood hit Wang Zikai's face.

Wang Zikai stood frozen in place, having yelled the loudest earlier, but now, he seemed less brave and less excited by the killing than he'd imagined.

"Don't freeze up!" Officer Huang shouted at Wang Zikai.

Wang Zikai snapped back to reality.

"Die!" Wang Zikai kicked Ah Zhi's body out of the door frame. It must be said that, as a young beast, Wang Zikai had innate strength.

"Bang, bang, bang—" More beasts charged from the courtyard, crashing into the door.

The fragile and damaged door could no longer withstand the pressure and collapsed with a thunderous crash. Three half-human, half-beast villagers crawled through the door, ignoring their fellow beast Wang Zikai, and lunged at Qingling and Officer Huang behind him.

"Bang!"

"Slash!"

Gunshots and the gleam of knives clashed as blood splattered. The two beasts on the sides fell, while the one in the middle was grabbed by Wang Zikai, who, in a rapid motion, turned his arms into two bronze-colored "giant pincers."

With a loud roar, Wang Zikai used the pincers to snap the beast's spine in half with a sharp crack. The beast howled in pain, and as it died, its mouth opened, revealing red fangs, which it sank deep into Wang Zikai's shoulder.

"Ahhh!" Wang Zikai screamed in pain.

"Bang, bang, bang!" Three shots rang out, piercing the "fang beast's" head. Its head jerked back violently, blood spraying, and it stopped moving.

Wang Zikai realized that the beast in his arms had died. He gasped, releasing it. The creature fell limply to the ground, slowly reverting back to its human form—surprisingly, it was "Sister Fan," who had served them tea earlier.

Wang Zikai's shoulder was torn open, blood dripping down his face—some from the enemy, some his own.

This was Wang Zikai's first time killing a beast. Excitement, fear, and anger flooded him, and his reason and already low IQ broke down in that moment.

"Ahhh—" Wang Zikai howled toward the sky. His muscles swelled on his legs, chest, and back, transforming into tough, bronze-colored, rough skin, resembling a more aesthetic version of the Hulk.

Outside the door, countless beasts pressed forward, desperately charging in. Wang Zikai charged out into the black mass of beasts.

"Stop!" Gao Yang shouted, but Wang Zikai couldn't hear him.

Wang Zikai was out the door in an instant, using both fists and feet. One punch could crush a beast's head, and one kick could send a beast flying. He barreled through, wildly killing everything in his path!

Wang Zikai's combat strength surpassed everyone's expectations. He took down seven or eight beasts in one go, but of course, he couldn't fight off the overwhelming numbers. More and more beasts swarmed him, like a pack of hungry wolves attacking a lion, and soon, they overwhelmed Wang Zikai, tearing at him from all sides until they piled on top of him.

The remaining beasts bypassed the pile and charged into the house. They were gradually taken down by gunshots and sabers, but there were simply too many. The defensive line formed by Officer Huang and Qingling was close to collapsing.

Suddenly, a beast stood up slowly from the pile of corpses and blood. It was the village chief, Wu Ye. His neck had been sliced by Qingling's blade, but not severed entirely—there was a large gap, and his head hung to one side.

It extended its hands and lunged at Qingling. Qingling, who had just stabbed a beast's heart with her Tang Dao, sensed the danger but couldn't pull out her sword in time.

"Blade God!" Gao Yang activated his Blade God ability and swiftly ran over, driving his dagger into Wu Ye's heart.

Gao Yang quickly withdrew the dagger, not wasting the remaining seven seconds of his Blade God power. He spun around and leaped toward Officer Huang, taking advantage of his reload time to stab at a beast that lunged toward him. However, this time, the beast had a tough, scale-covered chest, and the dagger didn't pierce through.

The "Scaled Beast" retaliated with a slap, sending Gao Yang flying into the dirt wall, his head slamming into it. Stars exploded in his vision.

As the Scaled Beast charged toward him, a bullet pierced its right eye, and a sharp Tang Dao cleaved its head from behind.

Qingling withdrew her Tang Dao. "Fall back!"

Fat Jun rushed over to help Gao Yang retreat to the corner of the wall, his hands pressing against Gao Yang's chest. Gao Yang felt a fiery, burning pain in his chest. Looking down, he saw a long, narrow wound across his chest.

"It's okay… it's okay… almost done…" Fat Jun trembled all over, his mind overtaken by fear, mechanically repeating these words.

"Thud!" A pair of long, brown-haired ape arms broke through the window and grabbed Fat Jun's neck, yanking him backward.

"Ah!" Fat Jun screamed. Fortunately, due to his large size, he got stuck in the window and couldn't be dragged out.

Ignoring the wound on his chest, Gao Yang quickly jumped up and drove his dagger into the ape arm. The ape let out a horrific screech and pulled its arm back.

"Mom, save me! Help!" Fat Jun, now safe, didn't even think to thank Gao Yang. He frantically crawled across the floor, diving under a table, huddling into a ball and covering his head, his mental state completely shattered.

Gao Yang knew Fat Jun had done his best and there was no need for blame.

Clutching his chest wound, Gao Yang stood up. Outside, the door was littered with fallen corpses.

Officer Huang had run out of bullets. He threw away his gun, grabbed a rusty machete from the corner, and moved back toward Gao Yang. "You good?"

"I'm good!" Gao Yang gripped his dagger tightly, gritting his teeth.

A fast-moving beast, using both hands and feet like a leopard, dashed through the door, dodging Qingling's slash. It leaped toward Officer Huang.

"Ah!" Officer Huang swung the machete at the beast's head, but it missed and struck its shoulder. The beast's momentum slammed into Officer Huang, knocking him to the ground.

It roared in anger, its mouth full of sharp fangs, about to crush Officer Huang's neck.

Gao Yang rushed forward, gripping his dagger tightly and using his body's fall momentum to stab it into the beast's back skull. The sharp blade pierced through the beast's skull and out of its mouth, nearly stabbing into Officer Huang's eye. Thick, viscous blood mixed with disgusting brain matter flowed down the dagger and splashed onto Officer Huang's face.

Officer Huang struggled to push the beast off and grabbed Gao Yang, pulling him up. The two of them leaned against each other, out of breath, awaiting the next wave of battle.

"You good?" Officer Huang wiped the grime off his face and asked again.

"I'm good!" Gao Yang was red with rage.

"Good!" Officer Huang shouted, invigorated. "My wife's still pregnant. I can't die here!"

"I can't die here either!" Gao Yang passionately echoed, and after a moment, he shouted, "I'm still a virgin!"
