Chapter 36: ENTERING THE CITY (2)

Ray then waited until Lily finished eating, settled the bill at the breakfast stall, and left with Lily and Jay in tow.

The first ray went to the docking station, met with the officer who was staying there, and introduced himself.

"Hello, I'm Ray, I have docked my ship at your port, I want to register it here and apply for docking space and regular cleaning service and my requirement is a place with as high security as possible," Ray spoke while showing his ship to the dock supervisor.

"The supervisor who was doing his work at the office heard Ray's introduction and saw the ship Ray had shown and thought for a second and asked, " Do you need extra docking space or a completely special area where you will be allocated separate space exclusively for your ship area in which your ship will be enclosed from the outside world and you can also have a various equipment in there if you want to do maintenance."

"What are the prices for both choices? "Asked Ray.

"Sir for the first one it will be one silver coin per day and any additional space requires some more money while the second choice requires 1 coin per day." The officer replied.

"Ok, I will choose the second one." Ray thought the prices were really expensive and chose an option.

Even though the price was high for the second one, Ray thought of Goldie and chose an enclosed area so she could stay there safely.

"How many days are you going to stay." The officer inquired.

Ray doesn't know how long he will be staying in the city, so he takes a white gold coin from his pocket and places it on the table.

"I don't know the specific length but give me a receipt for One white gold coin and you can reduce the amount for my stay and return the change while I'm departing or if my stay prolongs, I will come and pay the rest of the amount in a few days while informing you."

The officer hadn't seen such a long-staying customer in their dock for a long time and immediately arranged Dock No. 9 for the ship to stay. 

It was near the supervisor's office, and he could keep an eye on the ship and protect it from any miscreant's attacks on the ship for any valuables.

Ray thanked him, tipped him for his work, and instructed him not to allow anyone near his ship. He then went outside boarded the ship, moved it to the hangar, and parked it inside.

After parking the ship and instructing Goldie to stay in the hangar and asked her to hide her presence while protecting the ship and closed the hangar doors while firmly locking it.

Ray then safely put the key into his pockets and started walking around the dock area.

After crossing the dock Ray soon reached the main road which directly connects to the inner city.

Ray soon hailed a carriage and boarded it with the rest of the two children who were walking beside him with hand in hand.

While on his way to the inner city, Ray observed the main road and noticed that the inner city had only one entrance exit. He also found that all the shops and markets along the way were predominantly occupied by the Black Fang gang.

Ray also remembered that there was a gang which was the reason for their withdrawal of the chief's family from the city among these.

I hope it is the Black Fang gang, then I can completely purchase the main road for my use after their elimination.

While he was thinking maliciously about the Black fangs the carriage stopped at the entrance and Ray got down to pay the toll to enter the inner city.

The toll was one white gold coin of any empire-issued currency which opened his eyes, and he thought the city lord was sitting on a gold mountain by owning a city.

After paying the toll for Him and Lily and the carriage passage charge which were additionally calculated they were allowed to enter the inner city.

Jay was allowed to enter after showing the inner-city residence certificate which will be issued if they own/rent a house or shop in the inner city.

Although the inner city is only about one mile big in radius it was surrounded by a 100-meter-tall wall and 10 meters in width, the gates of the inner city were made with specially treated metals with a thickness of 2 meters and they were pulled open and closed through a mechanical levers and gears.

As soon as he entered the inner-city Ray understood the reason behind the toll cost for entering the inner city.

The entire mile radius is covered in spiritual energy and unlike the outer city, the inner city only has one main road leading to the city hall, and all the shops and hotels/ inns are situated next to the main road.

The rest of the city is developed like a natural sanctuary with buildings being built with separate courtyards and forests surrounding them.

The entire city looked like it was built for reclusive members who wanted peace and wouldn't go out most of the time.

Ray liked the inner city and while he was enjoying the unique beauty of the city the carriage reached his destination and Ray got down after paying him the money.

As the chief mentioned the hotels and inn in the city are monopolized by the city lord's mansion.

The name of the inn was Black Rock Family Inn, Ray entered the inn and once again opened his eyes wide when he heard the room cost for a single room for one day.

It costs one white gold coin for one person to stay, which doesn't include meals.

It is about an average common man's years' worth of salary just for one day.

Although Ray can create unlimited money, he hasn't lost the core values from the previous world so grits his teeth while paying them and booked a double room for seven days and lodges in the city.
