Dean Aldridge continued, "I just need fifty dollars. I'll pay you back, dude."
Fifty?!
Donovan inwardly sighed, "When will you pay me back?"
"Next week. Seven days." Dean replied.
Next week? That's on Valentine's Day...
It was currently February 7, 2118. Four days after his transmigration.
Valentine's Day... Come to think of it, I don't have a Valen... tine...
His thoughts suddenly went to Sylvia Swan, and he inwardly shook his head.
That's impossible. I was a virgin as Clark Smith, and as Donovan Volgard, I still am... I don't even know how to ask someone to be my Valentine! I'm terrible when it comes to women!
As Donovan was lost in his thoughts, Dean noticed this and said, "Yo, you good? I said I need fifty dollars. I'll pay you back next week."
Fine... It's just fifty dollars... I still have plenty of money. If he doesn't stay true to his word and fails to pay me back next week, I'll come knocking on his door... I'll teach him not to borrow money from his friends!
Donovan took out a fifty-dollar bill. It still looked the same, featuring a portrait of Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th president of the United States, on the front.
Dean received the bill and smiled, "That's what's up." He reached out his hand to dap up Donovan, and Donovan dapped him up.
Dean walked away, and so did Donovan. While walking, Donovan was thinking, What should I do for the rest of the day? Go to the Training Grounds and practice up on my spells? Go to the library?
Hm... I have a talking, "knowledgeable" Vorlan inside my apartment, and I can just ask it about things I don't know. Guess it's the Training Grounds, then.
Donovan changed direction towards the Training Grounds. He went through the park, glanced at the movies being displayed when he passed by the movie theater, and was nearing the Training Grounds.
As he came closer, Donovan could already hear the sounds of fighting and yelling. It took him 12 minutes of walking to finally arrive at his destination.
I could have just used my umbrella to float and fly, but hey, walking is an exercise. I shouldn't get myself spoiled too much by the technology—... Hah, what am I saying? I let a robot cook for me everyday...
The Training Grounds was located near the edge of Umbrellas. It was an open area, with some dummies at the center. To the right side was a building where Visitors practiced spells, used by Mage-types and Healer-types.
The one at the middle, the open area, was where Visitors sparred, practiced their strikes on the dummies, all to enhance their battle capabilities. Used by Fighters, Tankers, and Assassins.
The building on the left had moving dummies where Visitors trained their aim. Used by Rangers.
Donovan headed towards the building on the right, where spells were practiced. As he entered, he heard all kinds of sounds which he couldn't fully comprehend. The sound of lightning, explosions, howls, screeches, all mixed into one.
He faced a dummy, and held his umbrella tightly.
Let's try Light Spear.
He tapped his umbrella on the floor, and a spear of blinding light appeared floating beside him. Then, in a split second, the spear of light immediately impaled the dummy.
Donovan pressed a button beside him, and the dummy was returned to normal, as if it didn't get impaled just now.
Next, Lightning Bolt...
He tapped his umbrella on the floor, and a bolt of lightning appeared in his left hand. Then, he threw it towards the dummy. The next moment, sparks of lightning surrounded the dummy.
Donovan pressed the button again, and the dummy was restored, unharmed.
This went on for half an hour.
9:48 a.m., Donovan returned to his apartment.
He saw the Vorlan sitting on the sofa, watching the TV. Then, without looking at Donovan, it said in a deep, rough voice, "Why'd you buy only one pack? Go out and buy some more."
The Vorlan was referring to the Vorlan food that Donovan bought earlier.
Why are you giving orders like you're the boss here? You're living in my apartment!
Donovan nearly failed to control the twitching of his eyebrow. He sighed, then said, "There's still plenty. You can't finish a pack of Vorlan food in a day."
Because if you can, I might run out of money! He thought jokingly.
The Vorlan didn't reply, as it continued to watch TV.
Then, Donovan went to the bathroom and pressed a button on the wall. It had a single word on top of it, "Laundry."
As Donovan pressed the button, the wall beside it opened up, and a robot with feminine curves came out. Its head had no facial features.
Then, the robot said in a gentle, feminine voice, "Good morning, Master. I am ready to do your laundry for you."
Donovan nodded, and pointed at the basket that was filled with used suits.
Washing suits in a regular laundry cycle can damage the fabric, so I hope this robot knows what it's doing... Oh, right, I remember now.
He remembered that this robot was quite "professional" at doing the laundry through the previous Donovan's memories.
The robot nodded, and said in a female voice, "Very well, Master." Then, it went to the basket and kneeled on one knee.
It was checking the labels on the suits if they were dry clean only, or if they were machine washable or hand washable.
Everything it did exuded carefulness and gentleness. Donovan paused for a while, and stopped staring. He left the bathroom.
The hell? Was I seriously being captivated by a robot?
...
11:59 a.m., Dean's apartment.
Dean smiled and looked at the robot in front of him.
Unlike the other robots, this one looked very identical to a human. It had skin, and hair.
The robot was about the same height as Dean, and its "body" had feminine curves. Its face was very beautiful, exuding innocence and gentleness. The robot's hair was pure black.
Dean couldn't stop smiling, and his heart was beating quickly. Then, he raised the "remote" he was holding in his right hand, pointed it at the robot, and turned it on.
The robot's eyes opened. It bowed, and said slowly and gently, "Good morning, dear. I am Mina, your AI girlfriend starting today. Pleased to meet you."
Dean gulped. This was the first time he bought something like this. And the reason why he borrowed money from Donovan was so he could finally buy this!
He looked at the guidebook, and saw many, many features. The robot could do laundry, cook for you, clean the house, etc. It could even act like a real girlfriend! Cuddling, "activities" in bed, etc.
Then, Dean said, "Y-Yeah. Nice to meet you..." He tried hard not to say something like, "yo," "bro," or "dude". After all, this was going to be his (AI) girlfriend from now on.
...
Same day, 7:30 p.m., Donovan's apartment.
Donovan got the Chef robot to cook for him. The Laundry maid robot was also done.
After eating dinner, feeding the Vorlan, working out, and taking a shower, he sat in front of his computer desk.
After gaming for twenty minutes, he stretched and sat on the bed.
The Vorlan was still seated on the sofa, watching TV.
Donovan's mind went to Valentine's Day, and how he'd spend the day. His mind went to Sylvia.
...Donovan, you told yourself not to get distracted, didn't you? Don't forget your goal to return home...
It was 9:02, and he didn't sleep yet. He planned on reading a novel. As he took out his phone, he suddenly had a question in his mind.
I wonder if this Vorlan knows what happened to The Forge Master and The Specter after The Executor killed the World Devourer Beast...
He coughed, and asked, "What happened to the Titan of Creation and Madam Death after the World Devourer Beast was killed?"
The Vorlan hopped onto the sofa's armrest, and "smiled." It then said in a deep, rough voice as if phlegm was stuck in its throat, "I thought you'd never ask."
