Chapter 6

He says I'm jealous and embarrassing, but my husband is different. He introduces me to everyone around him.

Whether we're alone or in public, he praises me as an amazing mother and wife.

He gives me confidence, makes me feel like I matter.

Just as I was listening intently to my husband's lecture, hurried footsteps came from the doorway.

A doctor in a white coat addressed the director in front of me:

"It's bad, Director. There's a patient with severe open trauma in the ER. We can't find the source of bleeding, and we're running out of blood from the bank. Dr. Langdon can't handle it. If we delay any longer, the patient might not make it. What's more, this patient has a special status - they're someone important to those higher up. We must keep them alive."

The director quickly made a decision, going up to interrupt my husband's speech, asking him to help save this patient.
