I smiled and cut straight to the chase:
"Poor little Scarlett. Well, I wish you both good health and a happy marriage."
I didn't break down on the spot as she had expected, because my heart had already died that night.
The person standing here now had truly let go.
He panicked and hurriedly explained, "Scarlett still needs to go abroad for a major surgery, but she couldn't get an appointment with a suitable doctor. So her parents asked me to take extra care of her."
"Don't worry, once she recovers from the surgery, I'll keep my distance from her."
Scarlett gratefully said, "Thank you so much, Draven. Without you, I would have struggled to carry on."
The two of them were putting on a show of mutual understanding and appreciation here, and I had become the third wheel again.
I sighed softly, not wanting to waste any more time with them. I had an early flight tomorrow and still needed to pack.
"Fine, since you put it that way, I'll admit it was my fault. Happy now?"
