Chapter 33: Diversion

Azriel

Son of a bitch.

Halfias is here?

I already had my reservations about this whole scheme, but are you fucking kidding me?

Emily cowers behind me while Halfias cranes his neck to leer at her over my shoulder. If I was sticking to the cover story that she’s just my slave, I wouldn’t give a damn. But now that Emily and I are bonded, everything is different.

I’m different.

“It’s nice to see you, Azriel. And even nicer to see your companion this evening.” His eyes roam over her skin and he licks his chops. I’m the living definition of not in the fucking mood.

“Mind your business, Halfias. We’re here to relax.”

“Don’t be like that, Az.” The demon draws back from me, then leans in so close I can smell the brimstone on his breath. “Besides, you should remember, this little treat very nearly was my business. Speaking of which…” Those beady yellow eyes dart around the room. “Where’s that sneaky prick who bought her?”
