Moana sprang up just as I sank into my seat.
"Drinks! We need drinks. Non-alcoholic, obviously. Noah and I will grab them. Let's go, Noah!"
"Moana, wait—" He barely got the words out before she grabbed his hand and dragged him toward the food counter, her enthusiasm leaving no room for argument.
We all sat in awkward silence, the tension hanging in the air.
Amber cleared her throat. "Well, that was… something."
Shari nodded thoughtfully. "I agree. Noah is really cute."
"That wasn't what—"
"Look," Aiden cut in, his voice sharp. "Are we starting this project or not?"
I finally allowed myself to look at Aiden, only to find him already staring at me. I couldn't quite read his expression, but everything about his posture radiated irritation and impatience.
He held my gaze for a moment longer before shaking his head and looking away. Switching off his phone, he let out a quiet sigh.
