As Silviya entered the city, it was silent. There was no nightlife, and everywhere was dark. Occasionally, a few drunk men staggered out of bars, but that was it.
'What to do... Hey, are you sleepy? Maybe we should book an inn,' I asked her. It was late, and tomorrow would be a busy day, so rest was necessary. But contrary to what I expected, her reply surprised me.
'I don't need to sleep, my lord, nor do I need to eat,' she responded through the mental hub, a shocking revelation. But thinking about it, it made sense—in the game, player characters never needed sleep or food. Could that have carried over here?
Does that mean she doesn't age too?
'I see… So what will you do? I don't mind staying awake all night with you, but it feels like more action will come during the day, and I'd rather watch that,' I told her, adjusting my pillow and getting ready to sleep.
The lights were already off—Mira had turned them out a while ago. I lay awake, hoping for some kind of interesting event in the city. But with how dead it was at night, there was no way anything exciting would happen.
Just as I was thinking that, two hooded figures approached and passed by us. One was as large as an ogre, while the other was the size of a human. They stopped for a moment, glancing at Silviya, but quickly moved on.
'I didn't know ogres could live in human cities too, my lord,' Silviya said, curious.
'I have no clue about what can and can't happen any more than you do—wait, he was actually an ogre?' I asked, a little shocked.
'I believe he is half-ogre and half-human. But yes, he is an ogre, and the girl walking with him is weak as well. An interesting duo, but that's it. They're not a threat,' she said, dismissing their power.
'I see… You really like to judge people by their power, huh?' I asked, curious about how she viewed others.
'Not just power in terms of magic or combat, but politics, economy, and much more. Combat power comes down to birth and talent, but lacking in everything else is a personal choice. And if that's your choice, then you are simply a cog,' she said, almost indifferent toward those without influence.
Is this really just pride? Or is there something else behind her way of thinking? Whatever it is, it's clear she's an interesting person for sure.
As we moved deeper into the city, Silviya jumped onto a rooftop, getting a better view from above.
Below us was a silent, dark town. Many medieval-style houses, a fountain at the city center, and a park a bit further away. A normal town.
Nothing special. No nightlife, no movement—just a few people walking around with lanterns and some guards patrolling. Other than that, the town was dead.
Even if someone died here, it felt like they wouldn't be found until morning. The silence was almost eerie, like a horror scene, where even the wind could be heard before any human sound in a city that, according to the maids, was one of the liveliest during the day.
'I believe my lord should sleep. If anything interesting happens, I shall call you,' she said through our mental link. I agreed, trusting her, and let sleep take over.
POV Shift: Silviya
The moment I felt my lord drift into sleep, I immediately vanished from my position, leaping across rooftops in pursuit of my targets.
I tracked them swiftly, following the suspicious duo—the half-ogre and the human girl from earlier.
Landing silently in front of them, I pointed my spear at the giant half-ogre, my eyes locked onto him.
'No matter how I think about it, you are definitely suspicious. Tell me, what are you doing so late at night?' I asked, voice steady, ready to cut them down if they answered incorrectly.
With power came responsibility. I don't care what happens to mere cogs, but that doesn't mean I will allow evil to fester. A cog may still have use, but a rusty one should be thrown away.
Keeping my spear's back end pointed at the half-ogre, I could see the smaller human figure panicking, looking between me and the giant beside her. I had no reason to kill them just yet, but I wouldn't hesitate if they made a move.
The half-ogre looked at my ears for a moment before his gaze returned to my face. Then, without hesitation, he grabbed my spear's shaft and tried to yank me forward.
But my body didn't move at all.
Now that the fight had started, my lord wouldn't call me out for it. At least, that's what I believed. He seemed to prefer playing things slow and smart, but that felt troublesome. When you have the advantage, like I do, its better to press forward. That's how you win.
'My lord, are you watching? It seems the fun you were waiting for is here.'
I could feel his attention shift to me.
Axel's POV
Hearing her voice, I opened my eyes. I didn't even get to fall asleep before she found something interesting. Figures.
I turned my focus to what was happening. The half-ogre was struggling to pull her in with one hand, yet she just stood there, completely unaffected.
That didn't make sense. Spearmen weren't that strong. And a half-ogre should be a level 20 monster.
Something wasn't adding up.
I frowned and pulled up her stats.
No way...
[Stat Analysis]
Superior Race Perk:
+1 bonus to all stats per level
Rare Race Perk:
+30% enhancement to physical ability+10% enhancement to magic ability
Wait, what the hell?
In the game, I had picked High Elves for their crit rate and nature affinity, nothing else. Other races were better at raw combat.
But here? Here, they were a superior race by default—a natural boost that money to achieve in the game.
And it didn't stop there. On top of her minor racial stat bonuses, she had the major stat boosts from the Spearman class.
Even though she was only level 3, her stats were closer to a level 20 fighter.
The +1 to all stats per level was insanely broken—especially before level 50. In the game, you didn't even get one point per stat every level, and sometimes you'd get nothing at all due to skill acquisition level. But here?
She gets it every single time.
That meant as long as she kept leveling, her growth would be exponential. Even a mediocre build would become broken under these conditions. And she won't even be mediocre—she will be optimized how broken will be she then?.
She's gonna be a boss, isn't she?
That's insane.
The level gap between 1 and 50 was narrow, and most skills didn't even provide stat boosts. But she didn't have that weakness.
Here, reality didn't care about game balance.
I swallowed.
I created a monster.
Silviya didn't move.
The half-ogre strained, his muscles bulging as he tried to pull her forward. But she didn't even budge. It was like trying to drag a statue—one that didn't acknowledge his strength at all.
Then he switched tactics. His other hand grabbed her spear, attempting to wrestle it away.
She sighed. "How foolish"
In a single instant, the system notification flashed.
[Skill Activated: Vortex Rain]
Her spear came alive.
The butt-end of the weapon spun sharply, striking weak points across the ogre's body in rapid succession. It wasn't just a simple strike—it was precise, controlled, and merciless.
One second. Maybe even less.
The half-ogre lifted off the ground, his body twisting in the air as if struck by an invisible force.
Then he slammed into the street.
He bounced, rolled several meters, and finally came to a halt sprawled on the dirt.
I barely had time to process what happened.
The small hooded figure beside him? Frozen. Even though I couldn't see their face, their body language said everything.
They were terrified.
