Chapter 87: Dinner For Two

Emily

When consciousness creeps back in around me, it’s dark outside. My skull is full of rocks and fog, and I struggle to remember who I am, let alone what’s happening.

Marek Kaine.

The image of his face looms at me from the shadows, and I jerk upright with a painful gasp. Sitting up only makes my head throb more, but I’m relieved to discover I’m alone. At least that’s something.

What’s less comforting is that I’m in a strange room, with no memory of how I got here. The last thing I remember is thumping my head on a Persian rug in a sumptuous library. Maybe the soft footsteps of Marek drawing closer as my brain spun into darkness.

The guys were right. This was a bad idea.

I was so blinded by knowing where my sister was I ran headlong into a terrible situation.

It was one thing to march in here in broad daylight with the intent of stealing Raya back, but that idea looks a lot less appetizing in the moonlight.
