The Great Sundering

And it came to pass that the war between the dragons and the gods waged on without end, and the world trembled under their fury.

In the absence of the Architect, the burden of balance fell upon Yggdrasil, the World Tree, and her children who stood by her side.

Seeing that the land of the west had become a place of endless war and suffering, Yggdrasil and her king resolved to sever it from the land of the gods, lest the chaos spread further.

And Yggdrasil, with sorrow in her voice, spake unto her children, saying,

"My beloved ones, hear me. The land of the west is tainted with war, and its shadows creep ever closer. If we do not act, all shall be consumed. The Architect entrusted this world to us, and so we must do what He would have done."

And her children, with solemn hearts, answered, "We shall do as you command, Mother, for we are born of you and shall bear this burden with you."

Then Yggdrasil turned to her king, the father of her children, and he spake, saying,

"The gods will not stand idly by as we divide the world, nor will the dragons of the west accept such a fate. If we do this, we must be prepared to bear their wrath."

And Yggdrasil, though weighed by sorrow, answered, "Then let them rage, but we shall not waver. The balance must be upheld."

And so, with the power of the World Tree and her children, the land of the west was sundered.

A great chasm, black as the void and deep beyond measure, tore through the world, stretching to the very core, its depths swallowing all who sought to cross.

The ground trembled, the skies darkened, and the wails of the forsaken ones echoed across the divide.

And from the heavens, the gods beheld the act of Yggdrasil and her kin, and they sent forth a voice of protest, saying,

"World Tree, what have you done? This land is not yours to sever! You play with the order of creation!"

But Yggdrasil answered, "I do only what must be done. If you would see this world destroyed in war, then you are no gods, but blind fools clinging to power."

And the gods, in their anger, swore vengeance, but they could not undo what had been done, for the chasm was eternal, a barrier beyond the reach of mortal and divine alike.

And so, the land of the west stood alone, severed from the gods, a place of turmoil and exile.

But Yggdrasil and her children remained steadfast, guardians of the world, ever watchful in the Architect's absence.

And though the balance had been restored for a time, all knew that this was but a delay, and that one day, the war would rise again.
