The Dungeon Revelation

Chapter 25 – The Dungeon Revelation

It started as a quiet morning. The sun rose over Argenia, merchants set up their stalls, nobles prepared for their daily meetings, and students—including Phyro and Klein—headed to class.

Then, the news broke.

"DUNGEONS ARE REAL!"

At first, people scoffed, thinking it was some madman's drunken rambling. But as reports flooded in—adventurers recounting underground labyrinths filled with monsters, merchants claiming strange artifacts from hidden ruins, and terrified survivors barely escaping with their lives—the truth could no longer be denied.

And then? All hell broke loose.

Panic in the Streets

"WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!"

"IS THIS THE END TIMES?!"

"PRAY TO THE GODS! MAYBE THEY CAN CLOSE THEM!"

The city descended into chaos. People ran through the streets screaming, some throwing their belongings out of windows as if that would help. A few particularly ambitious opportunists started selling "holy charms" at ten times their normal price, claiming they could "ward off dungeon monsters."

Guards tried to maintain order, but it was like trying to put out a forest fire with a cup of water. Some even dropped their weapons and ran when they heard about giant ice wolves and undead knights lurking in these dungeons.

One noblewoman fainted dramatically in the middle of the street, only to wake up a moment later and scream, "THE KING HAS LIED TO US!"

Meanwhile, Phyro and Klein watched from a nearby bench, casually eating some roasted meat skewers they bought on the way to class.

Klein took a bite, chewing thoughtfully. "So… when do you think they'll calm down?"

Phyro shrugged. "A week. Maybe two if people keep overreacting like this."

Just then, a group of terrified scholars sprinted past, one of them waving a giant scroll and shouting, "IF DUNGEONS EXIST, WHAT ELSE HAVE WE BEEN LIED TO ABOUT?!" before running headfirst into a fruit stand.

Klein raised an eyebrow. "Yeah… make that three weeks."

At the palace, things weren't any better.

The king sat on his throne, pinching the bridge of his nose as nobles screamed at each other in the grand hall. Some demanded answers, some argued about whether this was a divine punishment, and one particularly dramatic noble was in the corner writing his will.

"Why were we kept in the dark?!" one noble roared.

"If we had known about dungeons, we could have prepared!" another snapped.

The king sighed. He knew this day would come. It wasn't that he wanted to keep dungeons a secret—he just feared what would happen when the public found out. And looking at the absolute mess unfolding in the city…

Yeah. He was right to be afraid.

Lein, standing beside the throne, leaned over to whisper. "Told you this would happen."

The king groaned. "Not helping, Lein."

By the time Phyro and Klein arrived at school, things weren't any calmer.

Professors had abandoned their lessons to debate the significance of dungeons. Some students were packing their bags to go into hiding, while others were excitedly planning to explore these new-found death traps.

Yenta ran up to them, out of breath. "You guys saw the news, right? This is crazy!"

Klein nodded. "Yeah, it's chaos out there."

Phyro just stretched. "Honestly? I kinda expected worse."

Yenta blinked. "Worse?! People are looting shops and crying in the halls!"

Before Phyro could respond, a student slammed open the cafeteria doors, pointing at Phyro like he was some kind of prophet.

"WAIT! YOU'VE BEEN IN A DUNGEON BEFORE, RIGHT?!"

Immediately, all eyes turned to Phyro.

The room fell into complete silence.

"…Uh."

Before he could say anything, a flood of students rushed him with questions.

"HOW DID YOU SURVIVE?!"

"IS IT TRUE THE MONSTERS CAN CURSE YOU?!"

"DO YOU THINK WE'LL ALL DIE?!"

"DO YOU HAVE ANY RELIC WE CAN TOUCH FOR GOOD LUCK?!"

Phyro slowly turned to Klein and Yenta, who were already backing away like they wanted no part in this.

He sighed. This was going to be a long day.

The Aftermath

By nightfall, the city was still a mess, but at least people weren't screaming anymore. Rumors about dungeon rewards started to spread, shifting the public's fear into greedy excitement.

The same people who were crying in the morning were now planning expeditions to plunder dungeons for riches.

Phyro collapsed onto his bed, exhausted. "Man… this might be worse than the panic."

Klein chuckled from the other side of the room. "Yeah, but at least now we won't get chased through the halls."

Phyro rolled onto his side. "Let's hope so."
