Cry for that jerk

Because, in that fleeting moment, Nadia Clark felt that the man before her bore a striking resemblance to the man who had broken into her house that night and whom she had saved.

No! It wasn't just a resemblance; the more she looked, the more alike they seemed.

"You..."

Nadia Clark hesitated, thinking it was too much of a coincidence.

"Give me your ID," the man continued, a gentle smile spreading across his face.

His sharp, black eyes were cold and deep, yet his gaze was tender.

And, he indeed looked quite similar to the man she had saved. Nadia, lost in thought, handed her ID to the man in a daze.

The man took Nadia's ID and then spoke to the staff at the ticket counter, "Hello, could you please refund this ticket and reissue it using this ID?"

"Sure, please wait a moment."

"..."

"Here are your ticket and ID. Have a pleasant journey!"

"This ticket is for you!" The man smiled knowingly, placing the ticket and ID back into Nadia's hand before turning gracefully to leave.

"Wait..." I haven't paid you yet...

By the time Nadia snapped out of her daze, the bustling ticket hall had already swallowed the handsome man's figure.

However, she finally had her ticket to Riverside City.

Nadia boarded the express train with her ticket in hand. To her surprise, the ticket turned out to be for a "First-Class Sleeper".

The attendant opened the door with a smile and welcomed Nadia into the carriage.

As Nadia stepped inside, she noticed a man already sitting on the sofa, talking on the phone. And this man... was the same one who had just given her the ticket.

Nadia's face lit up with delight. "I'm already on the train. If the car can't be fixed, just send someone to tow it. Yes, I'm in a web meeting right now; we'll discuss other matters later."

The man finally hung up the phone. Just as Nadia was about to approach him to pay for the ticket, he put on a headset and placed a silver laptop on his lap, speaking fluent English.

Nadia leaned in to see that the man was chatting with several foreigners in suits.

Wow... so impressive!

Realizing the man might be in a long conversation, Nadia sensibly returned to her seat and took in the luxurious first-class sleeper carriage. There were two single beds hanging above two sofas, with a shared coffee table in the middle.

The coffee table had a phone for internal calls, and there was also a TV and a private bathroom. The carriage even had Wi-Fi.

The overall tone of the carriage was a noble golden color, giving it a very luxurious feel.

Seeing that the man might be talking for a while, Nadia lay down on the sofa and started browsing the internet on her phone.

Halfway through, her stomach began to growl.

Nadia suddenly remembered she hadn't had dinner. She had rushed to catch the train and hadn't bought any food.

About an hour later, the man finally took off his headset and closed his laptop. Nadia quickly got up from the sofa and greeted the man with a smile. "Hello! Thank you for returning the ticket to me. How much was it? I'd like to pay you back."

The man finally looked at Nadia after hearing her words.

But before he could say anything, Nadia's stomach let out an embarrassing growl.

Nadia's face turned crimson with embarrassment.

The man chuckled knowingly, picked up the phone on the coffee table, and glanced at Nadia. "Is there anything you don't eat?"

Nadia instinctively shook her head. The man then proceeded to place an order with room service.

"Perfect timing. I haven't had dinner either. Let's eat together." After hanging up, he smiled warmly.

Nadia seemed to understand that the man had no intention of charging her for the meal, so she didn't press the matter further.

When the food arrived, the man took out his personal chopsticks but noticed Nadia sitting across from him, looking awkwardly at him.

Perhaps sensing her discomfort, he put away his personal chopsticks and picked up a pair of disposable ones to eat with Nadia.

Nadia hurriedly said, "It's okay, don't mind me. Just eat the way you normally do."

She forced a smile, still feeling a bit awkward.

The man smiled knowingly and gracefully began eating with the disposable utensils.

As they ate, Nadia couldn't help but steal glances at the man sitting across from her.

His every move exuded a noble air, making him seem out of place in this setting.

Although this was a first-class sleeper car, it still felt beneath his dignity.

The difference between people, perhaps, lies in such subtleties.

After dinner, the attendant cleared away the meal boxes from the coffee table, and Nadia and the man didn't engage in much conversation.

Feeling bored, Nadia was playing a game on her phone when her childhood friend, Thea, suddenly sent her a message on WeChat.

"Nadia, boohoo—I've been dumped, I need comfort! —Thea."

Dumped?! Nadia was momentarily stunned and quickly sent back a comforting hug emoji.

"He cheated on me. In our rented apartment, he slept with my college roommate, and I caught them in the act."

Reading Thea's message, Nadia fell silent. A similar situation had happened to her.

Shepard had been two-timing, and afterwards, he spoke to her as if it was the most natural thing in the world, breaking her heart completely.

Nadia also needed comfort, so she didn't know how to console Thea, who was going through the same ordeal.

In fact, compared to Thea, what happened to Nadia was even more tragic. Then, Thea sent another message.

"Isn't it just like a soap opera? Such a dramatic thing actually happened to me. Said Thea."

"Thea, don't be sad. Crying over that jerk isn't worth it! Nadia replied back."

This was something Nadia was telling herself too.

"Nadia, can you sing 'I Am Happy' for me?" Thea requested.

Back in high school, every time they went to karaoke, Nadia was the queen of the mic.

Her singing was even better than the original artists'. After all, she was a Miao girl, and Miao girls were known for their singing and dancing.

"I'm on a train right now, it's not convenient to sing for you!" — Nadia.

"I really want to hear you sing. Just think of it as comforting an old friend from afar. Nadia, please, I'm heartbroken." Thea begged.

Looking at Thea's small request, Nadia glanced up at the man sitting across from her on the sofa, still working on his laptop.

"Um... sir... can I sing a song?"

Nadia asked, thick-skinned and determined to go all out for her heartbroken friend.

The man glanced up at Nadia and gave a slight smile. "If you sing well, of course you can."

Nadia felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her face turning bright red. She picked up her phone and opened the recording app.

As she looked at the man sitting across from her, she couldn't help but think of the injured man from that night...

Was it the same person?

Nadia wasn't sure. She thought it might be because they looked so similar. But then again, she felt their personalities were different.

The man from that night, whom she had seen a couple more times, was cold on the outside but warm on the inside. Each time he appeared, he would unexpectedly kiss her passionately.

But the man in front of her now... he was gentle, cultured, and refined.

Nadia found herself getting lost in thoughts about the incredibly handsome man across from her, so she decided to close her eyes and start singing:

"Tell me, what can't be said, what are you afraid of, trust me, I won't cry, I won't be sad; Wrong, whose fault is it, who can say for sure, might as well be my fault; Do what can't be done, what are you afraid of, trust me, I don't care, even if you leave..."

After finishing her song, Nadia immediately sent the recording to Thea, hoping her voice could bring some comfort to her childhood friend far away.

At that moment, she heard the sound of clapping.

Nadia looked towards the sound and saw the man lowering his hands, smiling as he praised her, "You sing beautifully."

"Thank you!" Nadia felt a surge of joy, her face lighting up with a dimpled smile.

The man continued, "Could you sing another one?"

"Which song would you like to hear?"

"Sing your best one."

"Alright!"

Nadia's lips curved into a slight smile as she opened her phone, found the lyrics, and began to sing a more cheerful song: "In the quiet summer, the sky is dotted with stars, my heart is filled with some longing, longing for your face; I can pretend not to see, or secretly miss you, until I can touch your warm face; Even the cicadas have fallen asleep, peacefully asleep; In my heart, the quiet summer..."

The man listened, lying down on the sofa. He crossed his hands behind his head, a faint smile on his lips, and closed his eyes, quietly enjoying the melody.

There was no denying it, this girl's voice was truly beautiful, like a sweet candy that wasn't too sugary, leaving a lingering taste.

After Nadia finished singing, she noticed that the man opposite her had already fallen asleep on the sofa.

The air conditioning in the train cubicle was set to a lower temperature, so Nadia walked over, took a thin blanket from the opposite bed, and gently covered the man with it.

The man looked very handsome in his sleep, with a smooth, fair face, thick eyebrows, a high nose, and perfectly shaped lips, all exuding nobility and elegance.

As she looked at the sleeping man, Nadia suddenly felt a sense of familiarity.

After thinking for a moment, she realized that this man looked a lot like the one who had crawled into her room injured that night, the one she had kindly helped.

But how could it be such a coincidence? She had already left Seaside City.

Nevertheless, as Nadia looked at the elegant man before her, she couldn't help but smile with relief.

It was nice to meet a kind person during her most difficult times...

The next morning, the train was about to arrive at Riverside City.

Fletcher Mitchell woke up naturally and realized there was a thin blanket covering him. Instinctively, he looked at the opposite bed.

The girl was lying on her side, sleeping peacefully. The blanket covering him must have been kindly placed by the girl last night, Fletcher thought with a knowing smile.

At that moment, the attendant knocked on the compartment door and gently reminded, "Dear passengers, we will be arriving in Riverside City in thirty minutes."

Hearing the attendant's knock and warm reminder, the girl's brow furrowed slightly, as if she was about to wake up.

Fletcher snapped back to reality, grabbed his toiletries from his suitcase, and headed to the bathroom.

Nadia suddenly sat up in bed, hurriedly pulling out her phone to check the time. She sighed in relief, realizing she hadn't overslept.

Groggily, she moved to the edge of the bed, intending to step onto the footstool beside it. However, she misjudged her step and fell to the floor.

Thud!

"Ouch!"

Hearing the pained cry from outside the bathroom, Fletcher immediately put down his towel and rushed out.

He found the girl sitting on the floor, grimacing as she rubbed her right ankle.

"What happened?" Fletcher quickly walked over to Nadia, crouching down beside her with concern in his voice.

Nadia bit her lips, reluctant to admit that she had fallen because she missed the footstool.

Seeing her silence, Fletcher could pretty much guess what had happened, and he couldn't help but chuckle.

What a silly girl!

"What's so funny..." Nadia muttered, frowning with a hint of complaint in her voice.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it," Fletcher apologized politely, then reached out to grasp her ankle.

As soon as he touched it, she cried out, "Ouch!"

It seemed pretty clear that she had twisted it. "Let me help you up first!" Fletcher said, grabbing her arm to lift her. He quickly realized that she was unusually light, indicating she was quite slender and frail-looking.

"Thank you," Nadia said politely as she settled onto the sofa.

"You're welcome," Fletcher replied with a warm smile before turning to gather his belongings.

When the train arrived at the station, Nadia, dragging her suitcase, hopped forward on one foot.

Seeing this, Fletcher called over a train attendant to help with the luggage. Without a word, he then walked up to Nadia and scooped her up into a bridal carry.

Nadia was taken aback by the sudden gesture, feeling both surprised and flattered. The attendant took her suitcase from her hands as she was carried.

The attendant escorted them off the train and to the safe zone outside the station.

Fletcher set Nadia down and pointed to his suitcase. "You can sit on my suitcase, and I'll push you."

"Thanks, but I can walk on my own," Nadia replied with a smile, politely declining.

Fletcher raised an eyebrow and glanced at the long distance to the exit. "Are you sure you want to hop all the way there on one foot?"

Hearing this, Nadia looked at the bustling crowd and the distant exit.

"Um, I think I'll take you up on that offer," she said with an embarrassed smile.

Fletcher chuckled softly and lifted Nadia onto his suitcase. His suitcase was large and sturdy, easily able to support her weight.

With one hand pushing his suitcase and the other dragging Nadia's, Fletcher reminded her, "Hold on tight."
