Chapter 25 : All will know I tried

As fate would allow it, I would meet him in my classroom.

When I walked in, all I saw was a senior, hand on sword hilt threatening young students. Or as the Academium Archive would put it, 'abuse of power designated for student protection'.

If I had know he was Bares, the YCB president, I probably would not have said what I said next, my calculative nature wouldn't allow it.

"Who are you? State your reason of presence immediately. According the AA I am permitted and advised to protect my environment against hinderance of freedom and open tyranny."

I could see Kyle holding in his laughter, Kainan darting under the desk as he struggled to do the same.

"What did you say to me?" the senior said as he approached me.

You could tell he was a senior, the medals of honor on his dark and shiny coat, and his personal sword strapped to his waist, along with the academy's correctional baton. I wished I had seen all those a few seconds ago. I was in too deep, so its better I go down with some dignity. I raised my tone.

"According to the AA--"

I was cut off by the the sound of his drawn blade. He quickly returned to the conversation.

"According to the AA and the YCB guidelines I am prohibited from open showcase of any weapon, but as a prioritized member I am obliged to use any non-lethal means possible to ensure a peaceful and stable learning facility, where it can be applied. You have qualified for a "lethal' use of force to stabilize the situation, under the same regulation."

I was not having that.

"According to the AA, a senior barging in on freshmen, during school hours would be recognized as a second degree act of infringement, and a count of promotion of lawlessness."

He shot back again.

"According to that same page, a privileged member of the school is allowed to impose on the rights of cadets to prevent further disruptions of their academic pursuit. You have ignored two invitations before the counsel, therefore the Archive recognizes you a hinderance to safe and properly guided education. Would you rather do this all week, or will you follow me quietly?"

I looked around the class, taking into account the amount of people who actually dont want to see this go down, who actually came here for proper education and martial arts training. Or maybe I wanted to sound 'cool'.

"Lets take this outside" I said, as I walked out, the plainest expression ever. It was to hide the excitement, I had always wanted to say that.

As I walked out the door, I could see Kyle laughing hysterically. My abnormality had been commonplace, something to scoff att. Personally, I cant blame him, at all.

"Follow me." he said as he almost disappeared, using movement arts.

Bares did not need to watch where he was going, everyone simply moved out of the way. After all, no one desired to have an altercation with the Bares of the Eze clan's first family and I of course, who was referred to as 'black dragon', for a very obvious reason.

"What is your name?" he said as we dashed through the halls.

"I am Muna. What is your name?" I replied.

"Dont joke around kid, this is serious business. You're in a lot of trouble."

After what seemed like hours, he stopped his endless swirling through the hallways.

We stood before two huge steel doors, which where engraved with thorns. Not sure what that meant.

Bares pushed open the doors to reveal a large room, scented with lovely fragrances that mingled in the air—notes of fresh lavender, sweet vanilla, and a hint of citrus. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it feel as though he had stepped into a sanctuary of comfort.

In the center of the room stood a massive wooden table, polished to a shine that reflected the soft glow of the overhead chandeliers. The table was adorned with an elegant centerpiece of blooming flowers, their vibrant colors adding life to the space. Surrounding the table were seven chairs, each uniquely crafted, but one drew immediate attention. It resembled a throne, taller and more ornate than the others, with intricate carvings that depicted swirling vines and mythical creatures. Plush cushions in deep royal purple adorned its seat and backrest, inviting anyone to take their place of honor.

As he stepped further inside, the comforting sound of solemn silence filled the air, hinting at gatherings past. The walls were lined with bookshelves, crammed with tomes of every kind, their spines glowing in the warm light. Artworks hung on the walls, each telling a story of its own, adding to the room's enchanting charm.

I felt a sense of anticipation wash over me, as if this room held secrets waiting to be uncovered. This was no ordinary space; it was a gathering place for official business, but yet, it somehow held some importance. It was a wonder, and perhaps the beginning of an adventure he had yet to imagine.

"Welcome to my humble abode. Sit." bares said as he sat on the heavily decorated chair.

I sat on the farthest chair from him, still looking around the room. I had not seen or felt this kind of attachment toward anything, nor was I attracted to anything, apart from maybe Venus.

"See this room? This is the meeting place of the YCB. I am Bares, the president of YCB. We have sent two invitations to you regarding your misconduct in the academy, both of which you have failed to acknowledge. Due to your negligence the YCB is forced to present you before the council of elders for a trial. I am here to formally represent the YCB, to inform you of your hearing tomorrow morning. Now that is done, you can leave. Get lost."

"That's it? If that's it then I'll be taking my leave. You stopped me for this?" I got up violently, with a great display of arrogance.

What would look like a wild lashout was actually my way of testing the waters. Will he respond in kind? Will he calm the situation down? Will he stay silent? Anyway he replied my attitude would give me sufficient information about his character. Every piece of information is crucial.

As I made my way out he said nothing, so to extract a response from him, I hissed.

"Hey, kid. Let me give you a piece of advice, local advice. The mother hen cries to her chick to not leave the nest, not so that chick doesn't leave the nest, no. Its so that when the hawk catches the chick, everyone will know that the mother hen tried her best. I've been patient enough to usher you in the situation, from going to your class, all the way to bringing you here. I have been the one protecting you. But if you fall prey to the people who really wish to see you suffer, even the grass will know that I tried. G
