The black getaway car rolled to a stop in front of a neat, suburban house with a white picket fence—an ironic contrast to the bullet-riddled life Kai usually led. He took a deep breath, straightened his jacket, and gave Leon a warning look.
"Listen, no jokes about my double life, alright?" Kai muttered.
Leon smirked, leaning against the steering wheel. "Relax, man. I'll be on my best behavior."
"That's exactly what worries me," Kai sighed, stepping out of the car.
Just as he reached the front door, it flew open, and Nami came rushing out. Without a second's hesitation, she tackled him into a hug, almost knocking the air out of him.
"Kaiiiii! You didn't tell me you were coming today!" she squealed, squeezing him tight.
Kai coughed. "S-Surprise?"
She pulled back, hands on her hips, her lips curving into a smirk. "You can't just show up unannounced looking all handsome and expect me not to attack you."
Leon, still sitting in the car, rolled down the window and muttered, "Man's got a whole second life and still doesn't know how to handle his wife flirting with him."
Kai shot him a glare before turning back to Nami, who was already dragging him inside. "Come on, you have to see Hani—he's been waiting for you!"
Before Kai could even process it, a small, energetic blur tackled his legs. Hani, his five-year-old son, grinned up at him with an expression that could only mean one thing—chaos.
"Dad! Guess what?" Hani said, eyes sparkling.
Kai crouched down, bracing himself. "What?"
"I broke the TV!"
Kai blinked. "…Excuse me?"
Nami sighed dramatically. "He was trying to do ninja flips off the couch."
Hani nodded proudly. "I almost landed it!"
Kai pinched the bridge of his nose. "You almost landed in the hospital."
From outside, Leon cackled. "This kid's got your energy, man. You're doomed."
Kai shot Leon another look before lifting Hani into his arms. "Alright, let's go inside before you break the house next."
As soon as he stepped into the house, he felt the drastic shift from his usual life. No weapons, no missions, no near-death experiences—just warmth, laughter, and the constant smell of cookies, courtesy of Nami's obsession with baking.
They all sat down in the living room, where Hani was bouncing in place on the couch.
"Dad, do you have any cool stories?" Hani asked, eyes wide.
Kai stiffened. "Uh… well, I… work at a—"
"Accounting firm," Nami finished for him, smiling. "He works with numbers all day, sweetheart."
Leon, still by the door, snorted so loudly that Kai swore he'd get him back for it later.
Hani made a face. "Boring! I bet you're actually a secret spy."
Kai almost choked on air. "W-What? That's ridiculous."
Leon whispered under his breath, "Kid's onto you."
Hani, still convinced, grabbed a toy gun and struck a dramatic pose. "I'm gonna be a spy when I grow up! And then I'll have an awesome spy name like… Shadow Falcon!"
Kai chuckled, ruffling his son's hair. "Shadow Falcon, huh? That's a pretty cool name."
Nami suddenly leaned in, resting her chin on Kai's shoulder. "I think your spy name should be 'Hotshot.'"
Kai turned red instantly. "W-What?"
Leon whistled from the door. "Yup, I like her. She's got game."
Kai shot him a glare that promised future suffering.
As the evening went on, they had dinner together—homemade pasta courtesy of Nami. Hani talked nonstop, telling Kai all about his 'adventures' in kindergarten, including a heated debate over whether sharks were better than dinosaurs.
By the time Kai was getting ready to leave, Hani had fallen asleep on the couch, and Nami was snuggled up beside him, her fingers intertwined with Kai's.
"You should come home more often," she murmured, looking up at him with those warm, knowing eyes.
Kai swallowed hard. "I will. I promise."
Leon honked from outside. "Yo, lover boy! We got places to be!"
Kai sighed. "I hate guy."
Nami giggled. "Drive safe, Hotshot."
As Kai walked to the car, he took one last glance at his wife and son, feeling the heavy contrast between this life and his other one.
Leon smirked as he started the engine. "So… when are you telling them you're not actually an accountant?"
Kai exhaled. "Hopefully? Never."
And with that, the car sped off into the night, back to a world where "accounting" involved a whole lot more bullets.
