The rain came down in a soft drizzle over New York City, the streets reflecting the neon glow of the billboards and traffic lights. The city was alive with movement—cars honking, people rushing to their destinations, and the faint hum of a thousand conversations blending into an indistinct melody. But beneath the surface of this ordinary night, unseen forces were weaving a web of deception, pulling the strings that would soon unravel everything.
Tobey Maguire's Peter – An Unsettling Feeling
Tobey sat alone in his apartment, a steaming cup of coffee in his hands as he gazed out the rain-streaked window. His mind was heavy with thought. It had been years since he had faced his greatest enemies—Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Sandman. But now, something far worse was lurking in the shadows. Doflamingo wasn't just a villain. He was a mastermind, a puppet master who manipulated others without them even realizing it.
For days, Tobey had been following the plan, pretending to be alone, isolated, vulnerable. But the longer he played the part, the more real it started to feel. The distance between him and the other Spider-Men, the weight of responsibility pressing down on him—it all felt too familiar.
He took a slow sip of his coffee, his eyes narrowing as he noticed something on the street below. A black car parked across from his apartment. It had been there for hours. Maybe longer.
Tobey's instincts screamed at him. He knew surveillance when he saw it. But who was watching him? The police? No. It had to be Doflamingo's people. But why? If Doflamingo believed they were scattered, then he shouldn't be watching him this closely.
Something wasn't adding up.
With a deep breath, Tobey made a decision. He was going to find out who was watching him. He set down his coffee, slipped on his mask, and climbed out the window. The rain soaked into his suit as he swung toward the car, landing silently on a nearby rooftop. He crouched low, observing. The car was tinted, but through the faint glow of a streetlamp, he could make out two figures inside.
Then, without warning, the driver turned and locked eyes with him.
Tobey tensed.
The man inside smirked and rolled down the window just enough for the cold night air to slip in. A deep, familiar voice drifted up to him.
"Still watching over the city, are you, Spider-Man?"
Tobey's heart nearly stopped.
Norman Osborn.
Andrew Garfield's Peter – Shadows in the Alley
Across the multiverse, in a version of New York that carried its own scars, Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man swung between buildings, scanning the city below. He wasn't patrolling tonight. He was searching.
Something had been off in his world. Small things. A robbery where the criminals vanished before the police arrived. A gang war that suddenly ended without explanation. People whispering about a figure in pink sunglasses, making deals in the shadows.
Andrew knew that meant only one thing—Doflamingo's reach had already stretched into his world.
As he landed on a rooftop, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He hesitated before answering.
"Peter?"
The voice on the other end was warm. Familiar.
It was Gwen.
Andrew's chest tightened. He closed his eyes, his grip on the phone tightening. He had lost Gwen once. He had sworn he wouldn't let it happen again.
"I'm here," he said, forcing himself to sound normal.
"I— I just wanted to check in. You've been distant lately," Gwen said hesitantly. "I know things have been… complicated, but you don't have to go through it alone."
Andrew exhaled slowly. How could he explain everything? That a man from another world was manipulating villains across realities? That he was pretending to be alone to bait a criminal mastermind into making a mistake?
"I'm just dealing with some things," he said instead. "Nothing you need to worry about."
There was a pause. Then Gwen spoke, softer this time.
"Peter… you always say that."
He didn't have an answer.
Suddenly, his Spider-Sense flared. A sharp, electric pulse ran down his spine.
"Gwen, I have to go," he said quickly.
"Peter—"
He hung up.
Spinning around, he spotted movement in the alley below. A dark figure, stepping out of the shadows. The glow of mechanical tentacles slithered out from behind the figure's back, reflecting in the rain.
Andrew's breath caught in his throat.
Doctor Octopus.
Tom Holland's Peter – The Game Begins
In yet another version of New York, Tom Holland's Spider-Man sat in a small café, stirring a cup of hot chocolate absentmindedly.
This was the hardest part of the plan. Pretending that everything was fine. Pretending that he wasn't aware of the storm about to break.
MJ sat across from him, scrolling through her phone, a slight frown on her face. "You're weird today," she muttered, not looking up.
Peter forced a smile. "Weird? No, I'm totally normal. Super normal. The most normal person ever."
MJ finally looked up, raising an eyebrow. "Right. That's exactly what a totally normal person would say."
Peter groaned. "Okay, maybe I'm a little distracted."
MJ studied him for a moment before shrugging. "Well, whatever it is, just remember—if you need help, you don't have to do everything alone."
Peter's stomach twisted. If only she knew.
He was about to respond when the café door opened, and a rush of cold air swept in. A tall man in a dark coat walked inside, removing his sunglasses.
Peter's blood ran cold.
Adrian Toomes. The Vulture.
And he was looking right at him.
Doflamingo's Checkmate
From his hidden lair, Doflamingo chuckled. His fingers lazily twisted an invisible string as he watched the events unfold across three different worlds.
The Spider-Men thought they were in control. That they were manipulating him.
They couldn't have been more wrong.
"Now the real fun begins," he murmured, his lips curling into a wicked grin.
With a flick of his fingers, the strings tightened.
