As Zero flew over an alley, he spotted three thugs cornering a young student.
"Hey, little shit! I told you since you didn't pay us yesterday, you owe us double today!" one of them snarled.
The student, despite trembling, stood his ground. "No! I've already given you enough! You should be grateful!"
The thug's face twisted in anger. "Tch. This rich brat thinks he's better than us."
One of them raised a fist, ready to strike. "Acting all tough when you're just a half-elf!"
Suddenly, time froze. A notification appeared in Zero's vision:
[Possess the student's body and protect him.]
A clickable UI popped up:
[Possess]
Zero didn't hesitate he tapped the option.
His soul surged into the boy's body. Instantly, he felt a shift. "Wow… this body is different. I might need a second to adjust."
The thug's fist was already mid-air, inches from his face.
But Zero wasn't the same weak student.
He dodged effortlessly and countered with a brutal uppercut, knocking the thug out cold. He instinctively fell into a southpaw stance, a confident smirk forming.
"Surprisingly, this body is pretty fit."
The other two thugs barely had time to react before he dropped them in mere seconds.
"Tsk. I thought they'd be at least a little strong."
[Quest Completed.]
Zero's soul was ejected from the student's body.
As the boy regained consciousness, he blinked in shock, staring at the unconscious thugs. "Holy shit… did I do this?!" He clenched his fists, a wide grin spreading.
Watching from above, Zero smirked. "Of course he's excited he's a loser."
But then… something unexpected happened.
The boy suddenly looked up.
Zero froze. "Huh?"
The boy's eyes widened in shock before he quickly lowered his head. "Shit! Me and that spirit just made eye contact! I can't let him know I saw him..."
He turned to leave.
"Hey." Zero's voice turned serious.
He flew in front of the student, blocking his path. "Can you see me?"
The boy clenched his jaw and walked straight through him.
"Fuck. Ignore him. Ignore him." The student thought, trying not to react.
Zero's annoyance flared. "You little shit, be grateful I saved you!"
The student flinched. Slowly, he turned back. "Th-thank you…?"
Zero's eyes widened before he grinned like a madman. "YESSSSS!!!"
His laughter echoed through the alley.
"You can actually see me, kid? FINALLY! Someone can see me!"
The student swallowed nervously. He took a good look at Zero… and then it hit him. His eyes widened in shock.
"Holy shit… Lockerum?!"
Zero's grin turned smug. "Yes?"
The student practically jumped in excitement. "I'm a HUGE fan, dude! I have ALL your merch! Even the action figures!"
Zero's smirk twitched. "…Wow, he really sounds like a loser right now."
"Thanks." Zero said, amused. "Anyway, how can you see me?"
The kid hesitated. "Uh… I can see spirits."
Zero raised an eyebrow. "Really?"
The student nodded quickly. Then, his curiosity got the better of him.
"Wait… how did you die? You didn't actually get killed by that villain, right? Maybe you got jumped or something?!"
His excitement was palpable.
Zero's expression darkened.
"I was betrayed…" Zero's voice dropped, filled with bitterness.
Zion's eyes lowered. "By who?"
"I don't know," Zero admitted. "But during the war, a group of heroes executed me."
Zion's expression darkened. "Maybe the government was involved? After they built that statue of you, they never even checked this area again. My family is the only one still taking care of it!" He puffed out his chest, clearly proud.
Zero raised an eyebrow. "Why would you do that?"
Zion grinned. "You probably don't remember, but eight years ago, you saved my family."
Zero blinked, caught off guard. Before he could respond, Zion continued, "Oh, right! I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Zion Asyphre!"
Zero let out a small chuckle, the first real smile he had in years. "I see… Nice to meet you, kid. I'm Zero Eurom."
Zion laughed. "Wow, you actually know how to smile?" Then, his eyes narrowed in thought. "Your last name… it sounds familiar."
Zero tilted his head. "Oh?"
"My father owns one of the biggest elf-run companies," Zion said proudly.
Zero's chest tightened. So someone actually did all this… cleaning my statue, keeping my name alive… just to show their gratitude? A tear welled up in his eye before he quickly wiped it away.
Zion frowned. "Wait… are you crying?"
Zero turned away. "It's nothing…"
Then
[Be one with Zion.]
[Main Quest: Use Zion Asyphre's body to seek revenge on those who betrayed you.]
Zero's veins bulged in frustration. "What?!" He turned to Zion, staring at the boy's innocent face.
"Absolutely not."
"Huh?" Zion looked confused.
Another notification appeared
[Connect / No]
[Punishment: The system will be erased. You will become an eternal spirit, unable to rest or leave this area.]
Zero clenched his fists. His body trembled, not with fear but rage.
"You're forcing me to take this kid's body…?"
His teeth gritted. 'Damn it…'
Zion, still confused, waved his hand in front of Zero's face—accidentally tapping the floating UI.
[Connecting...]
[Successful.]
A collar appeared around Zero's neck, while a glowing bracelet formed on Zion's right hand.
Zero's eyes widened in shock. "Kid! What did you just do?!"
"Huh?" Zion tilted his head, still clueless.
Zero's fists clenched. Why the hell could he even click it?!
"You just agreed to a system that binds us together! It means you're now involved in my revenge, and I have to use your body!" Zero yelled.
Zion, instead of panicking, simply grinned. "It's okay, Mr. Zero."
Zero froze. "Huh? You could be in serious danger, kid!"
"So what?" Zion shrugged. "I'll just train harder. I'll become the next you!"
Zero's frustration grew. "You don't understand. This is my revenge. You don't need to throw yourself into it."
Zion's expression turned firm, his usual brightness fading. "Sir, my family owes you our lives. If this is the only way we can repay you even if it means sacrificing myself I'll do it." His voice held no hesitation.
Zero stared at him for a long moment, then sighed, defeated. "Fine. But for your safety, we're going to train. Hard."
Zion's grin returned. "Of course!"
[Successful connection established.]
[Zion now has access to the system. The Soul Shop has been unlocked. You can now purchase items using Soul PP currency.]
Zero exhaled, looking at Zion with new eyes. This kid… might just be crazier than me.
"Fucker he can already interact with the system since earlier." He thought mad at the system
Zion's eyes lit up as he stared at the massive monitor wall displaying real-time data from the system.
"Wow… so this is our system? The one the government provides?" he asked, excitement evident in his voice.
"Yes," Zero responded nonchalantly.
Zion turned to him eagerly. "When are we going to start training?"
Zero raised an eyebrow. "What about your parents? And school?"
Zion's expression faltered for a moment before he forced a small smile. "They don't really care about me, to be honest. I live alone in a mansion with just my maids. As for school… my mom told me I could drop out if I planned on becoming a hero."
"I see…" Zero muttered, studying the boy closely.
"Can we start tomorrow?" Zion asked, his eyes practically glowing with anticipation.
Zero sighed. "Sure."
"Yes! Please do!" Zion grinned.
Zero smirked inwardly. This kid is way too easy to convince… I'm surprised he hasn't been kidnapped yet.
"Let's go to my house first. I need to grab some clothes," Zion said, already heading for the exit.
Zero nodded, following him. As they arrived at Zion's massive mansion, Zero couldn't help but take in the sheer luxury surrounding him. From towering crystal chandeliers to priceless artworks lining the halls, everything screamed wealth.
"Damn… I guess being rich really is a different level. Even as an SSS-rank, I wouldn't be able to afford a place like this," he thought.
"It's mostly sponsorships that gives money," Zion commented casually, as if reading Zero's mind.
A few minutes later, Zion emerged from his room carrying an oversized duffel bag slung over his shoulder.
Zero raised an eyebrow. "What's in there?"
"Clothes and food!" Zion replied cheerfully.
Zero eyed the bulging bag. "That's… way too much."
"Nah, it's fine," Zion dismissed, already heading for the door.
Zero shook his head. This kid, man…
"Anyways were are we training?" Zion asked "I don't know also." "Are you serious?" Both of them have a serious complex face "yes." A notification pops up

They both clenched their fist excitedly
"Fucker, he's been able to interact with the system this whole time." Zero thought, annoyed at the system.
Now that Zion had access to it, he examined the UI with excitement. "Wow! Is this our system? Like the ones the government provides?"
"Yes." Zero answered flatly.
"When are we starting training?" Zion asked eagerly.
Zero raised a brow. "Uh, what about your parents? And school?"
Zion's excitement faded slightly. "They don't really care about me, to be honest. I live alone in a mansion with just my maids. As for school... my mom said I can drop out if I decide to become a hero."
"I see..." Zero muttered. This kid's life isn't as perfect as it looks.
"Then we can start tomorrow if you want," Zero suggested.
"Yes! Please!" Zion grinned.
"This kid is too trusting… I'm surprised he hasn't been kidnapped yet," Zero thought.
"Let's go to my house, Mr. Zero! I'll pack my things!"
Zero nodded and followed Zion to his massive mansion. As they entered, he took in the sheer luxury of the place glistening chandeliers, high-end furniture, and expensive artifacts.
"Damn… being rich is on another level. Even as an SSS-ranked hero, I never made enough to afford a mansion like this," Zero thought. "Most of my income came from sponsorships."
Zion soon returned, carrying a massive bag.
"What's that?" Zero asked.
"Clothes and food!" Zion replied cheerfully.
"That's too much."
"Nah, it's fine."
"Anyway, where are we training?" Zion asked.
Zero blinked. "Uh… I don't know."
A moment of silence. Both of them had the same serious, blank expression.
"Are you serious?"
"Yes."
Just then, a system notification popped up.

"Whoa!" Zion immediately clicked Yes.
"Hey! Why did you click it?! I didn't even read it yet!" Zero yelled.
