Chapter 69: Noah

When I arrived at the office building, I barely noticed the city waking up around me. I pushed through the revolving doors and made a beeline for the receptionist’s desk.

There, a stack of newspapers sat, the day’s headlines screaming for my attention. I picked one up, but the moment I saw the front page, my hand acted on its own, crumpling the paper and tossing it into the nearest bin.

The press had been sniffing around again, curious about my “fiancée” and I. They wondered what had happened that we hadn’t been seen together lately.

It’s none of their fucking business, that’s what!

But there it was, splashed across the front page as if it was the most important news of the day. Did these people even care about how much harder they were making my life? How much stress were they putting on my employees? I’d promised them a raise, and these bastards were making it harder for me to keep the company out of stormy waters.
