Chapter 9

Granger's Side Story

I can't accept the fact that I'm impotent. Evelina and I had planned to have children in the future.

But at that time, my career was at its peak. The hospital director told me if I worked hard for a few more years, I'd get a promotion and a raise. But Evelina always bothers me at times like this, harping on about marriage and kids every other sentence.

I really want to marry her and have children too, but I still prioritize my career, so to teach her a lesson.

I allow interns to get close to me, and I know she notices every time they appear on purpose.

It's just to rile up Evelina, to let her know how in-demand I am. Is she not afraid I'll run off if she keeps pressuring me?

To make her behave and wait patiently for me.

Later, she did indeed quiet down for a while, and I was pleased, planning to discuss marriage with her again after some time.

But what I never expected was that the phone call was real.

She really was in a car accident.
