Chapter four( The threat)

Rheaphel sat in a corner at the Athenaeum his gaze on the moving bodies that rhythm with the music. He was on his fourth drink yet he felt as sober as ever. His covered face got him attention from people but he cared less he was troubled and his mind was occupied. Taking the drink in one gulp he ordered for another, oblivious of the man in a dark cloak looking at him with keen eyes, just like him his face was covered with a hood.finally deciding the drinking was enough he left a few gold coins and walked dejectedly out of the Athenaeum.

He would be heading for Epido tomorrow at dust to wed his bribe the following day,he was a king after all and his presence was needed. Rheaphel walked towards the stable to mount his horse, he didn't take a ride immediately and kept walking while holding the reins of his horse. Walking further into the darkness he felt someone following him, tightening his grip around the daggers he always kept on him whenever he disguised himself. He didn't rush in attacking his stalker he first took in his environment to ensure they weren't more people. Still acting like he was oblivious of his stalker he suddenly came to a halt and as if lost, he immediately turned towards the direction his stalker was and immediately started walking towards the him. His grip on his daggers tightened and he was prepared for the other party if he launched an attack. As if being able to read his mind a six feet man appeared in front of him, holding a sword in one hand, with his face covered he walked like a predator ready to devour its prey but this prey was a dangerous predator himself.

Rushing towards him he stricked his sword at Rheaphel aiming for his head but Rheaphel swiftly dodged his attack, he quickly threw one of his daggers at the hand holding the sword, as the sword fell he quickly kicked the distracted man right in the stomach and like flash he took the sword and pointed it at the man. He would have killed him but he needed answers so for now he would keep him alive. Pointing the sword at him he questioned "who are you and who sent you?" .... The man left out a pleading voice" I was only sent to deliver a message to you that you should stay away from this war for it has nothing to do with you. So please don't kill me". "Ha" Rheaphel scoffed who said it didn't involve him? He was going to marry Richard's daughter after all and so it Involved him. Laughing coldly" you know I can kill you if I wanted to,but under a second thought i wouldn't ,go to whoever sent you that the great king Rheaphel said that this war was going to be his from now on" Rheaphel warned through clenched teeth.

Looking at the retreating figure Rheaphel sat on his house and rode home. He was confused on why someone would send him a warning to stay away from the war. Was there more to the war than it looked on the surface?
