The vast system was in motion. With each of its mechanisms working precisely, the father made sure to leave it automatically. His calculations were accurate: the doors would open at the right time, and the humans would receive their awakening as planned.
The young man still did not fully understand what that emotion meant inside him. His rational mind tried to make sense of it, but his heart beat with a force that defied all logic.
On the other hand, in the human world, an imposing figure manifested itself in nothing. The dimensional god appeared in that icy landscape, feeling for the first time the cold that pierces the bones, the harsh breeze against his skin. Until now, he had observed human existence as a mere spectator, without getting involved, without really understanding what it meant to suffer, love, fear or hope.
But now... now I felt everything.
The cold enveloped him, not only physically, but in the depths of his being. The hunger, the loneliness, the anguish that humans had endured during their boredom... it was more than a simple knowledge, it was a real experience.
"Is this what you have felt all this time?" he whispered to himself, observing his trembling hands, the steam of his breath fading into the icy air.
For the first time in his infinite existence, he felt guilty. He had governed from above, thinking that understanding was the same as seeing. But seeing was not the same as feeling. He had condemned humans to a reality that he had never experienced in his own flesh.
Now I understood it.
Understanding weighed on his soul like a slab. If he wanted to change something, if he really wanted to amend his actions, he had to learn, he had to live like them. Only then could I make a fair decision.
As he reflected on his words and curled up in a corner, it was the moment when he saw him.
Lyon
I was there, watching him.
His eyes reflected the pale light of the room. His skin, cold like the environment that surrounded them, showed no surprise, but a slight tension.
I couldn't talk. I couldn't move. With just that look and that inexplicable intensity it made him feel... exposed.
For the first time in his existence, he felt small.
His mind told him that he should talk, explain himself, tell him who he was. But for some reason, I couldn't. It wasn't fear. It was not a doubt. It was something deeper, something he couldn't define or understand clearly, but he was sure of one thing and it was that his heart was about to explode if it kept beating so fast.
Lyon took a step forward.
"Who are you?" he asked in a firm voice, but with a hint of hidden curiosity.
I didn't have an answer.
I had always known who it was. He had always been the dimensional god, the creator, the architect of the system. But now, here, trapped in this human form, feeling the cold, gravity, vulnerability...
Was he still the same?
He remained silent.
And at that moment, he understood the most terrifying truth of all.
It wasn't enough to be in this world. It wasn't enough to feel the cold or gravity.
If he wanted to understand Lyon... he had to become like him.
Not a god.
Not an observer.
But a being who lives and feels.
"Are you okay?"
"My son, I am your father, your name in the mortal world is... Zhen Yu"
Although he couldn't answer his father, he made a sound of affirmation. On the other hand, Lyon looked at the boy in front of him, a feeling of protection invaded him.
"I'm... Zhen Yu," the dimensional god spoke quietly. "I'm lost...
"It's okay, we can go together, I'm Lyon Zhao, the shelter is nearby, in that place you can warm up and eat something.
It was then that Lyon, with a silent determination, extended his hand towards him, as an offer of help and protection, a simple gesture but full of meaning.
Zhen Yu, without thinking about it, took Lyon's hand with a slight sigh, his contact marking a connection that quickly became palpable. In doing so, a sense of security invaded him, replacing the vulnerability he had been feeling since he had arrived in this strange and unknown world. In that simple touch, Zhen Yu found a shelter he didn't know he needed.
Lyon, for her part, felt her heart take an unexpected turn. Having Zhen Yu so close, feeling the softness of his skin and the warmth that emanated from him, something inside him began to change. A feeling that had never been reciprocated before woke up with the person next to him. It was a spark, an immediate connection, something that made him feel strange but at the same time, deeply attracted.
Lyon's pulse accelerated, his mind was filled with thoughts that intertwined with the urgency of the current situation. What was he feeling in times of danger? Why had he been attracted to Zhen Yu, if it was his first time seeing him? Inside him there was an inexplicable desire, but also a concern about the situation around them. The dimensional doors would continue to open for what the system said and the monsters would begin to emerge, a constant threat that seemed to suffocate him, if none of this had happened... he would have the intention of inviting Zhen Yu out.
With that internal conflict, Lyon tried to calm his mind, remembering that it was not the time. Despite the attraction I felt, I knew there were bigger things at stake. The safety of people, the fate of the world, the creatures that would emerge from the doors... All this was more important at that time. His instinct told him that he should be strong, that he should concentrate on what really mattered.
As they walked, Zhen Yu was blushing up to his ears, the hands of the hunter he saw from his throne, were completely different and his warmth made him feel strange.
Lyon was still in his mental debate, I can't fall in love. Not at this time, not while the world was on the verge of collapse. Not while there were monsters lurking, dimensional doors opening at unexpected moments, and Zhen Yu, simply, was seeking refuge. It wasn't the time.
But despite his efforts to rationalize, his heart had already made the first leap to a place he had not anticipated. A place where Zhen Yu was more than just a stranger. And Lyon knew that, in some corner of his being, something had changed.
Lyon was reproaching himself, why he had been captivated by Zhen Yu's beauty. And how could he react like that, knowing that he must protect his family, or give him more problems.
Finally, they arrived at the shelter, a small shelter that offered a feeling of calm between the storm. Lyon opened the door, letting the heat inside envelop them. Zhen Yu approached the fire, his face illuminated by the light of the flames, but Lyon couldn't stop looking at him. Although he tried to maintain control over his emotions, the connection between them was already there, like an invisibly strong current.
He was a little silly to bring him to his shelter, but in the other house was his mother and sister, he didn't want anything to happen to them, however, it was more like a small desire for possessiveness that he had had.
