After a fierce battle against the mysterious guards, Xiao Shao and Mei Hua managed to escape to a remote cave in the mountains. Both were injured, but their spirits were not dampened. That night, they sat together, contemplating the events that had just occurred.
"Mei Hua," Xiao Shao said, his voice full of exhaustion, "what exactly happened? Why did they attack us?"
Mei Hua stared at the campfire burning in front of them, her face solemn. "I don't know for sure," she replied. "However, I feel like something bigger is going on. We must find out more."
The next day, they decided to return to the village where they had started their journey. They hoped to find some clues that could explain the attack.
Upon arriving at the village, they approached an elder who was known to be wise. After listening to their story, the elder said, "There is a legend that in these mountains there is an ancient artifact that holds incredible power. Many have searched for it, and not a few have disappeared."
"Do you know who is searching for it?" Xiao Shao asked.
The elder shook his head. "No one knows for sure. However, those who seek it usually have bad intentions."
Hearing that, Xiao Shao and Mei Hua felt even more certain that they should continue their search. They thanked the elder and decided to return to the cave where they had rested earlier.
In the cave, they prepared themselves for their next journey. Although they did not know what they would face, they knew that they had to continue their search for the sake of truth and the safety of the world.
"We must be careful," Mei Hua said. "The forces we are facing are far greater than we imagined."
Xiao Shao nodded. "However, we cannot retreat now. We must find out who is behind all this."
With determination, they continued their journey, ready to face the challenges and mysteries that lay ahead.
Their journey took them to a dense forest at the foot of the mountains. There, they found footprints that seemed to have been made recently. The tracks led deep into the forest, to an area they had never explored before.
"These are probably the tracks left by the guards who attacked us," Mei Hua said.
"Perhaps," Xiao Shao replied. "However, we must be careful. We do not know what awaits us in this forest."
They followed the trail, moving with caution and vigilance. After several hours of walking, they arrived at a large clearing. In the middle of the clearing, there was a large stone with strange symbols carved into its surface.
"What is this?" Mei Hua asked, approaching the stone.
Xiao Shao examined the symbols carefully. "These are ancient symbols from a long-extinct cultivation school," he replied.
"What does it mean?" Mei Hua asked.
"It means," Xiao Shao said, "that we have found a very important place. Perhaps this is where the ancient artifact is hidden."
They decided to search the area further. After a while, they found a door hidden behind some bushes, which seemed to lead underground.
"This is it," Xiao Shao said. "This door probably leads to where the artifact is kept."
They opened the door and descended into the darkness. Underground, they found a large room with walls covered with paintings and carvings depicting ancient history.
In the center of the room, there was an altar with a stone box on top. The box looked very old, but it was still intact.
"This is it," Mei Hua said. "The artifact must be inside this box."
However, before they could get close to the altar, a rumbling sound came from above. The ground began to shake, and the stones on the ceiling began to fall.
"We have to get out of here!" Xiao Shao shouted.
They ran towards the exit, but their path was blocked by falling rocks. They were trapped inside the room that was starting to collapse.
"What should we do?" Mei Hua asked, panicking.
"Calm down," Xiao Shao said. "We have to find a way to get out of here."
Quickly, they looked for a gap or another way out.
