Save Mommy

But in order to stay here with her child, Wen Yiran swallowed her anger.

She silently placed the cake on the table, but Su Wan still wouldn't let her go.

"Husband, Yiran is here, why didn't you tell me?" Su Wan curled her red lips into a smile and sat next to Fu Xichen, holding his arm like a little bird.

Fu Xichen casually let her hold his hand and said lightly, "She's just a servant now."

Wen Yiran's hand clenched slightly, and she sneered but didn't say anything.

Fu Xichen's face darkened, but he didn't say anything either.

Su Wan, however, smiled and said, "Yiran, it must have been hard raising a child alone all these years. But I'm sure someone has been taking care of you and your child, right?"

Her words sounded like she cared, but in reality, she was implying that Wen Yiran had another man.

Su Wan was smart. The fact that Fu Xichen locked Wen Yiran in a mental hospital but didn't completely destroy her meant he still had feelings for her. And now, seeing her dressed as a servant in Fu Xichen's house, Su Wan was sure that he couldn't be truly ruthless to her. She had to destroy any sympathy he had left for Wen Yiran.

Fu Xichen's expression turned cold.

No wonder Wen Yiran had changed so much. Su Wan's words reminded him that maybe… she had fallen in love with someone else.

He felt inexplicably annoyed.

"Miss Su, as a servant, I don't need your concern!" Wen Yiran said coldly.

Hearing this, Su Wan pretended to be sad and hid behind Fu Xichen, looking pitiful. "Wen Yiran, Su Wan was only worried about you, but you're still as cruel as before!"

Wen Yiran frowned. She didn't want to argue anymore and turned to leave.

But Fu Xichen was already completely provoked by her attitude. He immediately stood up and walked toward her in big strides. His dark eyes flashed with a dangerous light, like a beast about to attack.

Before Wen Yiran could react, his hand was already wrapped around her neck.

Pain shot through her body. Once again, he wanted to kill her… for this woman.

Wen Yiran's eyes turned red. She stared at him with the look of someone who had accepted death. The painful memories from four years ago rushed back, and her breathing became rapid.

"Bad Daddy! You're bullying Mommy again!"

Little Bao was so scared that he dropped his cake. He ran forward, his little fists pounding against Fu Xichen's leg, his face covered in cream and tears.

Fu Xichen frowned and glared at him. "Get lost!"

Little Bao refused to back down. He opened his mouth and bit down on Fu Xichen's thigh!

Fu Xichen instinctively kicked, sending Little Bao flying.

"Little Bao!"

Wen Yiran's heart ached. She hated herself for not protecting him.

Little Bao struggled to get up. He bit his lip and clenched his little fists, shouting, "Let go of Mommy!"

Su Wan, who had been enjoying the show from the sofa, finally stood up. She walked over to Little Bao with a helpless expression. "Little Bao, are you okay? Honey, let go of Yiran," she said softly.

But as she spoke, she secretly lifted her foot, revealing the sharp edge of her high heel. If she stepped on him, Little Bao would be in terrible pain.

"No!" Wen Yiran's voice was hoarse, and she gasped for air. Her tears fell on Fu Xichen's hand, but he couldn't see what was happening behind him.

She felt something pressing on her chest, making it impossible to breathe. Her vision darkened, and she fainted in Fu Xichen's arms.

Little Bao stood stubbornly, staring at Su Wan, ready to fight.

Then, out of nowhere, Su Wan was knocked hard from the side and fell to the ground.

Fu Anxuan looked at her coldly. "Oops, I accidentally bumped into you."

Su Wan's face twisted in anger.

This little brat! He never listened to her, and now he was even talking back to her!

Little Bao, seeing that his brother had stepped in to protect him, immediately ran into his arms and pointed at Su Wan. "Brother, I knew you hated this old lady too! She's just like that bad daddy—a big villain!"

Su Wan's face turned purple with rage, but with Fu Xichen there, she didn't dare say anything.

"Enough!"

Fu Xichen's voice was low and cold.

A servant quickly helped Su Wan up.

Su Wan swallowed her anger and clenched her fists.

Fu Xichen might not show much affection, but he definitely wouldn't let anyone bully his child. Fu Anxuan was proof of that.

For the past four years, she had played the role of a "good mother," especially in front of Fu Xichen. But no matter what, it never worked. Fu Anxuan was too smart and never believed her act.

At that moment, Little Bao noticed that Wen Yiran had fainted in Fu Xichen's arms.

His face turned pale.

He knew that Mommy was weak and often sick. Seeing her unconscious made him even more scared.

Since the first time he met Fu Xichen, he had seen how cruel and heartless he was. Everyone thought he would cry and yell at him again.

But this time, he didn't.

Instead, he chose to beg.

"Even though I hate you, only you can call a doctor to save Mommy! Please, hurry up and help her!"

Little Bao bit his lip, trying to stay strong, but his hands nervously fidgeted.

Fu Xichen didn't respond.

He looked at Little Bao, whose knees were scraped and bleeding. He had thought this child was just a brat, but now, he suddenly seemed mature and sensible.

Was this really the same kid?

Little Bao saw his silence and panicked. He quickly wiped away his tears and looked up at Fu Xichen.

"I know you're mad at me for biting you, so you don't want to help. I'll bite myself instead! But please, save Mommy!"

With that, he opened his mouth and bit down hard on his own arm.

Fu Xichen's heart clenched.

He immediately gave the order. "Butler, call the doctor. Now. No one is allowed to disturb us."

Little Bao's eyes lit up, and he quickly let go of his arm. Ignoring the pain, he grabbed Fu Xichen's leg and said, "Thank you! I'll wait patiently for you to save Mommy!"

Fu Xichen glanced at him coldly. "If you don't let go, no one will save her."

Little Bao quickly released him and bowed his head.

Fu Xichen didn't say anything else and carried Wen Yiran upstairs.

That "thank you" felt so distant.

Perhaps… that was the saddest thing about being a father.

In the quiet house, Little Bao's soft cries echoed.

"It hurts so much!"
