Chapter 121: The Witching Way

The house has gained a lot of ground since we got back. Healing itself. 

 

Which is nice and all, but doesn’t really offer much in the way of real safety. Now that The Crimson Circle not only knows where we are but also knows that our defenses are weakened, it’s starting to feel more and more like a trap.

 

I suppose that’s exactly what it’s been. Even from the beginning. 

 

We were woefully unprepared for everything waiting for us here. Now we’re paying the price. Thomas is taking it very hard, sequestering himself in the study and burying himself in work. As if doubling down now will somehow make up for all the missteps we’ve made along the way.

 

Much as I’d like to tell him none of this is his fault, he’s the one who brought Naida in. He trusted her, and that very nearly got us all killed.
