“You gonna be alright?” Thomas hovers next to me as the sound of the crowded ballroom crashes over us.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when he said he wanted to bring me to this, but I suppose the grand splendor of this place wasn’t it. Because from the moment we arrived, my senses have been overwhelmed by it all. Though having Thomas and Azriel here has helped a lot.
“Honestly? My heart is in my goddamn throat.”
“You’ll be fine,” Azriel swipes his hand through the air.
“What am I even doing here?” I ask, panic rising in my throat.
“Looking like a million bucks.” Azriel leans close, placing his hand on my back. It’s bare thanks to the knockout dress they’ve put me in, and his touch radiates heat through my skin. “Just stick close and keep your mouth shut.”
