Chapter 5

Katrina's POV

"What?" I questioned, feigning ignorance as I did a turn to face his form. His formidable face in a scowl as he stood in a black shirt and jeans, his body too close that I felt uncomfortable and scared as always.

"Don't play smart with me Katrina," he gritted, jaw clenched as he glared at me. "I asked you a question."

"Umm, I—" I started but he cut me off.

"Don't answer the first it's obvious you were trying to escape," he pronounced and I stared at anywhere but his face. "But the second is very important and I need an answer fast."

Silence reigned between and around us except for the noise of our breathing and the rustling of the leaves and branches around. I opened my mouth but closed it again as fear wouldn't let me form a sentence.

A ready lie was on my tongue but I couldn't speak up. As moments passed, his stare became sharper as his scowl grew deeper, his hold on me tightening.

"Katrina," he called warningly, rage flowing out of me in waves. A whimper left my lips and I observed his eyes soften a bit at the fear written all over my face before the concern disappeared and the anger replaced it.

"What were you doing here naked?" He went on to ask. "Who is the man you granted access to?"

I peered down at my fingers as he shook me by the shoulders because I didn't give him answer. Even if I wanted to I couldn't hence I had no idea who the man I'd spent the night with was.

He peered at me for moments and stated the obvious. "You have no idea?"

I went mute, not daring to stare up at him, my cheeks flaming in embarrassment. "Oh my heavens you don't."

He broke out in fits of laughter, his hand dropping from my shoulder as he took steps away from me. I gradually raised my head to see his hands on his hips as he paced the perimeter, shaking his head as if in disbelieve while his chuckles filled the air.

Suddenly he stopped and rapidly covered the space between us, prompting me to jump backwards cautiously at his abrupt movement, my heart still pounding.

"You gave yourself to a total stranger Katrina," he chuckled holowly, his gaze hard and lips curling in a sneer as he ran his fingers through his hair, the action bringing fort to my minds eye the image of me doing same to a man under the night sky.

"While you reject me, your mate," he growled, putting his foot forward till his face was inches away from mine as he peered down at me. "A mate given to you by the moon goddess, one who provides for you and should satisfy your needs."

"No Shaun," I said in a cracked voice, sadness and hatred taking over my system at the statement he uttered so nonchalantly. "You are no longer my mate Shaun."

"What, the moon goddess gave you another?" He questioned in a growl and reached out his hand to my back where his fingers wrapped around my midnight colored strands and yanked on it, causing my neck to bend at an odd angle and a wince of pain leave my lips.

"Was it him who came to you last night?" He interrogated, yanking harder and this time I couldn't stop the tears from running down my cheeks as a sob broke out from my throat.

"Hmmm? Or you are just some cheap whore who gives your body to any man who shows up and gives you attention while showering you with sweet words?"

His words stung, because they were too true for me to deny it. However I didn't want him to know that as instead I struggled against his hold, not minding the extra pain as I glared at him and spoke. "I'd rather give myself to a stranger who cares than someone who treats me like trash."

"I thought I told you I do that all to please Amanda," he tried to reason with me but I was not having it.

"Let me go Shaun, please," I begged for the thousandth time. "I promise not to ever return or cause you harm, please."

"That's exactly the reason Katrina, you would never return," he declared, dragging my hair at an angle that I was gawking up at him. "There's no way I can let you leave."

"You are a sick bastard Shaun," I sobbed, dread washing over me as there was no escape anymore. "You and Amanda and this sick pack, I wish I had never been born, I wish Amanda had killed me."

"Well I'm thankful you were born and that Amanda didn't kill you," he grinned and I felt sick to my stomach as lust began to cloud his eyes alongside the anger in their depths. "Now follow me, let's return home."

"I hate you Shaun," I spat as he jerked me forward so I could match his steps, fingers around my hair tight and unrelenting as we crossed the woods and returned to the pack lands.

All eyes were on me as Shaun and I continued toward the pack house. No one dared to step in at my situation or even showed a hint of sympathy.

Rather insults were thrown my way and mocking laughs filled the air as I was dragged away. I caught sight of Amanda friends and they gave me smirks as they laughed.

We strode into the pack house and I heard Amanda's shrill voice. "Oh you brought her back."

"Yes I did baby," Shaun answered sweetly while I could feel Amanda's glare, probably not happy at my reappearance thus she knew what that meant. "We need her."

"Okay," she murmured half-heartedly and I heard them kiss, but didn't see them as my gaze remained on the floor. "Where you gonna keep her babe?"

"Don't worry, she's not returning to her room today," he revealed and my heart hammered in my chest at his statement.

"Where baby?" Amanda asked, a hint delight in her voice.

"The dungeon," Shaun replied and all strength drained from my body as my heart dropped to my stomach. "She needs to be taught a huge lesson."
