CHAPTER 13

Chapter 13

The control room of the PPDC was filled with tension as Marshal Pentecost, Shane, Raleigh, Mako, and the rest of the personnel observed the battle through the large holographic display. The three deployed Jaegers—Crimson Typhoon, Cherno Alpha, and Striker Eureka—were engaging the Kaiju with skill and force. Crimson Typhoon's three-arm combat technique was proving effective, Cherno Alpha's brute strength and raw power dominated, while Striker Eureka's agility and missile barrages gave them an edge.

Shane, watching intently, knew what was about to happen. As a Jaeger pilot himself, he recognized the importance of conserving resources—losing Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha would be a devastating blow to the PPDC's strength. He hesitated, conflicted. He wanted to prevent their downfall, but at the same time, he knew Raleigh and Mako needed their chance to prove themselves. After a brief moment of contemplation, he made his decision.

"Marshal," Shane spoke up, breaking the silence, "I should get ready."

Marshal Pentecost turned to him sharply, already prepared to refuse. "You stay here—"

"No, sir," Shane interjected, his voice firm. "As much as I want to trust the three deployed Jaegers, having four Jaegers at the battlefield is a much safer option. We don't know what else could happen."

Pentecost fell silent, his expression unreadable. The room was thick with anticipation. Shane took that silence as a reluctant approval and immediately turned on his heel, heading toward the hangar. As he passed by Raleigh and Mako, he shot them a meaningful look.

"I think you guys should get ready," he said, his voice grave. "I feel like something terrible is about to happen."

His words sent a ripple of unease through the surrounding personnel. Even Raleigh and Mako looked momentarily startled by the certainty in his tone. Marshal Pentecost narrowed his eyes but said nothing, watching Shane disappear toward his Jaeger.

Inside Rajah, Shane ran through the initiation process with Tendo Choi assisting him from the control room. Within minutes, Rajah was deployed, its massive frame launched toward the Hong Kong coastline where the battle was raging. The moment his feet touched the ground, he immediately analyzed the fight.

Crimson Typhoon was holding its own, delivering a devastating spin attack, its three arms slashing through one of the Kaiju. Just as it was about to land a fatal blow, another Kaiju lunged at it from behind, slamming it to the ground. Shane cursed under his breath.

Cherno Alpha moved in to assist, but before it could reach its downed ally, two more Kaiju emerged from the ocean depths, their massive forms rising with terrifying force. The sudden appearance of other two Category Four Kaiju stunned the entire PPDC control room.

"Oh my god…" someone muttered.

Before the Kaiju could finish off Crimson Typhoon, Rajah charged forward, unleashing a barrage of railgun shots that tore into the beasts. One of them turned its attention toward Shane, snarling before launching itself at Rajah. He reacted quickly, stepping to the side and delivering a powerful punch, sending the Kaiju sprawling.

Cherno Alpha and Striker Eureka were now engaged in combat with the other two Kaiju, struggling to keep up with their relentless assault. Shane knew he couldn't let the battle turn against them. He dashed toward the Kaiju pinning down Crimson Typhoon, grabbing it by the arm and yanking it away. With a swift, calculated move, he severed one of its limbs before delivering a devastating uppercut that sent it crashing into the ocean.

A piercing, otherworldly scream filled the battlefield.

Rajah's sensors flared to life, warning him of incoming danger. One of the Kaiju, glowing with a strange energy, suddenly released a massive shockwave that reverberated across the battlefield. The sheer force of the blast froze Striker Eureka, Cherno Alpha, and Crimson Typhoon in place, their systems momentarily unresponsive.

"Damn it!" Shane growled. He was now alone against four Kaiju.

With no choice but to stand his ground, he engaged the closest enemy, maneuvering Rajah with expert precision. He landed a decisive blow on one Kaiju, shattering its jaw. But before he could react, another Kaiju lunged at him from his right. He managed to dodge, but his evasion came at a cost—his Jaeger's right arm was torn off by the beast's crushing bite.

Warnings flooded Shane's screen. He barely had time to register them before another Kaiju came from the front. He lashed out, punching it hard enough to crack its exoskeleton. But then, a third Kaiju leaped onto his back.

Shane gritted his teeth. Without backup, without proper sensor support from the control room, he couldn't detect every attack. The enemy was overwhelming him.

Just as the Kaiju was about to land a fatal blow—

A blue energy blast tore through the air, knocking the beast away.

Gypsy Danger arrived, its massive form emerging from the shadows of the city skyline. Its arrival sent a wave of relief through Shane. Raleigh and Mako had deployed.

He smirked slightly. "Took you guys long enough."

Inside Gypsy Danger's cockpit, Raleigh and Mako prepared for battle.

"Let's finish this," Raleigh muttered.

Gypsy Danger's engines roared to life as it charged toward the Kaiju, ready to turn the tide of the battle.
