Leander
Staring at the ceiling as the hours slip past, I can only think one thing.
I should have seen this coming.
Of course the Basilica was a trap all along. True, we need to find a way to protect The Obsidian Seal, but everything else was colossally naive on our parts. I mean, Naida St. John? The way she so calmly talked us through what we needed to do, even going so far as to offer herself as the blood anchor?
It’s a marvel none of us saw through her.
Well, except for Azriel. Which only makes me feel even more like a fool. Turns out his paranoia was justified all the way to his bones.
It kills me that I let my prejudices against him blind me to just how right he was. His hotheaded stomping around has worn my nerves right down to the ground, but it doesn’t change the fact that he was right. Maybe about all of it.
