Revelation

Alex runs through the silent road, under the moonlight, accompanied by a howling wind. Piercing cold hits against his skin won't falter in his steps. Humans were gathered as loud as the chatterbox; decorated the center part of the region. Stand before him, a majestic building made of the latest and advanced technology, bright white color, smooth—polished as gleaming marble with neon. Guarded in unison by deadly robots, where above them displayed an enormous pride of Kizuna brand.Along with time, Alex wasted no single second and immediately was halted in front of the glass door. The guards reveal no favor towards him, judge by his look. Either a vagabond or fugitive, how they describe. But Alex pleaded and asked if he can get inside and speak to the front desk. They contemplate his request, consider it and finally deliver the message. After briefly scanning his body and finding no weapons, they led him to the luxury hall, where he could ask a few questions. The receptionist asked politely and gave him a warm smile, showing how she cares about guests who stop by."Excuse me, did Dr. Song work here?" Alex asked."Indeed, she is. What is your inquiry?""It is an urgent matter. I have to talk to her, just a few minutes; I promise."Her face shows doubt, but she can choose whether to help the poor guy or abandon him in his trouble."Very well... but, I cannot guarantee you; I'll call her and we'll see it later."Alex nods; at least it was better than left in uncertainty. He spots the nearby bench and sits on it, releasing the fatigue and sore over his body, slowly closing his eyes and relaxing. Not long after, he heard clicking shoes nearby. As Alex opens his eyes, he sees a beautiful woman, fair to light skin, bearing a sharp gaze, and crowned with a bob cut. She dons a black formal suit covered by a white coat over her slim body."Are you the one who seeks me? What is your name and what's your purpose here?""I'm Alex. I heard you're Dr. Song, a specialist in cloning and direct apprentice of Professor Viktor."She frowns upon listening to Alex's word."That is indeed me; what's the matter?""Do you know where Professor Viktor stays? I have to talk to him.""He's dead. Long time ago.""What? Then... how am I supposed to ask my needs?""And what exactly do you need?""It's too risky, and we need to talk about it in private.""Very well. Follow me to my chamber."Dr. Song walked towards the elevator beside the receptionist, and Alex followed her behind."Tell me, what is your need?""Fine, I guess. Professor Viktor said to be involved in an accident in the port around two years ago, about a murderer of a police officer.""I'm not sure about his involvement, but indeed he went to a port two years ago, and he said nothing to me if it was about a murderer case. But why? Why is he interested in such a thing?""If I tell you, perhaps you won't believe me.""What is it? I'm all ears.""The dead police were me. Yes, that was me, and strangely, I'm not remember anything at all. My friend said I have a big chance that the current one myself is a clone."Dr. Song's eye widened, trying to believe his word."You're... a clone? How can you be so sure?""To be honest, I'm still doubting myself, and that's why I have to meet him, but you said he passed away. So, I think you can help me.""Professor and I had run several tests upon the cloning experiment... you can say that I'm pretty experienced on this matter. Say, what if I conduct a test at you to check if you're truly a clone or not? It could help me further in this research and you get your answer."Alex sighs. "Fine, I guess that's the best for us.""Good, I expect immediate compliance.""Huh? Am I a dog or something?"She chuckles, "Don't get mad. I'm just playing with you. Let's get going."The elevator stopped, and greets them with an immense hall which left and right clearly visible of doors to various rooms. Both of them went to her room. The room is huge, comprises a personal kitchen, bathroom and even a personal laboratory, such a grandeur of everyone can imagine."Sit." She points at the special chair that is heavily messed by wires and unfamiliar devices. While Alex is waiting, she arranges her stuff and activates several things to conduct the test. She then focused on her computer screen—staring like a hawk, eyeing every letter and information that appeared. After some time, she saw the result."Alex... you're indeed a clone." She said in a flat tone."But there's something weird about your body.""I knew it," he said disappointedly, his chest tightening as his breath caught upon the revelation. Some part of him had already known—at least anticipated it—but still, it felt strangely new.He raised his eyebrows. "What is it?""Someone has locked a memory file on your cyberdeck. I don't know for how long it dwells inside your head... but it's well hidden.""Can you unlock it?""I'll try."Dr. Song once again handling her computer affair with total precision, not only an expert on biology but also on computer skill such as hacking. One hour has passed, and she unlocks it. She opens the file and there's a video of Professor Viktor, such a shock discovery. The video shows him inside his laboratory with a body which resembles Alex. In the video, he looks like in a hurry and panicking; the quality of the video sometime blurry. But thankfully, the important part was crystal clear."This is Professor Viktor, and if you found this video, it means I'm dead. Listen, I don't have much time. I just discovered a threat to mankind that will be done by Nexa Enterprise... they... will enslave people with their new chip called 'The Mastermind' and the body, which you can see behind me..."He shifts the camera slightly to show them Alex's lifeless body. "This man knows everything and witnessed it, but he dies. Fortunately, I have his cyberdeck and will transfer it to the new clone."Suddenly, a noise of someone shouting and aggressively knocking the door heard. Viktor hastens his speech."I will put the memory within the clone.... please, anyone discover this and stop them!" His last word before the screen goes blank.Dr. Song, who witnessed it, dropped tears from her eyes. As for Alex, he is just silent, seeing everything that is so unreal. Knowing his purpose was to uncover this dark secret. He gets up, removes his body from the devices, slowly walks towards her and consoles her."I'm sorry for that."She wipes her tears, shaking her head and acting tough despite everything. "Viktor... he died for this. He's a special person to me. Alex, the fate of people is in your hand, please... avenge him.""I will." Alex nodded and set his journey to put an end to this.
