Chapter 15: The Forgotten Code

Chapter 15: The Forgotten Code

The air in the Realm of the Forgotten was heavy—dense with an unnatural presence, as if the world itself was watching him.

Amir took a slow breath, feeling the weight of the place press against his chest.

His HUD flickered again, lines of glitched code flashing in and out of existence. Whatever had happened in the Void Safe Zone had done something to his system—no, to his entire existence within VirtuaGenesis.

---

System Notification:

Warning: You have entered an Unstable Zone.

Time Distortion: 1 minute in reality = 10 minutes here

Data Integrity: 80% (Corruption detected)

Map Data: Unavailable

ERROR: SYSTEM CANNOT VERIFY PLAYER STATUS

---

Amir frowned.

"System cannot verify my status...?" He muttered, opening his character menu.

The screen stuttered before loading, then—

---

Player Status: Amir Zainal

Level: ??

Class: ??

HP: ???/???

Mana: ???/???

Stamina: ???/???

Void Corruption: 6% (Stable)

Attributes: ERROR—Data Cannot Be Retrieved

---

His stats were unreadable.

It wasn't just his HP or mana—his class, level, and even skill trees were missing.

Panic threatened to creep in, but Amir forced himself to stay calm. His hands clenched into fists. This wasn't the time to lose it.

"Think. What do I have left?"

He checked his inventory, but most of the items were greyed out, marked as "Unavailable."

Except for two things.

1. The Lucky Relic (??? - Artifact)

2. Void Manipulation (Unstable)

He focused on the Lucky Relic, and the moment he did, a strange warmth pulsed through his body. His vision sharpened, the world around him seeming less foreign—like something was shifting to align with him.

For a brief moment, his HUD stopped glitching.

And then—

A low hum reverberated through the air.

Amir's eyes darted up as the sky split apart, cracks of violet energy pulsing across the crimson void above.

Something was coming.

A shadowed figure began to descend.

---

System Alert:

A Forgotten Sentinel has Awakened.

Hostile Entity Detected

Scanning Player...

Status: ERROR—PLAYER DATA NOT FOUND

New Designation: ANOMALY

---

Anomaly?

Before Amir could react, the Sentinel moved.

It was fast—a blackened blur with no defined shape, shifting between multiple forms at once. One second, it was a towering humanoid, the next, it was a shifting swarm of corrupted code, its edges unstable, flickering in and out of reality.

But one thing was certain.

It saw Amir as a threat.

And it was about to erase him.

Amir's instincts screamed at him to move, but his body felt heavy, like he wasn't fully in control of himself anymore.

"Void Manipulation—!" He tried activating his only remaining skill, but—

---

Skill Activation Failed.

ERROR: VOID ENERGY UNSTABLE.

---

The Sentinel lunged.

Amir barely dodged, the ground where he stood erupting into data fragments, breaking apart into floating shards of corrupted code.

His heartbeat pounded. I can't fight this thing. Not like this.

I need a way out.

Then—

The Lucky Relic pulsed again, and for the first time, a new prompt appeared.

---

System Prompt:

[Accept the Relic's Guidance]

[Attempt to Flee on Your Own]

---

Amir hesitated for only a second before choosing [Accept the Relic's Guidance].

The moment he did—

Reality shattered.

---

New Location: ???

When Amir opened his eyes, he was no longer in the Realm of the Forgotten.

He was standing in a vast, endless space, filled with floating geometric structures, shifting between solid and transparent.

It was like stepping inside the game's source code—as if he had gone beyond the game itself.

A voice echoed.

Soft. Familiar. Not human.

"You are not supposed to be here."

Amir turned, his breath catching.

A figure stood before him.

A hooded entity, with no visible face—only a swirling void of numbers and data, forming and unforming in endless sequences.

And then—

The system spoke again.

---

System Notification:

You have encountered: The Architect

??? - Unknown Entity

Status: Observer

Affiliation: UNKNOWN

---

The Architect tilted its head slightly, observing Amir.

Then, it spoke.

"You are an anomaly. And anomalies... must be corrected."

After that, the anomaly tried to delete Amir's data and memory. And sent Amir to a place where all the players were trying to achieve VirtuaGenesis again.

Will Amir remember this incident?
