You can go to the club to sing

"Are you... Nadia Clark?" A woman's voice came through the receiver.

Nadia Clark thought she might have dialed the wrong number and instinctively glanced at the phone screen to check the number.

"Your brother is still asleep. Have you arrived in Riverside City? I'll come to pick you up," the woman continued.

Nadia, completely puzzled, asked, "Hello, may I ask... who is this?"

"I'm Valerie, your brother's girlfriend," Valerie said with an authoritative tone.

Just from Valerie's voice, Nadia could sense a powerful aura emanating through the airwaves.

Without thinking, Nadia called out, "Sister-in-law."

"Good girl! Keep your phone on. I'll call you when I arrive," Valerie responded. Nadia weakly replied, "Okay," and the call was promptly ended.

Her brother didn't come, but her soon-to-be sister-in-law did. Nadia was truly amazed by her brother, Blake Clark.

After waiting for about half an hour, Nadia's phone rang again, and she answered it.

"Is that you, sister-in-law?"

"Yes, I'm here. Where are you?"

"I'm by the roadside near the station exit." "I see you! Look across the street!" Valerie's voice came through the phone.

Nadia Clark looked up and saw a woman in the driver's seat of a silver sedan, waving at her with a phone in hand.

With a slight limp, Nadia dragged her suitcase across the street.

Seeing Nadia's difficulty, Valerie got out of the car and took the suitcase from her, asking with concern, "What happened to your foot?"

"I twisted it, nothing serious," Nadia replied with a grin.

Valerie placed Nadia's suitcase in the trunk and helped her into the passenger seat.

"Buckle up!" Valerie reminded her as she returned to the driver's seat. Nadia nodded and pulled the seatbelt across her.

"I heard from Blake that you're planning to work here?" Valerie asked as she started the car.

Nadia responded softly, "Yeah."

Valerie continued, "You haven't graduated from college yet, and it's just a community college. It's hard to find a good job here in Riverside City."

"I know..." Nadia replied hesitantly. She had thought about it before coming, but she just didn't want to stay at home any longer, so she came anyway.

Valerie glanced at Nadia and asked, "Your brother told me you sing pretty well. Would you be interested in working part-time as a singer at an entertainment club?"

"A singer?" Nadia looked puzzled.

Valerie glanced at Nadia Clark again and, seeing that she still didn't get it, decided to explain differently. "It's kind of like being a singer at a bar, but our entertainment clubs here are way more upscale than your bars!"

"Can you make a lot of money?" Nadia asked bluntly. She was really short on cash right now.

Valerie chuckled and gave a roundabout answer, "The quickest way for a woman to make money in Riverside City is to get into bed with a rich man!"

Nadia wisely kept her mouth shut. Getting a job recommendation from Valerie was already a big help; she couldn't afford to be picky about how much she could earn.

Valerie's underlying message was probably something like that, Nadia thought. Though she felt a bit disheartened, she understood why Valerie said what she did.

The car stopped at a red light. Valerie sighed and remarked, "The biggest thing about Riverside City is the traffic!"

"Yeah..." Nadia responded softly, her eyes drifting to the view outside the window.

A magnificent skyscraper stood out among the many buildings, immediately catching Nadia's attention.

Mitchell Family's Group!

Seeing the prominent sign at the top of the building, Nadia felt a bit carsick and rolled down the window for some fresh air. She turned back to Valerie and asked, "Is the Mitchell Family Group's headquarters in Riverside City?"

"Yeah! You didn't know that?" Valerie replied absentmindedly, her eyes fixed on the traffic light ahead.

Nadia smiled knowingly. She had just found out, but she had heard of the Mitchell Family Group's reputation before.

In the world of top-tier international corporations, someone like her, a graduate from a third-rate college, could hardly set foot in such a place.

At this moment, a powerful black SUV slowly followed the sedan in front of it.

Geraldo Mitchell stepped on the brake and glanced at the traffic light ahead, realizing he still had to wait for another minute.

Inside the silver sedan, Valerie, feeling bored, suddenly turned to Nadia Clark and said, "Nadia, sing a song for your sister-in-law."

Nadia Clark happily agreed and leaned against the car window, starting to sing softly to herself.

A sweet and refreshing melody floated through the air, catching the attention of Geraldo Mitchell, who was sitting in the driver's seat of the imposing black SUV.

Following the sound, Geraldo Mitchell looked over and saw Nadia Clark in the passenger seat of the silver sedan. His heart skipped a beat.

Elise?!

He remembered the time she had saved him when he was injured. He had left at the break of dawn.

Before leaving, he had gently moved her from the cool mat on the floor to the bed. He had clearly seen her face then.

She had a slightly chubby, delicate face, with elegant, curved eyebrows and long eyelashes that fluttered lightly. Her thin lips were as tender as rose petals.

Looking at her lips, he longed for the feeling of kissing her.

The first time, she had said it was her first kiss. Wasn't it his first too?

The second time, he had kissed her forcefully because he missed her. The third time, he had kissed her again, out of gratitude.

He had never been in a relationship, nor had he ever been with a woman.

In the past, he felt as if he were always alone, often disregarding his own life.

Now, he had someone to care about, which made him cherish his life even more.

It was this woman who sparked in him the desire to protect and cherish her for a lifetime.

Geraldo Mitchell had grown up in a military camp with his father, and at the young age of sixteen, he was admitted early into the military academy.

By the age of twenty, he had become the youngest major general in history, leading a life of constant military deployment. Later, due to his sharp mind, he was sent to a renowned police academy abroad for training. Upon his return, he also served as a special forces soldier.

From birth until now, Geraldo Mitchell had dedicated his life to serving his country. Therefore, he had never experienced personal emotions.

But this time, he had fallen for her. It was her straightforwardness, her cooking skills, her natural beauty without makeup, and her words, "I care about you," that made him unable to forget her.

Before leaving, in a moment of impulse, he placed the family heirloom jade pendant around her neck and left a kiss on her forehead that was uniquely his.

When he got back, he even boldly told his grandfather that he wanted to marry her.

Recalling this, Geraldo Mitchell couldn't help but wonder, wasn't Elise supposed to arrive in Riverside City at 3 PM? Why was she suddenly here now?

"Elise!" Geraldo Mitchell instinctively called out.

At this moment, Valerie pressed the window button on the car door, closing the window on Nadia Clark's side.

The air conditioning was on, and this silly girl had opened the window!

"Sis-in-law, how did I sing?" Nadia Clark asked with a smile after finishing her song.

Valerie responded with great satisfaction, "Not bad! You could sing at a club!"

Meanwhile, Geraldo Mitchell took out his phone and called Butler Lee. He learned that Elise was actually at Mountainview Gardens in Seaside City, packing her suitcase and planning to catch a flight to Riverside City after lunch. He realized he must have mistaken someone else for Elise.

When they arrived at the house her brother Blake Clark rented in Riverside City, Nadia Clark's first impression was that it was a mess...

Despite Valerie's glamorous appearance, she turned out to be someone who didn't like to tidy up.

"Blake Clark, your sister is here. Get up!"

Valerie shouted as she walked into the bedroom.

Bang! The door slammed shut.

Nadia Clark dragged her suitcase and hopped on one foot to the couch, moving aside the scattered magazines to sit down.

"Idiot, be gentle!" Valerie's playful voice came from inside the room.

"Baby... let me kiss you..."

"Your sister is still outside!"

"But I want you now..."

Nadia couldn't make out the rest of their conversation. She hadn't expected the room's soundproofing to be so poor.

The apartment wasn't large, just a one-bedroom with a living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Nadia looked around; it resembled a studio apartment. From the outside, the apartment building looked quite impressive.

More importantly, right across from this apartment building was the famous Mitchell Family Group's headquarters. Nadia had heard about this company from her classmates and teachers at school.

It was a well-known real estate company in the country, but their business extended beyond real estate to include hotels, shopping malls, and other industries.

Unfortunately, this big company didn't accept interns.

Click— The door suddenly opened.

Nadia looked up to see her brother, Blake Clark, poking his head out with an embarrassed expression. "Nadia, could you go downstairs and buy me a pack of condoms?"

"Me?" Nadia Clark was taken aback.

Her brother, Blake Clark, nodded eagerly like a pecking chick, then added with a mischievous grin, "My dear sister, please, it's an emergency!"

"Where can I buy it?" Nadia asked, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Blake grinned wider. "Right outside our apartment building, next to the entrance, by the snack vending machine. There's a vending machine for... you know, condoms."

"You're unbelievable!" Nadia grumbled, reluctantly getting up from the couch and hobbling toward the door.

Blake closed the door behind her, completely oblivious to Nadia's limp.

Meanwhile, Fletcher Mitchell, after finishing his tasks, realized he hadn't showered since last night and felt quite uncomfortable. He decided to head back to his apartment for a quick shower before picking up his "soon-to-be sister-in-law," Elise, in the afternoon.

As Fletcher arrived at the apartment building, he noticed a familiar girl limping out of the entrance. She approached the vending machines and examined them closely but didn't seem to insert any money.

Nadia was frustrated. She had never used a vending machine before and needed to figure it out.

Seeing her struggle, Fletcher walked over.

"Is your foot still not better?"

A familiar voice from behind startled Nadia. She turned around and saw the handsome, kind-hearted guy from this morning.

"My foot's fine!" Nadia Clark grinned widely.

Fletcher Mitchell instinctively glanced at Nadia's foot, feeling that she hadn't been faking her limp when she walked out earlier.

"What a coincidence! Running into you here!" Nadia continued.

Fletcher was about to mention that this apartment building was one of his properties but stopped himself. Instead, he kindly asked, "Do you need help with anything you're buying?"

"I'm here to buy some condoms, but I don't really know how to..." Nadia blurted out without thinking. Realizing her mistake, she quickly added, "I mean, I'm buying them for my brother and sister-in-law!"

"What brand do they need?" Fletcher asked calmly. Nadia wished she could dig a hole and disappear.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Fletcher asked, still composed.

By now, Nadia's face was bright red. "Just pick whichever brand you think is good..."

Nadia stammered, unable to come up with a better response and passing the decision back to the handsome man in front of her.

To her surprise, Fletcher also looked a bit helpless as he replied, "I've never used them either, so I don't know which brand is good."

"..." Nadia was at a loss for words. At that moment, Nadia's phone rang in her pocket.

She had no choice but to answer it. As soon as she picked up, her brother Blake Clark yelled through the phone, "Sis! What are you doing? How can it take so long to buy some condoms? Don't you know your sister-in-law is waiting?"

"Jerk, stop talking about me, okay?" Valerie's playful voice came through the receiver.

Nadia Clark was taken aback and asked, "Bro, which brand do you want?"

"Durex, ultra-thin, ribbed, and strawberry-flavored!" Blake Clark responded loudly.

Blake's voice was so loud that even Fletcher Mitchell, standing nearby, could clearly hear the brand he wanted.

"Oh!" Nadia replied, still in a daze. By the time she hung up, Fletcher had already gone to buy it for her.

"Ding— Please take your item. Thank you, and we hope to see you again," the vending machine's pleasant female voice announced.

Nadia instinctively looked down and retrieved the box of condoms from the machine.

"Thank you, let me pay you back..."

"No need," Fletcher said with a knowing smile, then headed toward the door.

Nadia limped after him. As Fletcher entered the elevator, he noticed Nadia hadn't followed, so he stepped out to check.

He saw Nadia hopping on one foot, her face contorted in pain.

"Didn't Ulyssa take you to see a doctor this morning?" Fletcher suddenly asked.

Nadia Clark lifted her head and found herself meeting Fletcher Mitchell's earnest gaze.
