Regrets

Donovan felt his heart skip a beat as he hurriedly replied, "Nothing much. You?"

Four seconds later, he received a reply, "Same."

Donovan quickly continued the conversation, "What's the matter?"

"Hey. Why'd you reject me? Why'd you say you just want to be friends with me? Am I not good enough for you? Do I really have to keep trying harder for you to like me back?" replied Sylvia.

Woah, woah... What the? This isn't like her at all... Wait, don't tell me she's drunk again?

Not knowing how to respond to that, he quickly went to the sofa and showed his phone screen to Alfred.

But at that moment, the Vorlan growled at him and shouted, "Keep your trivial matters to yourself!"

Damn it! So useless!

Donovan replied, "Sylvia, wait. Let me explain."

After that, he didn't receive a reply, and the message wasn't even seen at all.

Oh no... Why do I have a bad feeling about this...

Putting down his phone, Donovan sat on a chair at the table, holding up his head as both of his thumbs massaged his temples.

She's right to be angry... I didn't think my words through, and I ended up rejecting her... I never wanted to reject her... I mean, I've been a virgin for my entire life... I don't know how this relationship stuff works...

Just as he was about to grab his phone and go to the sofa, he suddenly heard knocking on his sliding glass door coming from the balcony.

This knocking sound alarmed both Donovan and Alfred. Alfred turned off the TV, and Donovan went to grab his umbrella.

The Vorlan hopped on the sofa's armrest, looking at the balcony.

The sliding glass door was being covered by brown curtains, and the two couldn't see who was right outside at the balcony.

Donovan approached. Gripping his umbrella tightly, he went to the side and gently moved the curtains to peek outside.

At the sofa, Alfred saw the Visitor's eyes widen. Then, he watched Donovan open the sliding glass doors and let someone inside.

The figure had black hair. They had a beautiful face, and was wearing a simple loose white t-shirt and pajamas. She was none other than Sylvia Swan.

Donovan put his umbrella beside the bed, and he let Sylvia take a seat at the sofa.

She's drunk...

Sylvia stared at Donovan, and said slowly, "Am I... not good enough for you...?"

I don't know what to do in this situation...

"Sylvia, you're drunk. You should get some rest first. We'll talk about this later," said Donovan.

Alfred "sighed," and said, "Get her off the sofa."

Donovan quickly looked at Alfred and said in a low tone of voice, "Hey. I thought the matter about you being able to talk was a secret?"

Alfred tsked and said, "She's drunk. She won't remember a thing."

Sylvia hummed, and suddenly, she pulled Donovan in, wrapping her arms around him.

At this moment, Donovan felt his worries disappear. He wanted to stay like this with her forever.

Ever since his mission at the icy planet Ziron, he had this silent yearning to be embraced by a woman, but he just didn't know it.

Donovan melted in Sylvia's embrace. He didn't resist. Then, Sylvia slowly lied down on the sofa, bringing Donovan with her.

It's early in the morning, and she's already drunk...?

Donovan slowly wrapped his arms around her as well. Meanwhile, Alfred watched this while shaking his head.

He folded just like that? Pathetic.

Then, Alfred hopped off the sofa, temporarily giving up his spot for the two lovebirds. He hopped onto the windowsill, and lied down.

Right now, the two were cuddling. Sylvia kept her eyes open, and asked again, "Why did you reject me...?"

Ah, screw it, she's just going to forget anyway...

"I never wanted to reject you. It was a poor choice of words. I'm sorry."

Suddenly, Sylvia leaned in for a kiss. Donovan's eyes widened, and he quickly pulled his head away. Sylvia's eyebrows furrowed, as she asked angrily, "You don't want to kiss...?"

Things are going too fast! Am I really about to receive my first kiss here?!

"Uh... I... I want to kiss..." said Donovan.

Sylvia hummed, and leaned in again. Donovan closed his eyes, waiting for his first kiss.

Five, ten, fifteen seconds later, Donovan grew confused on why the kiss was taking too long. Opening his eyes, Sylvia had already fallen asleep.

Uh...

Donovan didn't know what to feel. Sighing inwardly, he unwrapped his arms around her and got off the sofa.

In the end, he didn't receive his first ever kiss because she fell asleep.

He then went to the bed to grab a blanket. As he covered her with a blanket, he had the urge to remove her strands of hair and put it behind her ear and caress her cheek, but he held back the urge. Sighing, he went back to his chair at the table.

Even though I said I shouldn't get distracted and shouldn't get attached to the people here, now I'm doing the exact opposite... Sigh, when the time comes for me when I'll have to return to my original universe, it might be a painful one.

Donovan looked at the sofa again. He heard her softly breathing as she slept. He couldn't decide if he should go for it and get into a relationship with her, or do the opposite because he's not ready for a relationship and he doesn't know how relationships work.

Who can I consult about this matter...?

Donovan racked his brain. He went through the original Donovan's memories, and he came to a conclusion.

That guy named Vi from Sylvia's team... Hm, but I heard he's a huge womanizer, and has had many relationships with women before, and he's even broke the hearts of some... Is he even the right person to talk to?

He looked at Alfred who was sleeping at the windowsill. He approached the Vorlan, and as he was about to reach out his hand to wake Alfred up, he decided not to. It was because the Vorlan didn't like being woken up.

He wanted to ask the Vorlan about relationships. Sighing, he turned on his phone to make a Google search about love, romance, relationships, etc.

...

1:49 p.m., same day.

Donovan was sitting on a chair facing a small table outside a restaurant. He wore a white overcoat, and a black turtleneck sweater.

He left his apartment at around 1:30. He first used technology to determine that Sylvia will only wake up three hours later. After that, he left his apartment.

Now, he was here to meet up with someone: Vi Leone.

Vi was an Assassin-type from Sylvia's team, and he contributed greatly on the mission on the planet 612-Hasdi-80, where they had to steal weapons from an organization called Celestial Smugglers.

Donovan sipped on his glass of iced tea as he scrolled on his phone. He kept having thoughts if a womanizer was the right person to consult about love, romance, relationships, etc.

He also regretted not taking things seriously in his previous life as Clark Smith. He regretted staying as a virgin. He regretted not shooting his shot at the girls he fancied.

How utterly pathetic...

As he let out a self-deprecating laugh, he saw someone descend down from the sky on the sidewalk.

The figure had black hair. His eyes were as dark as the abyss, and he had a handsome face. He looked like a model. He was wearing a fedora, black suit, dark red necktie, black vest, black tailored pants, and a silver watch. He had all kinds of expensive jewelry on him. Overall, the man looked very expensive.

Donovan quickly recognized who he was: Vi Leone!

Vi approached Donovan. Then, sitting across Donovan at the table, he leaned back on the chair. He put his right leg above his left, and crossing his fingers, he put them on his lap.

For some reason, Donovan had a feeling that this guy was more arrogant, flashy, and extravagant than Dean.

With a smile, Vi said, "So you've come to consult me about something. Go ahead and ask."
