Chapter 16:The Unexpected Encounter

Akane and Takeru decided to take a walk around the town, enjoying the peaceful evening atmosphere. As they strolled hand-in-hand, they stumbled upon Kaito, who was sitting alone at a street café.

Kaito looked up, his eyes locking onto Akane and Takeru. A mix of emotions flashed across his face, but he quickly composed himself.

"Akane, Takeru," Kaito said, his voice smooth as silk. "What a coincidence running into you both here."

Akane felt a shiver run down her spine as Kaito's gaze lingered on her. Takeru, sensing her unease, tightened his grip on her hand.Kaito stood up, his movements fluid and confident. "Mind if I join you?" he asked, his eyes locked onto Akane.

Takeru's grip on Akane's hand tightened, a subtle warning. "We're just about to head back," he said, his tone polite but firm.

Kaito chuckled, the sound low and husky. "Come on, Takeru. Don't be like that. I promise I won't bite... hard." He flashed Akane a charming smile.

Akane felt a flutter in her chest, despite herself. Kaito's charisma was undeniable, and she could see why he had so many admirers.

Takeru, however, was not amused. "Kaito, back off," he warned, his voice low and even.

Kaito raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh, Takeru. You're so possessive. It's cute."

Akane's face grew hot with discomfort. This was getting out of hand.Akane decided to intervene, trying to defuse the tension. "Hey, let's not fight, okay?" she said, her voice calm and soothing.

Takeru's grip on her hand relaxed slightly, but his eyes remained fixed on Kaito. Kaito, on the other hand, looked amused.

"Ah, Akane, you're so sweet," Kaito said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Always trying to keep the peace."

Akane's face grew hot with annoyance, but she kept her cool. "Kaito, stop it," she said firmly. "This isn't funny anymore."

Kaito raised an eyebrow, surprised by Akane's sudden assertiveness. For a moment, he looked taken aback.

Then, his expression changed, and he smiled again. "You know, Akane, I think I like you even more now," he said, his voice low and husky.

Takeru's eyes narrowed, his face darkening with anger. "Kaito, that's enough," he growled.

But Kaito just laughed, the sound echoing through the quiet streets. "Oh, this is just getting started," he said, his eyes glinting with mischief.

And with that, he turned and walked away, leaving Akane and Takeru staring after him in confusion.
