"Wow, is this a dragon?"
As Charles entered the laboratory, a strong smell of blood hit him, but when he saw the source, his expression immediately changed.
A dragon—yes, it was really a dragon!
The creature before him was pitch black, and even though it was dead, the dangerous aura still lingered. It was clear that the dragon was no ordinary beast.
"Yes, this is a Hungarian Horntail, one of the most dangerous species of dragon in the world," Noah nodded. "This one is an adult, about 91 feet long and weighs roughly 28 tons, nearly equivalent to seven or eight African elephants."
Charles nodded. He knew that while the dragon was incredibly heavy, it wouldn't be a problem for magicians.
If magic can solve something, it's not a problem. It was like the saying in the mundane world: "If money can solve it, then it's not a problem."
"To be honest, I've read some information about dragons in books," Charles said, looking at the dragon. "The books describe them as bloodthirsty, greedy, extremely cunning, and highly resistant to magic. I don't understand why they would be kept as pets."
"Are you reading 'Lockhart and the Dragons He Met'?" Noah asked curiously, scratching his head.
"No, it's a book full of history. By the way, who is Lockhart?" Charles asked, intrigued.
"A liar, don't worry about him. He should be in Azkaban by now. Hmm, a history-based book... it must be Kemien Sweet's Report on Dragon Research, right?"
"Yes, that's the one!"
"No offense, but a lot of what's in that book is speculative. Dragons are indeed greedy and bloodthirsty and have a high resistance to magic, but they are not particularly cunning. Mr. Sweet's book blends myths and legends with actual dragons. Today's dragons are much less intelligent. You could say they have degenerated or were misled by legends."
"Is that so?"
Charles fell silent, while Noah didn't dwell on it.
The dragons in this world were indeed as Noah described, but he found the idea of their degeneration being an alien intervention more plausible.
No one knew how the first dragon came to be, or how long dragons had existed. So it was difficult to say that dragons were not extraterrestrial beings who left their offspring behind on Earth, with those left behind slowly degenerating into what they were now.
The world was indeed very complex. Why were high-dimensional and low-dimensional universes intertwined? Why did various civilizations and life forms from other galaxies exist?
If dragons were truly extraterrestrial, everything would make sense.
Otherwise, how did Noah's system possess such detailed information on dragons?
As his research progressed, Noah increasingly felt that it was unlikely that the York Magic Association had developed such a perfect theory on dragon evolution (or degeneration).
Despite the system being powerful, it wasn't capable of creating something from nothing.
"Well, whether it's a story made up by others or a case of degeneration, it doesn't matter much to me," Charles said, regaining his composure. "I have to admit, this dragon is a work of art. Every part of its body is a weapon. It's hard to imagine how it evolved."
"If you like it, I can get one for you. But I recommend getting a smaller one or a dead one. Otherwise, it'll be very troublesome."
Noah smiled. If Charles liked it, Noah would let him have one to play with.
"Forget it. The Ministry of Magic doesn't allow dragons to be kept in cities, even if I live in the suburbs," Charles said with a glint in his eye. But after a moment's thought, he shook his head. "When we finish our research, you can give it to me."
"No problem." Noah nodded in agreement.
This was easy for him. If Charles wanted a dragon skeleton, that wasn't a problem. After all, Noah had dealt with several dragon corpses before.
In order to keep them fresh and active, Noah couldn't just study the ones he had; he had to continuously acquire more.
He quickly grabbed his previous experimental report and handed it over to Charles, who took it with a smile. However, instead of opening it, Charles placed the report on his lap and looked up at Noah, grinning.
"What's wrong?" Noah asked, feeling a little uneasy under Charles's gaze.
"Speaking of which, your movie is about to be released. Don't you plan to go and see it?" Charles asked, a smile playing at the corner of his mouth.
"Uh? It's about to be released?" Noah scratched his nose, genuinely surprised.
"Yes, it's been in preparation for almost two years. How could it not be released?" Charles was puzzled. "You didn't forget, did you?"
Noah rubbed his nose, realizing that he really had forgotten.
He and Charles, along with Dumbledore, had discussed the movie over a year ago. Since then, Noah had turned into a bit of a recluse, only leaving the lab when necessary. He'd been jumping between Kamar-Taj and his lab every day, with little regard for time.
Since merging with Captain Marvel's blood nine years ago, Noah's physical growth had slowed dramatically, to the point where it was barely noticeable.
Especially in recent years, Noah's appearance had hardly changed at all.
Between his rigorous research and his slow physical changes, Noah had lost his sense of time.
There was also the matter of Ms. Hefen.
A few years ago, Ms. Hefen used magic to stop her aging process, and she even looked younger now. Shaping one's appearance with magic wasn't difficult—it was all a matter of personal will.
For instance, Professor McGonagall didn't indulge in such things, and she embraced her natural age.
Of course, no one cared if someone used magic to change their appearance; it was a personal matter.
"Well, it seems like you really did forget. You should get out more. It's not good to stay in the lab all the time," Charles teased, clearly knowing what had happened.
"Don't worry, this is just for now. I'll definitely recruit more people for magic research soon. After all, doing research alone has made me a bit depressed. I don't want to keep doing it all by myself," Noah said with a shrug.
Indeed, Noah realized that research work was not his true calling. He preferred quietly reading a book with a cup of coffee, chatting with his friends or Ms. Hefen, or taking Wong out to hunt magical creatures.
As for the movie that Noah and Charles had worked on, it was basically a retelling of Noah's time at Hogwarts.
Initially, Noah had wanted to create an original world—"What if he hadn't been favored by the Ancient One?" or "What if there was no Noah Finniel in this world?" But Dumbledore had rejected this idea, as had Charles and the Hogwarts professors.
After much discussion, Dumbledore and the others decided to make a movie about Noah at Hogwarts.
There were only three films in total, each telling the story of Noah's time at Hogwarts over three years. Although they weren't up to Noah's original expectations, at least it would be shown on the big screen for a few years.
Noah had even joked that if the movies didn't do well, they could always film Newt's story.
Noah had asked Nagini countless times about the third part of Fantastic Beasts, but the lazy snake kept claiming she couldn't remember.
Nagini had been with Noah for many years, yet her presence was always low-key. She rarely changed back to her human form, even when alone with Noah.
In her words, she was still trying to adapt to her snake form, especially after learning magic.
Noah couldn't help but be speechless at how long it had taken for her to integrate. But thinking about it, it made sense—Nagini had been cursed with blood that transformed her into a snake, and this snake state had lasted more than twice as long as her human form.
Adapting to her human form again wasn't easy, especially since Noah's influence had led her to learn magic, which extended the process.
Shaking his head, Noah pushed these thoughts aside and asked, "So, when will it be released?"
"It will be released in about a month," Charles smiled. "It seems like all the young witches and wizards in the British magical world are looking forward to it. To them, you're an idol, and they've all heard about your time at Hogwarts. But seeing it on the big screen is a whole different experience."
"Really? Well, I hope it's not too bad by then. Otherwise, I won't have enough money to continue my research," Noah said with a smile, clearly amused.
It was strange to think of selling his own story for money.
Dumbledore and the others had been very thorough in the production process. They found actors, watched movies from the ordinary world to learn about acting styles, and even filmed portions at Hogwarts, with many young witches and wizards serving as extras. Dumbledore himself had even gone back to help.
It was clear just how excited the young witches and wizards were for this film.
