Raiyo stares at Jin with half-lidded golden eyes, wrapped snugly in his oversized blanket like a burrito, sitting at the breakfast table. His movements are slow, dreamlike, as he pokes at his food with the energy of a person already halfway back to sleep.
Then, his voice—soft, tired, and absolutely determined—breaks the silence.
"Jin."
Jin sighs. "What?"
"Dessert."
"No."
Raiyo blinks once. Then twice. His face remains unreadable as he lets out a small, dramatic sigh before flopping onto the table, still wrapped in his blanket. "You're so cruel."
"You just had breakfast."
"That's not dessert."
Jin pinches the bridge of his nose. "Raiyo, dessert is a treat. You don't just get it whenever you want."
Raiyo shifts, adjusting his blanket cocoon, and mumbles something that sounds suspiciously like, "I don't want to live in this world anymore."
Jin rolls his eyes. "If you want dessert, do fifty push-ups."
Silence.
Raiyo's head lifts ever so slightly, his golden eyes filled with nothing but sheer devastation. His arms, still bundled up, twitch at the mere thought of movement. His sleepy, drowsy presence amplifies as he slowly collapses onto the table again.
"Fifty… push-ups?" he repeats weakly, as if the words themselves have physically injured him.
Jin crosses his arms, already smirking. "Yup. Do them, and I'll get you some cake."
Raiyo lies there, unmoving. For a moment, Jin wonders if he's already fallen asleep.
Then, without warning, Raiyo slides off the chair straight to the floor, making a dramatic thump as he sprawls out in utter despair.
His blanket is still wrapped around him, making him look like a sad, defeated caterpillar.
"I'll die," Raiyo murmurs into the floor.
Jin raises an eyebrow. "From push-ups?"
"From heartbreak."
Jin sighs and walks away, shaking his head. "No push-ups, no cake."
Silence.
Then—
"Wait." Raiyo suddenly lifts his head, eyes glinting with something dangerous.
Jin pauses, wary. "…What?"
"You owe me two cakes."
Jin blinks. "What?"
Raiyo sits up, dramatically slow, stretching as if he just woke from the longest nap in existence. His expression remains sleepy, calm—but his eyes are sharp, calculated.
"You promised me cake two months ago when you lost that bet about the fish jumping out of the pond," Raiyo says smoothly. "And last month, when you said I couldn't sneak past you and I did."
Jin frowns, thinking back. "…That… that doesn't count."
"Fine, I won't count those... but... you said you would get me two cakes, if i went hunting last week."
Raiyo tilts his head slightly, his sleepy golden eyes staring deep into Jin's soul. "A promise is a promise, Jin."
Jin rubs his temples. "So?"
Raiyo's blanket shifts as he sits straighter, regal, a king upon his throne of laziness.
"So," he says, "you now have a debt. A dessert debt."
Jin physically recoils. "You just made that up."
"It's binding." Raiyo nods solemnly. "You know how much I hate injustice, Jin."
Jin stares at him, expression blank. "You skipped training yesterday."
"I had to experience the world."
"You ran away to sleep in a tree."
"Exactly. A life-changing journey."
Jin groans, dragging his hands down his face. "Fine. You get one cake."
"Two."
"One."
"Two."
"One, and you do twenty-five push-ups"
Raiyo stares, considering. Then, without a word, he slouches dramatically to the side, falling onto the floor again in utter devastation. His blanket flutters slightly, like a fallen warrior's cape.
"I hate this world," he whispers.
Jin watches him for a long moment before finally caving with a deep sigh. "Fine. Two cakes. But you owe me a favor."
Instantly, Raiyo sits up, blanket still wrapped tightly around him. He nods once, serious. "Deal."
Jin narrows his eyes. "You don't even know what the favor is."
"Doesn't matter." Raiyo yawns. "As long as I get my cakes."
Jin shakes his head in disbelief, already regretting this. "You're impossible."
"I'm an opportunist."
With that, Raiyo slowly scoots toward the door—still sitting down—dragging his blanket with him in slow, lazy movements.
Jin watches. "…What are you doing?"
"Going outside."
"Why?"
"for my cake."
"You know it takes time, right?"
Raiyo stops mid-scoot. Slowly, he turns to look at Jin, expression unreadable, as if this was the first time he'd ever considered such a horrifying reality.
"…I have to wait?"
Jin sighs. "Yes."
Raiyo collapses onto the floor again.
Jin leaves before he can be further manipulated, but not before muttering, "I swear, this kid is going to be the death of me."
Raiyo's voice, muffled by his blanket, floats after him.
"I accept that fate… as long as I get cake."
