Chapter 30: The Whispers of Tale

"The Elder Yggdrasil Talan? The protector of Wrym Haven, you say?"

Zereth's voice carried across the grand hall, smooth yet edged with something sharp. His crimson eyes, cold as tempered steel, locked onto the trembling messenger before him. A heavy silence pressed into the air, thick with the weight of what had just been spoken.

"Yes, my lord," the messenger answered, his voice barely above a whisper. "The Elder has come…personally."

That alone was enough to send a ripple of unease through the chamber.

No one saw the Elder of Wrym Haven. Not in this lifetime, nor the last. The enchanted forest had always remained beyond the reach of mortals, hidden behind layers of ancient magic. Its guardian, Yggdrasil Talan, was nothing more than a myth to many—a figure spoken of in whispers, a force felt but never seen. And yet. . .they were here.
