ZEKE'S POV

My eyes flicked around the room. It was only now that I noticed the candles, seven of them, and they weren't just any candles. They were silver-infused. Maybe it was because of the way I was positioned that I hadn't caught the scent earlier, but now it was unmistakable, faint, almost invisible to the senses unless you paid painfully close attention.

My gaze snapped back to Roman. I watched him closely, chest heaving, sweat stinging the burns on my skin.

Without a word, he pulled a pair of thick, black leather gloves from the side pocket of his jacket gloves I hadn't even noticed before. He slid them on, flexing his fingers, a smirk tugging at his lips, the leather creaking with the motion.
