As the captain tells the four this, it goes silent.
"There are as many hunter applicants as there are stars in the sky. Do you think there are enough examiners to evaluate them? Impossible." He narrows his eyes.
"That is why there are people like me who not only take applicants but also examine them. The other passengers are out, and that has been reported to the committee. If any of them manage to reach the exam site by other means, they will be rejected."
"Determining if you are qualified is also part of my job; keep that in mind. So quit while you can, or just answer my questions."
The captain, Kurapika, Gon, and Leorio begin to hear a light snoring noise.
They turn their head to the right to see Raiyo standing completely straight with his head down.
"Wha?! Are you sleeping?!" Leorio exclaims as he shakes Raiyo.
"No, I'm up, I'm up..." Raiyo groans as his head shakes up and down.
"How do you even fall asleep that quick and stand up?!"
Raiyo ignores his yelling as he grabs his forearms to make him stop shaking him.
Kurapika interrupts the two. "I am... The last survivor of the Kurta Clan."
He says, surprising the captain.
"Four years ago, my clan was massacred by a group of bandits. So I want to become a hunter to capture the group that call themselves the Phantom Troupe."
"So you want to become a blacklist hunter?" Raiyo asks, making him nod.
Gon tilts his head. "Who's the Phantom Troupe?"
"The Phantom Troupe classifies as a class a reward; even the most experienced hunters are reluctant to go after them. Those few who have tried, have died." Captain says as he drinks from an alcohol bottle.
"I'm not afraid of death. The only thing I fear is that my anger will disappear one day."
Raiyo notices Kurapika's voice change as he says that, thinking he's really serious about it.
"So you're looking for revenge? You don't have to be a hunter to do that." Leorio says.
"Huh? Don't be dumb, Leorio. The places you cannot go, inaccessible information, and other things you can't do unless you are a hunter... It is enough for your little mind." Kurapika closes his eyes.
Leorio lets out an annoyed growl.
"And you, Leorio?" Captain asks.
"Me? I'm not happy with telling you everything, so I'll get to the point. I want money! A lot of money can buy anything! A great house!! Great cars!! The best alcohol!"
"Yet you lack manners," Kurapika notes.
Raiyo laughs, grasping his stomach.
"That's the third time. Step outside, Kurapika. I'll make sure to eliminate the last Kurta." Leorio glares.
"Take back what you just said." Kurapika gets seriouss.
"It's Mr. Leorio."
The two begin to walk out of the room, heading outside.
"Hey, get back here. I wasn't finished. You can't just withdraw from the exam?!" The captain yells out to the two.
"Let them go." Raiyo hears Gon say as he sits down.
"Huh?"
"If you want to know a person, find out what makes them angry; that was what Aunt Mito taught me. If something is bothering the two of them... it's better to let them fight."
Raiyo nods as he begins walking back to his canopy. " I agree, you guys do that while i just..." He says as he is trying to climb onto the soft bed.
"Captain! Wind gusts are too strong!" A worker on the boat comes in.
Gon quickly gets up and grabs Raiyo's leg, which was just about to make it into the canopy.
"What are you doing?" Raiyo looks down at him.
"Let's go out!"
"Huh? No way, I'm going to sleep." Raiyo says as he tries to pull away, but Gon's grip on his leg was really strong.
"Let go!"
"Right, let's go!" Gon, in full force, pulls him out of the canopy, smiling.
"Wait! That's not what I meant!" Raiyo yells as he gets dragged outside.
__
The three got outside, Raiyo very reluctant gets up watching the scene before him.
Kurapika and Leorio, deathstaring each other down.
"Take back what you said, and I'll forgive you..." Kurapika stares at Leorio.
"You take it back... Kurapika! I will not do it!"
"If one of them falls into the water, it's all over for them.
"I can go help, Captain!" One of the boat workers yells determinedly.
"Go on ahead, boy!"
Just as Captain says this, Kurapika launches at Leorio. Kurapika has long wooden nunchucks, while Leorio has a knife in hand.
Right when they were about to collide, lightning struck a piece of the boat near the sail, causing a huge wooden block to fall, hitting one of the workers.
"Gyahh!!" He voices as he begins to fall, not onto the ground but in the air. He gets launched off the boat.
Raiyo notices, just like the others.
Leorio, Kurapika, and Gon run after the man.
Leorio and Kurapika get there first, however, they're too late. as the hang on a piece of the boat reaching out to get him, he is too far away.
Gon, however, doesn't hang onto anything and just jumps after him.
Kurapika and Leorio grasp his ankles, allowing both the worker and him to be safe.
However, they were still hanging off the boat; they didn't have enough strength.
Raiyo sighs as he walks over, grabbing Leorio and Kurapika. Pulling them, with a bit of strength, surprising the two.
All four of them got pulled in easily because of Raiyo.
"Well done, kid! You saved him!" The workers all congratulated Gon.
"Huh, I'm the one that pulled everyone up..." Raiyo mumbles.
Kurapika and Leorio look at Gon for a second before reprimanding him.
"What were you thinking?! Even a mermaid would have a hard time surviving that swirl! You would have linked in a fraction of a second!" Kurapika yells.
Leorio points. "Damn! If we didn't hold your legs, you would be sleeping with the fishes right now!"
"But... You guys caught me on time." Gon sits down.
"Hmm... I guess we did."
They were just fighting... Raiyo laughs.
When he did make that noise, the three looked at him.
Hm?
"And how did you pull all of us up! How strong are you little arms?!" Leorio yells at him.
"Exactly, what the hell do you take?!" Kurapika exclaims with his eyes wide open.
Raiyo looks at them, confused. Why am I getting yelled at?
"I've trained all my life, so of course I'm strong," Raiyo smirks pridefully as he looks up in the air, flexing his muscles.
Raiyo notices Leorio and Kurapika look at each other for a second.
"My apologies, Leorio... For my lack of respect." Kurapika says.
"Ah, forget it. It was just a mistake. Sorry for what I said about your clan."
The four look at each other.
"Can I go back to sleep now?" Raiyo asks.
"No!" Gon, Leorio, and Kurapika say.
"Heh... hahaha! You four sure are something!" Captain laughs.
"Since I'm in a good mood now, I've decided to take all three of you to the closest port to the exam site!"
"What about the test?" Raiyo asks.
"I'm not in the mood for it." Captain shrugs.
