There wasn't much to say about Carol beating up the Kree.
A Level 7 power against a Level 5 — if she couldn't win, Noah would think her power was really wasted.
Even if Carol wasn't fully in control of her strength, brute force alone should easily overwhelm them, right?
Of course, none of this was Noah's main focus. He was most fascinated by Carol's current flying ability.
Noah didn't know when he would be able to fly. He still couldn't master the flying spell.
Instead, he used a magic combination of floating and acceleration spells, which nearly killed him and made him afraid to try again.
Fury, Coulson, and Maria Rambeau were much calmer than Noah expected.
But on second thought, that was only natural.
They had seen bigger scenes; Noah had just been goofing around. If they were still unsettled now, that would be strange.
"She doesn't seem to have full control over her power," Master Ancient One suddenly shook her head.
"Well, it's clear she's terrifying, but her fighting skills..." Noah responded in time.
"I think it's better we don't discuss her. Let's talk about you and your wand, how about that?" Master Ancient One narrowed her eyes and smiled at Noah.
"Well, I'll try not to use it in the future," Noah said, feeling cold sweat break out.
Truth be told, Noah didn't like this wand that looked like chopsticks, but after using it a while, he found it comfortable.
Not to mention, this wand alone amplified his magic—especially his own magical power—which increased significantly.
This was probably the best example of the legendary saying: "The wand chooses the wizard."
When Noah used this wand, his magic power surged.
Although Noah wasn't much into gear, he thought, why not use equipment if it helps?
Look at Mordo: besides his exclusive weapons, he had a pair of shoes. Even Doctor Strange would have an exclusive cape someday?
Thinking of the cape, Noah suddenly wondered if he should intercept it in advance—after all, it seemed to allow flight?
"It's not that I don't want you to use these things," the Ancient One explained, "but I think your current age is better suited for building a solid foundation, rather than rushing into foreign artifacts."
"Uh, I understand. I don't use it in normal training, just tried it this time, I swear." Noah swallowed and nodded quickly to show he understood.
While Noah and the Ancient One were talking, Captain Marvel had basically finished the battle.
She hadn't killed Ronan—more precisely, her power wasn't extraordinary enough. She could only repel him, not defeat him.
After realizing the energy core was taken, Ronan drove the spaceship directly to the ground in pursuit, though confused how they escaped.
He had instruments to track them and had contacted Ronan for backup.
"Seems nothing's changed," Noah sighed, watching the alien ship on the screen.
Suddenly, Noah understood why the Ancient One told him to restrain his habit of using the wand.
In plain terms: she hoped Noah could better control his power.
Although Noah and Carol weren't the same, her battle showed what could happen without control.
Carol was terribly strong—but her power control was poor.
Unleashing full strength was fine, but otherwise, her power use was rough.
If Noah couldn't control his own magic, things could be worse than Carol's case.
Noah was a magician; Carol was a warrior.
Plus, Noah lacked the "innate conditions" some others had. He could only progress step by step.
"Teacher, these aliens..." Noah stopped his thoughts and looked at Master Ancient One.
Actually, it wasn't just Noah. Fury and the others were anxious.
Especially since the aliens seemed ready to fire on Earth, their nerves were shot.
They still remembered Noah said magicians protect Earth.
Now Earth was in crisis—what were they doing?
Inviting them to watch a movie?
No popcorn, no fried chicken, no beer, no giant screen—no fun at all!
Though the effects were impressive, those missiles looked aimed right at them.
"If nothing goes wrong, the little girl will handle it," Master Ancient One smiled calmly.
"Well, it seems so," Noah rubbed his head, unsure what to say.
"You want to ask: as magicians protecting Earth, why let this happen?
You have your reasons—I think I can understand."
"Forget it. Treat this as a lesson. Look at Noah and Wang—that's the path you'll take in the future. I hope you both reach this level."
Before Noah could reply, Master Ancient One raised her hand.
A halo identical to Noah's appeared on her palm—only brighter, with clearer runes spinning around it.
"It's time to teach them a lesson. Do they think Odin and I are dead?"
Master Ancient One muttered, then her magic power surged wildly.
Simultaneously, the image of the universe displayed on the light curtain shifted.
Missiles flying toward Earth cracked along their trajectories—and then vanished!
After this, the Ancient One raised her hand, and the space shattered again.
Missiles shot out of the ruptured space, crashing into aircraft carriers!
Instantly, fireworks exploded in space as many carriers were destroyed by their own missiles!
"What's going on?"
On the Kree command ship, Ronan's assistant stared in disbelief.
He hadn't expected their missiles to be turned back.
Frankly, the C35 system had no known defense against their missiles. What was happening?
"Deploy drones! Damn, I think we're in trouble."
Ronan stayed calm. This was a private action.
They'd managed to bypass Asgard thanks to Thor causing chaos, leaving Asgard's outer defenses empty. Otherwise, they wouldn't have gotten this far.
But besides Asgard, Earth had Kamar-Taj.
Ronan guessed at first but wasn't sure who the defender was.
The next scene confirmed it: a huge, terrifying golden halo surrounded their fleet.
The halo burst with brilliant power—almost all carriers covered by it were sliced in half instantly!
Faced with such destruction, Ronan knew who was behind this!
"Quick! Return to the jump point, now!"
Ronan couldn't maintain capacity against such a foe.
His assistant understood and ordered all surviving carriers to retreat. He led the jump point activation himself.
When Carol flew into space, only space debris remained—burning, rotating with Earth's orbit.
The rest?
The slowly fading golden halo, the Kree fleet, all vanished without a trace.
"Understand, Noah, Wang?" Master Ancient One waved her hand; the light curtain vanished.
She smiled at Noah and Wang.
"Yes, I understand, but I can't do it," Noah smiled bitterly. Wang felt the same.
Not only did they understand, but Noah also sensed a dark power within the Ancient One's magic!
Of course, it might be his imagination—maybe knowing some components of the Ancient One's power caused the feeling.
Noah squatted and picked up the kitten scratching his trousers, rubbing its head.
Fury's eyes gleamed, but the Ancient One's mouth twitched for unknown reasons.
"Noah, do you know what this is?"
"Yes, the Devourer."
"Well, since you know, be careful."
"It's very good."
It was her again?
The Ancient One looked surprised. The snake had seemed to be her before.
Noah's disciple seemed especially loved by animals, especially female ones?
Noah didn't know what the Ancient One was thinking.
Instead, he wondered if he should try transformation magic—turn this kitten into a human, but keep ears and tail?
Well, maybe better to try a rabbit instead?
Noah thought his transformation magic was mediocre, but he had to try, right?
Otherwise, he'd be letting Professor McGonagall down.
"Okay, I think our business here is done. Let's go back."
The Ancient One looked at the Devourer happily resting in Noah's arms and shook her head helplessly.
"Well, okay, teacher. By the way, what about these people here?"
Noah nodded but soon remembered Fury and Coulson from SHIELD, and Maria Rambeau, the former Air Force.
"We generally don't erase their memories—just let them be mute. The Skrulls, leave to that lady."
The Ancient One spoke casually, then added:
"By the way, give the Rubik's Cube in your Mirror Space to Mr. Fury. Just temporarily deposit it with him."
Noah didn't argue, just shrugged to show he understood.
The Ancient One probably knew what the Cosmic Cube was and didn't want it brought into Kamar-Taj. Noah agreed.
The key word—temporary deposit.
"Let me hold it! God, you're so cute! I don't want you to leave."
Fury took this chance to pick up the cat again, happily petting it.
Noah opened Mirror Space, hands free.
Unfortunately, just as Fury was enjoying petting, the cat seemed to have had enough.
Suddenly it jumped and clawed Fury's eyes.
Noah's hand nearly trembled.
The Ancient One swallowed, mouth twitching.
The Skrulls were stunned.
"Oh, shit! Why did you scratch me?"
