"Thankfully, it's nothing serious." Theodore commented, placing his hands in his pockets as he smiled down at her. "From the look of things though, it seems you might have been skipping a lot of meals."
Wasn't this just for the bruise she got? Why were they going overboard to do all this? She wanted to ask but looking at Darian who still had his cold face on, she just wanted to round up here and get to work.
"I'll have the nurses give you some pain killers because the wounds might hurt later and some others you have seem infected. But you're good." Theodore assured her before turning back to look at Darian who was looking intently at them. "She's done. The nurse will hand her everything she needs when you're leaving."
Darian nodded before finally leaning away from the wall. Samantha used this opportunity to stand up, walking over to him like an obedient puppy. He didn't say anything and just turned to leave. Samantha quickly bowed to Theodore before walking out behind Darian.
"Now what would make the great Darian Zephyr take interest in a girl." A woman materialized beside him out of thin air. She was also dressed in the same laboratory coat she had on.
"Oh come on. Darian has a heart too." Theodore chuckled, removing the stethoscope around his neck. "It just ceased functioning."
"Do you think I should report that?" the woman asked him and this question made Theodore pause. He seemed to be thinking before looking up at her with a smile. A smile obvious enough to guess it was deadly.
"You stay out of this, Katarina."
Samantha followed behind Darian while looking down at the pack of drugs she had been given. They were expensive looking ones. Who was this man? And why was he even going this far to help her?
"Uhmm… where are we going?" She finally asked, seeing they haven't left the building since they got out of the elevator.
"To get you something to eat." he replied calmly.
"I appreciate that but I have to get to work soon and I don't want to be late for my shift…"
"You won't be late." he cut her off, making her out slightly.
"But I don't even know you and you don't know me, why would you go through all this for someone you barely know?" She asked and he finally stopped in his tracks. She thought it was because of what she said but she realized they were in front of the hospital's restaurant.
They walked in and those serving bowed to him as they saw him step in. He casually took a seat and she stared right at him as if waiting for him to say something.
"I am Darian." He finally said.
"Why are you helping me?" she asked, her lips pursed.
He folded his arms across his chest as he looked back into her eyes. She held his gaze, staring curiously at his gray eyes. A sudden glint of red passed across it but she didn't react.
"I owe you this since you got hurt because of my car." He replied calmly.
It would have made sense if he just took her to a clinic but this was a freaking seven stars hospital. As if he knew what was going through her mind, he continued. "I only came to a place where I have someone I trust. Not because I want you to feel bad."
Before she could reply, a waiter brought her the menu. She looked up at him as if wanting to ask why he wasn't eating but she just kept quiet and placed her order. The couldn't see their prices but she could tell from the pictures that they were expensive.
They both sat in silence as she ate and once she was done, he stood up and she did the same, following after him. The driver was waiting in the car and the drive to Hell's Den was quiet. She felt weird because he didn't report her to her boss the accident that occurred the previous night.
She wanted to ask him about it but the car suddenly pulled up. She looked around to see they were no longer moving because they've arrived.
"Thank you very much." She said with a small smile before the door slid open. She was about to step out when she turned back to look at him. "I apologize for yesterday and thank you for not reporting to the boss. I'm Samantha by the way."
She gave him a small smile before stepping out of the car, she bowed gently as the door slid close. Her scent lingered in the car, gradually growing dull as his sense of smell became numb again.
"Where to, your highness?" the driver asked him, his gaze still fixed on Samantha who had disappeared into the building.
"Tell Lior to cancel my schedule for the day."
