The dance between the father and daughter lasted for 15 minutes, but it successfully stole everyone's attention. Some of them thought that King Aliester was a loving father to his daughter and a great ruler.
The response was overwhelmingly positive, and as soon as they finished dancing, they were mobbed by other nobles.
Neither of them actually realized it, but they were both secretly shocked at becoming the center of attention. Still, they did their best to play their roles as father and daughter.
Several high-ranking nobles even tried to catch the king's ear for a private word. It was hard to leave Magdalene alone, but to maintain the good name of the true Aliester Hohenzollern, he had to leave Magdalene by herself.
"Magdalene, Daddy will go for a while to meet the other guests. Just wait here and let the servants take care of you, okay?"
"Alright, Daddy. But you'll come back soon, right?"
"Of course, dear. Thank you for being patient," and with that, he gently kissed her forehead.
Initially, he overreacted, even showing fear. But now, he's working to establish a genuine father-daughter bond with Magdalene. Meanwhile, little Magdalene is growing accustomed to her father's kindness. She saw her father walk off to join a group of nobles who had been waiting to speak with him.
------
As she watched her father chat with other, Magdalene saw Earl Ventela had joined into the conversation.
What made her even more annoyed was that Earl Ventela had brought Lady Bernadette along and was openly trying to push his daughter towards Aliester.
"How dare you approach my daddy!" Magdalene seethed. "Oh, hell no! Wait until I slap your face, you witch!"
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
Magdalene might have lost her patience and decided to approach her father. However, as she quickly walked towards him, she accidentally collided with someone.
"Kyaa!"
"Ah!!"
Magdalene's hands were caught by someone before she fell to the ground. Startled, she looked up to see who was holding her.
"..."
"Are you alright, Lady?"
A boy around her age, with a similar height, handsome and quite charming. Perhaps this was the initial impression Magdalene had of him.
The charming young boy with black hair, blue eyes, wearing white attire with golden accents, was one of the child guests in attendance. The boy grasped Magdalene's hand, his face filled with concern and remorse.
"Are you alright, Lady?! I'm truly sorry!"
"..." Magdalene was speechless, taken aback.
"Wait a minute… there are other kids at this party? And he's apologizing?"
"Wasn't I the one who bumped into him?"
Magdalene didn't know anything about the guests, and she also didn't know who this boy was. But her focus was still on her father, who was seen chatting with Lady Bernadette in the distance. They even left for another location, accompanied by other nobles.
"Ahh!" Magdalene quickly released her hand from the young boy's grasp. "I have to go!"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, definitely! I have to catch up with them!"
"Them?" The boy looked back, his eyes fixed on Aliester, the noble guests, and Lady Bernadette.
The young boy thought to himself that this little girl might be the child of one of the nobles talking to the King of Rumanier. "Are your parents among them?" the boy asked.
"My daddy is over there, and I need to make sure he's safe."
"Safe? Safe from what?"
"From people who want to pair him with a terrifying woman! Excuse me." Magdalene left the boy standing alone.
From a distance, the boy still called out to her, "Lady! I–" But it was in vain, and before he could finish his sentence, he heard a woman calling out to him.
"Finally, I found you!" The boy turned around to see a beautiful woman with pale skin, long brown hair, striking blue eyes, and a tall stature. She wore a modest long-sleeved gown and knelt down, offering him a small plate with cake.
The boy accepted the plate, but his attention was still fixed on Magdalene, now in the distance.
"What's wrong?" the woman asked.
"There was a lovely little girl just now," he replied.
"A lovely little girl? Where?" she asked.
"Over there," he said, pointing.
But the crowd had grown thicker, and Magdalene was no longer visible.
"I'm sorry, I don't see her," the woman said.
The woman extended her hand. "Shall we go? We're supposed to meet King Aliester and Earl Ventela."
The boy nodded, and they left.
In his heart, the boy held a glimmer of hope. "Who was that little girl? I want to know."
"Will I be able to meet her again?"
"There aren't many children I can meet here, and...she was quite charming."
A faint smile appeared on his lips, causing the woman to wonder, "Is that a smile of joy? Did something pleasant happen?"
"Hmm."
"Ahaha, I see. Is the girl you mentioned the source of happiness behind that smile?"
"I'm not sure. I'm just happy to have met someone my age."
The woman smiled, "If that girl is indeed the source of your happiness, I hope to meet her too."
"I hope you do, Lyn."
------
Magdalene, focused on her goal, failed to find her father. The crowd had swept him away, and she had no idea where he was.
"Where's daddy?"
"I need to make sure nothing annoying happens at this party!"
"And Bernadette better not declare war on me! Watch out, don't even think about flirting with my daddy!"
